    Jordan, Fokou facing 'uphill battle'?

I trust Rolle's playmaking, but his tackling is another story. I wouldn't be "pissed" if either of them won the job. Whoever deserves it it will probably get it. Give these guys a full offseason and let them duke it out.

Claiborne wants to play offense for Cowboys

I think the "yes sir, yes sir, yes sir" phone call made him sound way dumber, and when I heard he got a 4 on the wonderlic, it kind of tied together. It's like his agent said "don't screw this up, whatever they say, answer in yes sir." There is something good to be said about a "yes sir" guy... but when you can't add "yes sir, I'm looking forward to it too" or "yes sir, thank you for the opportunity, I won't let you down"... it makes you sound like a dumbass. It's basically the polite way to answer everything with "K." McNabb got a 12 I think, and I thought he was a pretty smart guy. But a 4 is one of the all time lowest scores I've ever heard of. No matter how much you use not trying as an excuse.

Claiborne wants to play offense for Cowboys

He wants to learn two playbooks? He sounded damn near retarded during that awkward "yes sir, yes sir, yes sir, yes sir" draft day phone call, and he got a 4 on his wonderlic. A frustrated Rob Ryan on day 3 of OTA's: "Okay dipshit. Just run with the fast guy and don't let him catch anything."

    Jordan, Fokou facing 'uphill battle'?

The way I think it will shake out: WILL: Matthews, Rolle MIKE: Ryans, Chaney SAM: Kendricks, Clayton No room to keep any other special teamers since our DL is going to have at least 10 guys. Sorry Fokou and Jordan, but not sorry. You had your chances. They will each play at least a few games somewhere in the league next year when someone gets injured.

Falcons Acquire CB Asante Samuel for 7th Round Draft Pick

Rome wasn't built in an offseason. In hindsight, they could have lowered their asking price for Samuel, but the contract issue would still be there, so would we really have gotten a pick much better than we got this offseason? Giving Asante a shot, and having 3 starting outside corners in the case of unpredictable injuries was worth it to me, because there are exceptions to the rule, but guys with 9 million dollar contracts don't get traded for high picks very often. We've ripped off teams so many times before, it's been a while since we were on the receiving end, so I can swallow freeing up Asante's cap for a 7th round pick. Our only real glaring mistake was not addressing the linebacker position. I said on here that the wide 9 exploits linebackers as soon as Castillo announced it, but I guess the team either didn't see it coming, or felt it wasn't an issue that our prospects couldn't overcome. Lesson learned, DeMeco Ryans earned. The team really came together at the end of the year, and the defense ended the season ranked very high. If Vick would have stayed healthy for just one of those games where we lost the lead when he went down and we made the playoffs, the tune in Eagles nation might be sung a little differently this offseason. I had no expectations going into last year and all the hope in the world. This year, I am expecting way more and hoping nobody gets injured.

    Vezina Trophy Finalists named

It'll be a damn shame if Hank wins this one over Quick. Just like how Bylsma won the Jack Adams over Barry Trotz last year. In the voters' defense, Hank and Bylsma are/were both clear #2's... but Nashville and L.A. just don't have the markets to entice voters to make the right call.

Eagles can get out of D-Jax deal in 2014

The Eagles could be going with the "if you're not planning on playing, we're not planning on paying" mantra, and sticking to it. They've been doing it for a while, even before the Roseman era. They never enter a season with more than a couple million dead space tops. They've also been near the top of their division for a while, so they don't come off as desperate as other teams, and they give players as good chance to consistently get to the playoffs as anyone. They haven't missed the playoffs in back to back years in a long, long, time.

Falcons Acquire CB Asante Samuel for 7th Round Draft Pick

Last offseason was building up towards this season. I did not expect instant results with our free agents and the shortened training camp, and at the time, keeping Asante sounded good with the emergence of the 3 WR base package and disappearance of the FB. And you said it yourself, contract restructuring got in the way with that proposed trade, so it sounds to me like that had nothing to do with the Eagles. Yeah a 7th round pick is really low, I guess Roseman came off really desperate, but if this was a cap/system fit issue all along... a 7th is better than nothing. If Roseman was desperate enough to trade him for a 7th, it is a plain fact that he would have cut him for nothing if he couldn't find a trade at all. The team also had a really good record in games which Vick started and finished. That had as much to do with our final record as anything. And if the Jets beat the Giants in that game near the end of the season... imagine how different this offseason would be, with the reigning champs missing the playoffs. So no, last offseason was not mismanaged if you ask me. It was just a series of unfortunate events like the shortened TC/new DC/no MLB, and Vick's glass body. My expectations for this season are "Super Bowl or bust." Last season they were "Super Bowl please." I expect the Eagles to take the 4 game winning streak they ended the season with and continue into this year with momentum.

