    Research Paper Around the Corner

Just a quick update: I've decided that I'll be comparing and contrasting the roles of the higher power(s) and the nature of the afterlife within Christianity and Buddhism. Once I have a list of questions regarding each topic, I'll let you guys know.

    Favorite Football Movies

Big fan of Remember the Titans, although it still weirds me out a little to see Hayden Panetierre that young. Also love Friday Night Lights and I haven't seen Any Given Sunday, but the "Inches" speech is pretty epic.

Skyrim, for the umpteen-millionth hour. This game is still horrifically addicting to escapists like me.

    Last TV Show You Watched?

Caught up on a couple episodes of Turn last night. Decent show thus far. AMC doesn't really disappoint me too often. Which reminds me that I need to watch that show Halt and Catch Fire and see if that's any good.

What Game Are You Currently Playing?

I always end up coming back to that game. I've traded it in and bought it back like 3 times in the past, and finally said fuck it and decided to keep it for good.

    2010 NFL Draft Re-Do

Interesting idea...I was actually talking about this with a co-worker the other day. He's a Jets fan so lately we've been sharing in each other's pain, ironically. I noticed one year we could have had Patrick Willis instead of...whoever the hell we took that should have been named Willis but wasn't. Anyway, I guess this could be broken down a couple ways: just grabbing somebody available only before the next pick, or completely reordering and basing the picks off how people have performed up to today...in which case, yeah...Atkins wouldn't be sitting around in the 4th round. Gonna go with the former for now... 1. Jared Odrick - I like this pick, so I'm pretty sure I'd stick with it. He's taken a little time to break out, but I think putting him inside has made a pretty big difference. I just like him better in the 4-3. 2. Koa Misi - This is tough. I think Misi is another guy who's been steady, but not amazing. Gronk got picked just 2 spots later, and we have struggled at TE since McMichael. Rob Gronkowski gets my vote. 3. John Jerry - Fuck me. Our scouts must have been smoking the good shit right before this one, right? Between pick 73 and 119, here are the guys we could have had: Emmanuel Sanders, Eric Decker, NaVorro Bowman, Jimmy Graham (hey, NE did it with Gronk/Hernandez...can you imagine Gronk and Graham?), Dennis Pitta, just to name the big ones. At the time we were running the 3-4, so Bowman would be nice. Would have been pretty solid paired up with Dansby. Although Graham, in hindsight, could have given us the most epic of all tight end duos to play the game. Oh, what might have been... 4. A.J. Edds - Who? Exactly... Jesus. This one hurts worse than the Jerry pick. Geno Atkins got picked up right after, and there's no doubt I'd want him now. 5. Nolan Carroll - You know, prior to the start of this season I would have probably said no to this one. But in Patterson's absence, Carroll has finally begun to flash some potential. He certainly doesn't have an elite, or even great ceiling, but he's been getting it done, and you can never have enough of those on a team. 6. Reshad Jones - Nope. Miami actually nailed this one, in my opinion. Next... 7. Chris McCoy - This is where my knowledge gets a little shaky. Most of these names don't pop out at me, but I'd probably go with J'Marcus Webb, George Selvie, or R.J. Stanford (who, ironically, we do have now). 8. Austin Spitler - Eh. Draft is nearly over here, and to be honest, the dude's still on the roster making a home for himself as a specialist. You need guys to fill that role, so I'll stick with this one.

    Seahawks @ Colts

I can't help but wonder what this game would look like with Harvin in the mix...even without him, I keep reverting back to the dismantling of the Niners. I know it's just one game, and it was at home, but I just can't help it. That said, Luck should...should keep the secondary busy if he has time to get rid of it. I really think that will be the main factor in all this...Seattle pass rush.
  11. In no particular order... - Haven't seen it mentioned yet, but returning a 140+ MPH serve in tennis is up there. - batting consistently in the majors - pitching a perfect game - Iron Man triathlons...seriously, it's insane - Staying on your feet for 12 rounds while another guy relentlessly swings at you - Countless others Idk...way too hard to break it down to one thing, but if I had to choose, I'd say winning a triathlon. The amount of time you have to put in to build up that kind of cardio endurance is staggering.

    Are 11-6 Chiefs for real?

All I know is I'm really looking forward to Manning vs that secondary now...something has to give. I think...it'll be the Chiefs that cave, but there's no telling.

    Ravens @ Dolphins

Main factors in this one... - Grimes vs Smith - Our front seven vs Rice - Tannehill's ability to rise above an inept O-line and not fumble the ball every time he gets hit i from behind - Wallace? We haven't exactly struggled without him, but it might be nice to get a little return on that 60 mil investment and see him push the secondary back a little.

Seahawks Fans Set Stadium Decibal Volume World Record

Sounds like the last place I would want to sit... But that's part of the fun in going there. I've never experienced a noise level like that before, and I've been close to enough jets to hear some pretty loud shit. To each their own, I suppose.

