The death of criminals who were convicted of crimes so heinous it warranted the death penalty, not *just* fellow Americans. Now, if you're saying Perry executes people who are innocent, (with a source besides Al Sharpton, because that guy doesn't count as credible), then that'd be a different argument. Not that I like Perry at all, I plan to vote for Paul- voted for him in '08 as well.

I might get a DeAngelo Williams one soon. Turns out that one of my friends in my class was on the same highschool football team with him, and Williams gave him tickets to see the Jacksonville/Carolina game since he's going to be in the area. Of course, I think I'd rather have DeAngelo actually start playing like a running back who just got paid a bunch of money.

Why is there a tiny little bit of blue around Tulsa, lol? They have some Lions or Vikings in there?
-
Phew, narrowly escaped watching Denver/Tennessee over Houston/New Orleans.
-
I think it's going to take more than to "start winning." After last year, they did go to the NFC Championship, and then people got the impression he wasn't tough when he sat out. Only a Superbowl victory is going to make Cutler's attackers shut up now.
-
Then the NFL would have to fine him for unnecessary roughness.
-
If we could get a run-game going at all, the Panthers would also be a force to be reckoned with. Until that happens, despite Newton's big numbers, we're not going to be able to beat good teams consistently.

No need for the insults, mate. If I wanted that, I'd've stayed on NFL.com. If you don't agree with me, fine, no need to be an asshole just because we disagree. Pileups don't generally start with one guy laying on the football and then everyone else piling on two seconds later. Flacco is on the ball, has it clearly recovered. If we're going to say that people can dive on top of players just because there was a fumble 5 seconds ago- despite the fact that he appears to have the ball- and we can hit him while he's lying on the ground in order to try to force the ball out, people are going to get hurt. There's a big difference between that situation, and a situation where the ball is loose and 3 or 4 players dive at it near-simultaneously. Again- doesn't deserve a fine, but I can see why they threw a flag.

Haha! It is good not to have the worst QB in the league starting for us anymore. (Not that Denver does. I think the Chiefs might have it now that McCown is no longer starting.) -
Except... there wasn't a pileup. It was just Flacco. Again, did not deserve a fine, but it's a hit on a defenseless player in my eyes.
-
Okay thanks.

Yes I have argued before that Fantasy Football makes you a worse person, (kinda tongue in cheek). You know what the first thing that went through my head was when I heard Hixon was hurt? That means more playing time for Nicks! (I have him in my FF league.) Then I had to hit myself.

Your 1.5 QB formations? How do you have half a QB? You mean Orton+Tebow? -
That may have been what was intended, but since the ref was coming at it from the same angle we were watching it, I can definitely see why he could have thought it was a hit on a defenseless player. From his perspective, which is pretty much the same one the camera shows, it looks flag-worthy to me. But, that said, I don't see why its a fine.
-
OT, but wasn't the score 30-12? Minus the huge play, assume they punted on the drive, and I still see an 11-point lead for the Saints.
-
Yeah, I wouldn't say it was a late-hit, that was a mis-call, IMO. It was more along the lines of unnecessary roughness- hitting a defenseless player.
-
Won't matter against Carolina, since our run-game has vanished into a black hole. Might hurt against Green Bay, though.
-
I would completely agree, except, ya know. Cam Newton. I hope Gabbert does bad this week, but he's looked decent. Hopefully the extra two weeks the defense got in practice enables them to do better against a rookie QB than the Cards did. I'll even take a Packers-esque performance, give him a lot of yards if you want, just take the ball away four times.
-
Is there a week 2 list? Pretty sure McCown is the QB, but this is a cool idea- I'd like to see the rest.
-
Okay, well, I call BS on that. Unless I am totally and completely seeing the play wrong, Flacco has clearly recovered *well* before Morgan leaves his feet to go for the ball. Yeah after watching it a few more times, Flacco has the ball for a good second or two before Morgan jumps on him. Doesn't deserve a fine, but clearly a penalty to me.
-
Yeah, I know, that's why I think it's a ticky-tack penalty. On the one hand, what if Flacco gets up? He ain't exactly a small guy. On the other hand, like GoodellFTL said, he doesn't have to launch himself into him. The argument he was going for the ball doesn't work, IMO, because Flacco has clearly recovered it. There is no scuffle for the ball at all. He just wanted a shot on the QB, OR he wasn't thinking about the fact that Flacco was just laying there. There should be an unwritten rule that QBs don't try to fake someone out, like, for example, by starting a slide and then diving forward, ala I think it was Andy Dalton, (who gets a pass because he's a rookie). So, a QB doesn't get on a football and lay there, and then try to jump up and run afterwards- it's the only considerate thing to do considering that the refs are going to penalize anyone who tries to get on the QB as fast as they possibly can- by jumping on them. It would cut down on penalties for both teams if the defense knows the QBs aren't going to try something by using the current rules against them, and the QB doesn't have to get speared when he's already lying down. A win-win.
-
Eh. That looks like a late hit to me. Of course, what gets me mad is the inconsistency here, I've seen several of those plays not called as a late hit. This one, Flacco has clearly recovered the ball, and is clearly laying there on it with no intention of getting up, and one guy drops on him, and the other lunges at him. It's a little ticky-tack, sure, and in no way do I think it deserves a fine, unless we're just gonna hand out fines for every penalty now, as it seems like Goodell is intent on doing, but it's definitely a late hit to me.

Agreed, two entirely different things. This is just in bad taste, and there was no need for it at all.