NFL Investigates Saints RE: Their "Bounty System"

They should just terminate the coaching staff's contracts and make them go find jobs in the NCAA. Goodell is taking a strong stance against everything else, if he lets the coaches get away with a slap on the wrist for this, it's a bad precedent. I know it's harsh and extreme, but so is paying your players money to intentionally injure someone, and escalating the bounty depending on the level of injury... that second part is the most messed up part IMO. It's not just about getting them off the field for the game to give the Saints an edge, but ending their season, or possibly career. Make an example out of these coaches. The only way to really scare coaches away from bounties in the future is to take their jobs. EDIT: After reading more, seeing that Williams has done this on two other teams... he absolutely should get a lifetime ban. This was also under Payton's eye, and he apparently knew about it, so the lightest punishment would be forfeitting 2 first round picks... and the harshest punishment they should give is to JoePa him, since he knew about it and didn't stop it.

Andy Reid will return to the Eagles

Yeah, because he didn't blitz. And when did our linebackers ever get sacks? You can't say we got that many sacks just because of Washburn. A lot of them were coverage sacks, and it is not a favorable DL system to run as far as run defense. Castillo fixed a lot of mistakes and got some linebackers that probably won't have great NFL careers to have a bunch of nice games down the stretch. And some of the games he got crucified for really were blown out of proportion. The offensive turnovers also didn't do him any favors. Spags would be nice, but I love Castillo's intensity and his general football knowledge to be able to not only switch sides of the ball and suddenly call plays, but to learn on the fly as well as he did and correct the mistakes as well as he did. Because it's not him playing on the field. He has to teach this team what to do, while also learning a little himself on the fly, all in a shortened offseason. And there were some seriously inexperienced players at seriously important positions (entire middle of secondary). I think Juan is something special as far as a coach. There will be other great, experienced defensive schemers available in the future if he bombs next year, we don't have to jump at Spags. The fact that our NFC East rivals scored a combined 27 points in our rematches says that he is a learner and a mistake fixer. Plus... this is Andy and Howie's bed. Give their draft picks one more year, give their rookie DC one more year, and (sigh) give Andy one more year. I believe we can cut Vick for nothing at the end of this or next season as well.

Andy Reid will return to the Eagles

8th ranked total defense and #1 in sacks? And he only got better as the season progressed. I think we see him back next year. If Reid gets another chance, Castillo deserves another chance and at least a full offseason with his team.

DeSean Jackson in debt to Drew Rosenhaus

No wonder he wants that contract so badly and is scared of getting hurt. He needs to grow up.

    Eagles found a DC.

LMFAO are you kidding me? Our entire LB and safety group is full of unproven guys and rookies. That's the whole middle of our secondary. The lockout really killed us and did Castillo no favors. I missed the Cards game, but it still doesn't look like Castillo is solely to blame. Our offense needs to play better in the 4th. We were not supposed to have a shut down defense this year, but we are supposed to have a dominant offense, and I'd be shocked if we have 4 TD's in the 4th all year. I've always said this season has a ton of potential but also a ton of questions... and next year is the year when it's time to get serious or trim the fat. As far as thread digging, go look up the one where Castillo announced the wide 9, and I said our linebackers are probably going to struggle against the run. The wide 9, as far as run defense, is a lot like the 3-4, only worse because there's usually less people on the LOS and the linebackers are typically smaller. And it takes most teams a year to adjust from a 4-3 to a 3-4. Getting high level LB talent is a must this offseason, because this system is going to fail if we keep plugging in average Joe's. You don't hire a guy as green as Castillo and then fire him in the same year unless he's awful... and I don't think he's awful. We are the only team with a losing record and positive net points. Now isn't the time to blow everything up and start over, it's time for them to wake up, get their feet under them, play for themselves and each other, and get some momentum going... either for next year, or in case the NFC East commits suicide. The pressure is off, so let's see how they do when it's not about the dream team or playoffs, it's just the Eagles. I think Castillo can be the right guy for this group, and next year, they are going to come back hungry. The only way I'd want Castillo to leave is if Reid goes with him.

Jacobs hopes to leave Giants after season

I pray he goes to a team with an awful offensive line, and gets shut up for good.
