5 Favorite Players ON Your Team

This list sucks, because half of them are fucking injured, so I'll do two lists. 1. Eric Berry—Dude is an absolute stud. He adds another trick to his bag every year, but he needs to get back onto the field. 2. Tamba Hali—I know, I know. Justin Houston is better, right? Wrong. Hali is the motor that runs that pass rush, and he's a stand-up guy to boot. Pure class mixed with an uncontrollable passion for killing quarterbacks. How do you not love that? 3. Derrick Johnson—Even though he's out for the season, I can't help but put him up there. He's just flat out great. The guy can literally do everything you would ever ask in ILB to do and then some, and his goal line stuffs are becoming KC legend. 4. Jamaal Charles—Obvious picks are obvious. Not even going into this one. 5. Dwayne Bowe—Anymore it seems like he's just flashes of his old self, but look at the user name. The guy is one of my favorite all-time Chiefs. He's on every list. He's still got talent, too. I begrudgingly put some of his recent stumbles on Alex. Now for my favorite "up-and-comers" so to speak. Guys who are actually all out there on Sundays and have a lot of promise. 1. Knile Davis—Wonders never cease. As bad as the Chiefs have been at getting quality QBs over the course of the last 15 years or so, that's how good they've been at getting absolute monsters in the backfield. Davis is just the next in line. 2. Travis Kelce—Gronk part 2? Maybe not quite that bad ass, but the kid is legit. He's as athletic as just about any TE in the game, he has great hands, and he seems to really have a nose for the end zone. What's not to like? 3. Husain Abdula—He's WAY under the radar, but the kid is legit good at what he does. He's an opportunistic guy who's more than adequate in coverage. He's scrappy, he's old, but he's new to me, so he's on the list. 4. Dontari Poe—Dude finally broke out last season, and at 24, the sky is the limit for this mountain of a man. 5. Junior Hemmingway—He doesn't get a lot of play, but he seems to impact the game when he does. He's one of those guys that I just find myself rooting for. Everything about his history screams out of the league in a couple of years, but there's something undeniable about him when he gets on the field.

    Cutler called out

Oh come on man. Eat a Snickers and stop throwing picks. You get a little Jeff George when you're hungry. pls. Not buying it.

    Reactions to Week 5

The shell of the Chiefs is good enough to do some special things, but they aren't healthy enough to be a special team. Also, what the fuck Dee Ford? Rolando McClain is, in fact, taking football seriously for the time being. He was just about out of the league, but that's my most improved player award winner. Bengals gonna Bungle. The Saints are over. They have to dig one out at home against those guys? Bad things, man. Jake Locker is , in fact, very good. That's a shame, because he's probably done in Tennessee. They win that game if not for his fragility, which begs the question, "How many more games would they have won over the years if he could have just stayed out there?" Titans fans aren't full of shit after all. Who knew?

OOOOHHHH YOU FUCK!!! I was just gonna post some Peyton Manning in response to BC talking about how baseball powerhouses always get beat in the playoffs.lolol
  5. Warren Sapp is one of my all-time most hated personalities to ever dawn an NFL jersey. On top of that, he was a fucking cowardly Raider. All of that being said, if he would have signed and brought the Chiefs a championship, it wouldn't have somehow tainted the victory. I don't think that I ever could have celebrated the man, but I most certainly would have celebrated the ring. As for right now, I really can't stand Vick. Never could, even before it came out that he was drowning K9s. If he came to the Chiefs, I would houyhinuioihpbhp all over the site here. If the Chiefs were winning, though, I'd not stop rooting for them. It would be something along the lines of, "Fuck Vick, but you know, Go Chiefs." My least favorite football personality currently is in the NCAA. Nick Saban makes me want to throw things at my TV every time I see his face. He seems to me to be the kind of guy who would murder a kitten just to see a little child cry. It's not that he hates cats or anything. He just loves making kids cry. Even with him on the sidelines though, I'm rooting for the Chiefs. I rooted for them through every half-assed QB and HC they've had since Joe and Marty, and I'm not stopping now. Not for anyone.