Who will be the last undefeated team?

I voted Broncos. It was a very tough choice between them or the Seahawks, and I just boiled it down to 3 factors for why I didn't choose Seattle... 1) Denver looks like their next 5 games are waaay easier at a glance, although Philly could be a snag. 2) Seattle struggled mightily on offense against Carolina (who I would not classify as a very strong team at this time), and almost...ALMOST...lost. If it hadn't been for that Carolina RZ fumble things may have gone differently (but there's no telling for sure). But then they turn around and do what they did tonight...just can't get a read on them. Denver hasn't even made it close in either contest. They've scored over 80 points while allowing about half that. 3)That tough game against the Panthers was a road game, and they have 3 in the next 5, as opposed to Denver's 2. Basically I think Denver has fewer weaknesses overall and fewer trap games. But there's not much to argue against that Seattle defense... it's the best in the game after what we just saw, in my opinion.

    Dolphins @ Colts

Oooorrrr...he leads the team in targets, catches, and breaks the century mark in only his second game as a Dolphin.

Carolina Panthers: State of the Franchise

As soon as I found out about the Bills' last minute heroics I was visualizing you throwing any object you could find at Rivera's head on the TV screen. The inability to close games out is truly the most heartbreaking thing to watch unfold as a fan.

Seahawks Fans Set Stadium Decibal Volume World Record

I'm just wondering if you guys are serious... If so, have you ever actually BEEN in the stadium? Trust me, it's the crowd and the acoustics. One of the best places to be is about halfway up under one of the overhangs. You won't hear for at least a couple hours afterwards.

    49ers @ Seahawks

All I can say is that was one of the single best defensive performances I've ever seen. People can blame the wet conditions, They can blame the weather delay. But at the end of the day the Niners got rocked by a brick wall...not to mention I doubt any of them can hear right now. Phenomenal performance

    Jets @ Pats

In hindsight, it looks like at least nailed TOs as a key to the game. I didn't know inept receivers would be one.

The 2014 List of Hall of Fame Nominees

Jesus, what a list. This is why I would NEVER be on the selection committee. Nice to see 3 Dolphins on the first year list...all from a bygone day when our defense scared people. Anyway, I tried to narrow the list down by first going through and bolding the guys I thought have earned a spot, and then going from there. Once I got to 15, I realized there was no point in pursuing it further. I just can't do it.

    Fantasy Blunders

Well, for week one, let's see.... - I sat Jared Cook in both of my leagues. In my defense, I was starting Daniels and Gonzo (felt logical). - I sat Steve Smith for Torrey Smith in my NFL.com league, although in fairness a TD would have done wonders to Torrey's final line. - I sat Shane Vereen and Joique Bell in one of my leagues under Eddie Lacy and Stevan Ridley, with the former scoring a significantly higher total than the latter. I don't consider Bell's performance to be very commonplace, but I bet Vereen could have been nice to start in future games if he hadn't been injured. Needless to say, I lost in both of my leagues because of said blunders.

    Browns Discussion

This is probably the biggest point I would stress about him as well...that and the fact that he was NEVER comfortable in the pocket. I expected Miami to bring heat on him, but it just got ridiculous to see him on the ground on what seemed like every other play. The guy needs help to be successful. I was really pleased with how Miami was able to contain him...at least well enough to prevent video game numbers. His talent was my biggest fear heading into that game. No kidding. Cousins was an undisciplined clusterfuck on the line. Just terrible. Cameron's going to bust out. He was outstanding. The lack of Josh Gordon really gutted what could be a decent passing attack. There was no real vertical threat, and Miami had one less thing to worry about. It may honestly be why they got so much pressure on Weeden, too. Bess didn't even miss a beat switching teams and schemes. That one tiptoe sideline catch in particular was a thing of beauty. I can't help but root for his success.
  24. I think if Chip Kelly can find a way to sustain the tempo he is looking for, and the key players stay healthy (and those are both really big ifs), he will find the most success. He's got the tools on the offense to make a fast tempo work...mobile sub-4.5 QB, speedy short and deep route runner, incredibly agile receiving back. And that defense has a new feel to it, and they were oozing confidence with every QB pressure or TFL. I think they may take some teams by surprise. My main concerns are a) one or all of those key assets could end up sidelined with injuries, and B) the fatigue really looked like it was setting in on both sides of the ball. The defense really started to let up late in the game and Griffin and co. almost made them pay for it. Health and sustainment of tempo...those will make Kelly the best new coach in the biz, imo.

    Welcome to IPB 3.4.5

First time I've been on in a while, so the changes were a bit of a shock. I'll get used to it in time like everyone else here, I'm sure. I do miss being able to throw in rep comments, but that's about it that disappoints me.
