  1. How was he a victim of the real estate market?

Everyone keeps saying "poor guy, he might lose his rings" but my thought is "what did you do to owe FOUR times what you actually have in assets??"

    We have a winner!

  2. I mean, I hate to come off as a whiny homer, but Trent Cole deserves to be on this list. Since it is the top ten "pass rushers," I'm assuming they're just considering that dimension and nothing else (coverage, run stopping), which is fine, but Cole should be top five.

The other issue is to put Wake higher, but looking at the guys in the top five, it'd be tough to give any of them a bump.

  4. I think he can turn it around, but I don't think he will. I thought his best chance of success was as a 3-4 OLB. Now that Buffalo is switching back to a 4-3, I think they'll have to put Maybin at linebacker because I don't think he can make it as a DE.

Anyway, this is what Buffalo deserves for not drafting Brian Orakpo. Failure. :p

  5. Now that the season recaps/offseason previews are done, it is time to focus TGP radio's attention on the upcoming NFL Draft. This Saturday night will be the first of many shows related to just that. On this particular show, FartWaffles, RazorStar, and I will be running a mock draft of the first round. No picks will be pre-planned; we will be doing it live. :D

Since it is unfeasible to discuss 32 picks in 30 minutes, the show will run over. We will only be broadcasting live for 30 minutes, and the archive will then pick up the entire show. The show will most likely not take longer than 60 minutes.

The show is officially scheduled for this Saturday night, 12:00AM EST (technically Sunday), 11:00PM CST, etc.

  6. I think this is all stemming from a misunderstanding. When I said

Well first of all, it's definitely between those two guys. The next level of guys--Torrey Smith, Leonard Hankerson--they aren't even close. Probably not even first round guys. A.J. Green and Julio Jones are both elite prospects.

I was talking in terms of draft stock and the evaluation process to this point. I wasn't trying to say that Green and Jones are the only ones who have the potential to become great receivers in the NFL.

    /groundbreaking :p

  7. Seems a bit.. contradictory.

For what it's worth I agree with you. The same could be said about overhyped quarterbacks and pass rushers who go in the top ten. But is it really fair to dilute the draft stock of A.J. Green and Julio Jones because of what other prospects have done in the past? I don't think so, but I'm sure it's something that scouts and GMs keep in mind.

  8. Once again, I wasn't referring to who I thought the best WR of this class is going to be; that's obviously impossible to say and per the stats you posted, top rated receivers don't usually work out. I was just saying that right now, Green and Jones are miles ahead of other receivers in terms of draft stock.

  9. Jets: C. Golden Tate and Corey Wootton are interesting prospects but it looks like Sargentina reached for them. Some interesting names through the rest of the draft but nothing is jumping out yet. An average draft for now, though I have a feeling Tate could explode in Seattle next year.

Colts: A-. Again, I'm trying my best to be objective. Maurkice Pouncey, hit. Daryl Washington, hit. Rob Gronkowski, hit. Any time you nail your first three picks it's a good draft. I won't give this a solid A because there aren't any middle/late round steals that some other drafts had.

Saints: B+. A lot of quality in the short amount of picks ATL had to work with. Despite an unpromising rookie season Kyle Wilson was good value at 32 overall. Jason Worilds is a very interesting prospect, Anthony Dixon would have been a great pick had he not quit football, and Cody Grimm was a starter with the Bucs this year.

Packers: A-. Oh man, I really like this draft. Jahvid Best would do dirty things in that Packer offense, and Roger Saffold would be Rodgers' blindside tackle. Amari Spevey is a guy that could start but wouldn't need to right away with how deep Green Bay's secondary is. And as an Eagles fan, I can tell you that Kurt Coleman will be a starter as soon as this season. The only thing preventing me from calling this an A draft is that Packers Dynasty got anally violated by DMac on that trade with the Lions.

Vikings: B. I like the first three picks in terms of value, especially Burnett. Safety might not be a need for Minnesota right now had they drafted him. I especially like how Vin was able to get Cincinnati's 1st round pick from next year. Imagine this in real life: what if the Vikings had the 4th and 12th overall pick?

Bears: B-. It's going to be really hard to grade this draft as Chicago's first pick was in the third round. Looking at it altogether, it looks like Razor got good value with his picks and got at least one gem in Riley Cooper. In absolute terms, this is probably a C/C+ draft, but given that I want to evaluate GMs based on what they had to work with, I thought Raz did a good job.

  10. Cardinals: B. Since this was my draft I'll try my best to be objective. The jury is still out on Jerry Hughes but it still seems like it was a smart pick. Navorro Bowman looks like a good pick, as does Tim Tebow, especially where I drafted him. No late round steals though I was able to get a blocking fullback and kicker. This is a solid B draft for now.

Falcons: A. Trident pretty much solved all of Atlanta's defensive line problems with his first two picks, both of them hits. Found a gem in James Starks and drafted several other guys who could become starters in Perrish Cox and Ed Wang. It may not jump off this page but this is an A draft.

Ravens: B-. With no 3rd or 4th round picks (due to the Anquan Boldin trade, I believe), this draft really comes down to the first two rounds. In this case, Jared Odrick looks to be a hit and Demaryius Thomas looks to be a miss. Still a lot up in the air, though, from them and from the guys he got in the late round, though. I'm thinking C range but I liked the Phillip Dillard pick so I'll bump it up to a B-.

Cowboys: C-. The Charles Brown pick certainly addressed a need but looking back it was a big reach, as Brown went to the Saints at the very bottom of round two. With Chris Cook's recent arrest, there's not much else going on in the rest of the draft. I won't call this a D draft just yet, though, as the jury is still out on Brown and Cook's arrest is not the end of his career.

Chargers: B. I love the first two picks. Socal one-upped A.J. Smith by taking the same player he did without trading up at all, and then he got the Chargers the nose tackle they need in Cam Thomas. After that, though, there's nothing going on. I was between B/B-, but I like placing emphasis on the high rounds and considering gems in the late rounds something of a bonus, so I'll say B.