Report: Titans may turn to Zach Mettenberger soon

It's really a shame, too, because right up until he got hurt he was carving up that Browns defense. The kid looked like Russel Wilson out there. Some of the plays he was making were pretty remarkable, but his reckless abandon—and a blatant cheap shot—ultimately led to him leaving the game, never to be seen or heard from again. It was a garbage hit, and it ended up costing the Titans the game imo, but Locker is a fragile guy who plays like he's 10 foot tall and bulletproof. Sorry Titans fans. It could have been a beautiful thing.

    Greg Jennings and Karma

The writer saved the best line for last. I literally lol'd at that when I read it. All jokes aside though, Jennings is still pretty good. He just went the "business" route and took his money up front. If he would have stayed in GB, he'd clearly experience more success, but no matter what he did he'd be second fiddle in the receiving core and further down the list in the ultimate pecking order, creating an overall condition of butt-hurt and self-doubt. At least in Minnesota there's so little talent that he can actually legitimately consider himself one of the best players on the team and point fingers. I guess it's a pretty telling commentary though that after saying "All jokes aside" that's what I came up with.

    Quarter Season Awards

Yeah, man. Luck is a straight baller. The kid gets better and better all the time. He's gonna be a great in this league provided he can stay healthy. He's definitely proving to be a as good as advertised. Sometimes hype isn't just hype. Sometimes there's a kid who is so good that even Ray Charles could've seen that shit. Sometimes—and it pains me to say this one—Mel Kiper is right. Andrew Luck is the real deal, and soon enough even his doubters will take notice. For the record, Watt was my pick for MVP, so I did vote different on one of the Kemp. What he's doing on the defensive side of the ball is nothing short of flat out amazing. The dude can flat out fly, he's a freaking house with legs, he's got hands like umbrellas, and he's even playing a little TE now. The guy needs to get laid, for the sake of the other 31 teams. Seriously. On the offensive side of the ball though, you can't tell me that there's any one player more important to the success of their football team than Andrew Luck. With the stats to back it up and the uncanny ability to pull wins out of his hat, he's getting my vote for OPY.

    Quarter Season Awards

We voted the same on every single category... Apocalypse now? lol I should have known that so many would dismiss Luck. Yes, he makes mistakes. No, he's not perfect. Yeah, he's beasting like the monster QB that he is. The kid has the memory of a goldfish when it comes to his bad decisions, he fears nothing, he plays like a child and 10 year vet simultaneously, and right now he's probably going to beat you, no matter who you are.

    Chiefs @ 49ers

Sour grapes much? Look, even if they lose, it's not gonna be a blowout like that. Realistically, KC is probably gonna win this thing by double digits. They're NOT getting beat up like that. Alex is out for blood, Charles and Davis are gonna wreck shit, and Bowe is suddenly 2010 Bowe again. Forget about it. Game over if that defense shows up at all.

Well, it appears that you're getting what you asked for. ANOTHER extra inning game, and another extra inning win. I really never thought baseball could be so exciting for me, but this is better than... yes, I'm about to say it... some of the sex I've had. Hell, maybe all of it. I've had plenty of that, but this is like Haley's fucking comet, MLB style. The shit doesn't happen often, if ever. I don't even know what's going on! No post, it doesn't count. Still, that heart is ALL OVER the field. These boys are on a FUCKING MISSION!!!! GET 'EM YOU FUCKS!!!!!!

I'm trying really hard here too keep things in perspective, but... FUCK it. I'm pumped guys. Been waiting literally a lifetime. Phil Collins style, I been waiting for this moment.

These Thursday Night Games Have To Go

They won't get rid of the Thursday games, and here's why: It's Goodell's job security gauge. They purposely hand pick the worst possible games while using the guise of "division matchup" to try and trick the public. They then look at the ratings after the game. If people will take time out of their day to watch Rodgers eat the Vikings' lunch or to see the Cards and Rams have a who-sucks-worse contest, Goodell doesn't have to worry. "Yeah, I dropped the ball on the ray rice thing, but it's whatever. Titans v.Jags still got dem ratings doe. Josh Gordon? FUCK'um. Browns v. Ravens was a hit, so you can all suck it. I ain't goin nowhere.

