    2020 Democratic Primary Race

Depends what you mean by "stolen." If nobody gets a majority of delegates and it goes to a contested convention, that sucks, but them's the rules. If the DNC pulls out the obvious corruption like they did in 2016, the party will fracture, Trump will win re-election in a cakewalk, and the Democrats will deserve every bit of it.

    2020 Democratic Primary Race

The Democratic establishment wanted Buttegeig and Klobuchar to drop out before Super Tuesday and endorse BIden. Neither Buttegeig nor Klobuchar had a path to the nomination and dropping out was simply the right thing to do. Both of the above can be true.

Obviously that depends on Biden's performance in two days. If he wins a state or two but it's a Sanders sweep, otherwise, I agree that he's in trouble. But in his favor he has all of the anti-Sanders Democratic donors, who will want to coalesce around one candidate post-Super Tuesday. It's obvious now Biden is that candidate.

Warren will see the light after Tuesday. Hopefully Klobuchar does too. Let Bernie and Biden (and Bloomberg) battle it out.

What was the last movie you watched?

Oh man I forgot about this thread! Wife and I really tried to see most of the Oscar-nominated movies this year. I won't give reviews on all of 'em but this would be my "best of 2019" ranking. Marriage Story 1917 Parasite The Irishman Little Women Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

    2020 Democratic Primary Race

I'm going by comments he's made in interviews (and possibly debates, if I'm remembering correctly), which were ten thousand, not ten percent. And general election polls around this time, historically, are very inaccurate. Sanders certainly has a chance, but just as an example, his comments about Castro don't play very well in South Florida, where I live. And not only is Florida a huge battleground state, but southeastern Florida particularly is a mostly Democratic area where Sanders will need to run up the vote count. Thanatos, I checked Sanders' web site, and I think his projections for "annual healthcare spending" are a little dubious. Is he talking about out-of-pocket expenses? Because his web site projects my wife and I pay over $5,000 out of pocket if so, and we definitely don't.

    2020 Democratic Primary Race

My private insurance is pretty good. If I'm going to be forced to change to Medicare where I don't have to pay premiums, I'm cool with that. But if my taxes are going to be raised $10,000 to pay for it (as Sanders has very openly admitted will happen to the middle class), my wife and I would have to sell our house. Sanders casually says, "Yeah, I'll raise taxes $10,000, but people won't be paying $10,000 in premiums under my plans." Not all people pay $10,000 in premiums, Bernie.

    2020 Democratic Primary Race

The biggest thing I want from Sanders is how he will get legislation passed. Let's say Democrats re-take the Senate--which is a pretty big stretch--Medicare for All is supported by 16 Democrats. How is President Sanders going to get his party behind it? He really doesn't seem like the type to compromise to Medicare for All Who Want It or something comparable, so is he just going to initiate one failed far-left bill after another and make his party look incompetent? No wonder the Democratic establishment is shitting their pants.

    2020 Democratic Primary Race

It is going to be hilarious when Democrats realize they've blown two elections against Trump.

    2020 Democratic Primary Race

Not only that--but think about all the moderate Democratic Congressmen in battleground districts who will struggle to get re-elected with far-left Sanders on the ticket. Additionally, I think a similar problem might befall Democrats if Sanders doesn't get the nomination. Think of all the young, far-left liberals who are essentially Bernie-or-nobody voters. They are already disillusioned from the DNC corruption from 2016; if Sanders fails to get the nomination--especially given his current, undisputed status as frontrunner--many of them will stay home or vote third party. If you're a Trump supporter, you're loving this. If you're a Democrat, you've got to be wondering: Is there a left-but-not-far-left candidate who can successfully unite the moderate and liberal wings of the party?

    Post a pic of yourself...

Went to a Super Bowl event in Miami and got to meet Peter King. He interviewed Gardner Minshew, who is hilarious, and then hung out after. Really nice guy.

If I understand the sentiment of this post, I'm with you. Honestly I'd love never to see this prick in the news cycle again.

Cherry is at the Senior Bowl

This is epic, Cherry. You are officially TGP's NFL insider.
  17. Update: I'm taking Razor's advice. I've had a rough outline on my computer for years, but now I'm fleshing it out, and I'm pretty excited about the stories still left to tell. For now, I think I'll just start writing and see what happens. If I think it's good enough, I'll publish it here. I know not many left on TGP would read it, but that's ok. I know those who would read it will enjoy it. So, brace yourselves. The Knights of Andreas may yet appear on TGP again... @RazorStar @Sarge @Vin @Thanatos @seanbrock @Cherry @Zack_of_Steel

    Better Call Saul Discussion

I actually figured this season would be the last. The fact that they have even more story to tell is really exciting. And I'm with Vin. I really want those b&w flashforwards to add up to something really good.

    Super Bowl LIV Picks

The 2005 Steelers with Bill Cowher were 11-5. The 2011 Giants were 6-2 halfway through the season. They stumbled in the second half, finished 9-7, then got back to the above average team they were. The 2012 Ravens were 9-2 heading into December. They went 1-4, but three of those losses were by one score. Since the NFL went to a 12-team playoff format in 1990, 26 of 29 Super Bowl champions have been 6-2 or better after eight games. The three exceptions? 2000 Ravens (5-3), 2001 Patriots (4-4), 2010 Packers (5-3). Championship teams do not "get hot at the right time" or "come out of nowhere." The best teams are the best teams.
  21. Ok, in all seriousness, I am considering bringing this back for a temporary run. It would be very short, 6-8 chapters, and essentially just a deeper look at the epilogue of the series. But it would follow the Knights throughout a season (probably 2020) like past seasons have. As a writer, I would love to revisit these characters again, get in their heads, visualize the Knights taking the field, hear the Farmers Field crowd roar, see locker room banter, watch Phillips and Schneider go back and forth. I have some plot ideas, and have had some since I published the last chapter. But I'll only go forward with it if y'all are interested. I feel satisfied with how KoA ended and am more than happy to leave it at that. What say you?

    Disney buys LucasFilm

Welcome to the world of big-budget filmmaking. Makes the Marvel Cinematic Universe even more impressive. All those films in the better part of a decade, and were any one of them bad?

F4E is doing a pretty splendid job of spelling out my own thoughts, which is convenient. Star Wars is a franchise with lightspeed, lightsabers, and gravity in space. If you want to pick it apart with logic, have at it. If you want to enjoy the story, then enjoy it you will.

    Super Bowl LIV Picks

I hate picking the hot, trendy team, but how can you not go with Baltimore in the AFC? New England doesn't have the firepower, and Andy Reid will find a way to choke. I think the Saints are the best team in the league, but not getting the bye is a crushing blow for them. The last time a non-bye team even made it to the Super Bowl was the Ravens seven years ago. Again, I hate picking favorites but something about Green Bay doesn't seem right (Rodgers looked listless last Sunday), so I'm going with San Francisco. Ho hum. Rock chalk. > (Watch them both get upset in the Divisional Round now.)
