Knew that trade was a fail as soon as it was made and the details were released. Julio Jones is an excellent talent and is a great weapon for the Falcons, but they gave up WAY too much for him. If the Falcons were 1 more WR away from being a Superbowl contending team, maybe I could understand it, but that just isn't the case.
Matty Ice will be a hot topic in the next few days. Dude can't win in the playoffs.
The biggest thing for me about that trade was that they failed to address the defense. They did sign Ray Edwards in free agency, but didn't do much else to help the back seven. Even if Julio had a rookie season like Randy Moss, I'm not sure it would have saved Atlanta. And like I said in my previous post, it didn't even matter because the Falcons' offense failed to put up a single point today.
And while Matt Ryan will likely become a hot topic, I don't think Atlanta's playoff woes are entirely his fault; it's more of an overall team failure. Matty Ice may not be living up to the 3rd overall pick to this point in his career, but he's still a good quarterback, and I'm not ready to give him the "choker" label just yet.

So, the Falcons trade all those draft picks to bolster the offense with a big play wide receiver, and they can't put up a single offensive point in the playoffs? Epic fail, IMO.

+1 SteVo.
It's a fascinating situation, really. Without Andy Reid, the Eagles wouldn't be in playoff contention year after year. But in the same breathe, Andy Reid is stopping them from winning a Super Bowl. Time after time we've seen poor game management decisions from Reid that have cost his team important games.
It's one of those things that is similar to the Tony Romo debate. Yeah, he's a really good QB. Hell, he's in the Elite tier of Razor's QB Watch. But if you don't see him winning a Super Bowl - which is the ultimate goal - do you get rid of him? Same goes for Andy...
+1 right back at ya. It's a really conflicting situation, and it's been going on long enough, which is why I think Lurie has the right idea to finally put Andy on a short leash.

John Abraham is likely to make David Diehl look really bad, but the Giants have the edge in too many other places, especially being home against a team like Atlanta.

This is already one of the best threads on TGP.

Due Date. I went into it not expecting much, so I was actually a little surprised. Not a hilarious comedy by any means, but it had enough funny moments to make me enjoy it.

Anybody but the Broncos and I'd bet against Pittsburgh.

I still have Baltimore winning. It's gonna be tough sleddin' for Foster.
That's a good point. Not having Matt Schaub is definitely gonna mean a lot more against Baltimore than it did against Cincinnati.

I realize beating the Bengals isn't overly impressive, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Baltimore go down next week at Houston's expense.

I had the Eagles last year, meaning Sean can have them this year. As for me, I feel like working with someone in rebuilding mode...
Gimme the Vikings.

I think he's ready to be a defensive coordinator. The Bucs had the right idea when they picked him to replace Kiffin; they just jumped the gun when they fired Gruden a month later and gave the job to Morris.

Over/under on weeks until we see the first "Report: Rams to draft Justin Blackmon?"

8th ranked total defense and #1 in sacks? And he only got better as the season progressed. I think we see him back next year. If Reid gets another chance, Castillo deserves another chance and at least a full offseason with his team.
For the record, I wasn't giving my $0.02 on Castillo, just trying to translate what Lurie said at his press conference, and he's absolutely right. Promoting an offensive line coach to defensive coordinator was a horrible idea for a non-rebuilding team in the first place. Add on the lost time of the offseason with the lockout, and we really should have seen it coming.

I know I usually run this thing, but I am definitely not going to have the time this year. I'd still be down for participating, but I won't be able to dedicate the time it takes to organize and run everything. Also, it's still very early in the offseason. We usually started our big mocks in mid-March.

You're limited to nominating 25 bassists, Terrence. And don't forget to designate a top 5, if you can.

I'm in the process of counting these up now, so if anyone else wants to submit a ballot or edit there's, do so ASAP.

And now the Steelers shipping him off for fractions of his worth all makes sense (or, if it made sense before... Even more so).
Was about to mention this. Looks like the Steelers got the last laugh.