Who is the best QB, RB, WR trio?

There are a few teams that could make a case for a snub with the 49ers on the list. HELL, I'd take Smith, Bowe, and Charles over kap and co.

Chiefs believe Derrick Johnson done for year

Yes. Tis a sad day for KC fans. While we disagree about the talent level on this team, one thing I'm sure we agree on is that they're thin just about everywhere. I don't wanna say RIP playoff hopes after week one.... buuuuuut.... Let's just say the eternal KC sports optimist in me is certainly being tested.

Chiefs believe Derrick Johnson done for year

RIP Chiefs playoff hopes. This isn't as bad as losing Charles for the year would be, but it's pretty close. You lose a guy like this, and it changes everything. I feel as bad for Johnson as I do for the rest of the Chiefs too, because as MSG said earlier, he's not getting any younger. I really hope he can come back in top form, for everyone's sake. It's a shame that his teams haven't experienced more success, because he might have had a shot at the HOF. Yes, he's that good.

    Happy birthday, Trident

Happy birthday dude! You'll be an old man soon... I hope you had a good one, man.
  22. All teams with QB contract issues can thank Joe Flacco for the current state of affairs involving QB contract negotiations. It's why the Bears felt it necessary to handcuff themselves to Brandon Marshall's sidekick, it's why the Cowboys (to a lesser extent) were forced to pay Romo as much as they did, and it's why the Alex Smiths of the world are feeling entitled to the kind of money that was previously reserved for true make-all-the-throw franchise QB's. Smith is a better QB than the likes of Flacco or Cutler. I truly believe that. From a strictly talent standpoint, I'd say Romo is better than Smith, but that's another—much longer—discussion. I'd probably still take Smith. For more on this, start a thread. Smith definitely deserves to to get paid, but I don't think he deserves to "get paid," if that makes sense. I'd put him in the 12-14 mil per year range with big incentives for winning the division, winning playoff games, leading in passing categories, etc... If he even sniffs 18-20 mil though, my blood will boil, killing me from the inside out. I just can't see tying the metaphorical knot with a guy who can't stretch the field due to noodle arm syndrome. Smith played admirably down the stretch, and he was nothing short of remarkable in that infamous playoff game. He even put the ball right on Bowe's shoulder down the sideline on 4th and 11 to seemingly put the Chiefs in game winning territory only to watch Bowe make an incomprehensible foot folly. Smith is over 30 now, and his window for winning is closing. Still, I think a 4-5 year 60 mil contract is certainly fair compensation and has been earned. I'd like to see how the next season plays out, obviously, but unless he suddenly becomes Peyton Manning, he's not worth the "big bucks." What say you?

Update: Chiefs, Alex Smith do 4-year, $68M extension

Tell me, please, what QBs can carry a team to a SB win? Who's done that? Who's going to do that? I know you just beam and beam about how great Rivers is, but how far has he taken the Chargers all by himself? The Chargers have had a lot of "really good" 9-7 years with one-and-done playoff runs. I know you said that you wouldn't want them to be in a situation like the Chiefs are in, but—even if Smith is a terrible as the picture you paint him in—based on results, it seems like they already are. Chargers aside though, I'm good with the deal they signed. Smith is pretty good, and for the last few years he's gotten better every season. We'll see how it all plays out once the season starts, but on paper everything is fine. The sky is not falling on Arrowhead.

How Based WarBortles became the Jags QB of the future

This might be the biggest homer slurp thread I've ever seen. Campin' goes full mast over a backup QB lol.

Bucs trade a draft pick and TE Tim Wright to Pats for Logan Mankins

Do you really think that the rebounding Falcons or the riding-the-high Panthers will have nothing to say about that? "Easily" sounds a bit ridiculous to me. The Pats have a knack for getting rid of guys that can't do what they want them to do anymore. We know this. I'm not saying he's completely done, but judging from the Pats' track record, he probably doesn't have much left in the tank.
