    2020 Democratic Primary Race

Kamala Harris dropped another 5 points in Quinnipiacs latest poll. She’s down to 7% after being up to 20% after debates 1.

Yeah taking down big pharma would be a top priority for me. Didn’t someone (I think sarge??) make a thread where we all listed our top priorities. Might be fun to go back through there and see how we’ve changed / shifted our ideals. But ya, it’s definitely In that range of importance for me personally. It’d be in my 100 days agenda for sure.

Something else to think about... these drugs that cost so much money to do proper R&D on are 100x more expensive here in the United States than anywhere else. I understand the costs associated with doing business and that the point of doing business is to make money — but there’s a reason Americans foot the bill. It’s because our political “advocates” allow big pharma to run wild. ScientificAmerican did a study on this... take the 20 most common drugs. Americans spend 3x as much as Brits do. For the same. Exact. Drugs. We’re also 6x higher than Brazil. And 16x more expensive than India. Is the excuse that these drug companies aren’t making money in Europe? Brazil? India? Doubtful.

I didn’t say we wouldn’t get Medicare for all. I think every Democrat supports some variant of it in some way, don’t they? If a Democrat beats Trump the absolute least we get is a more expansive Obamacare. Also... how would Bernie being President mean Schumer and Pelosi are done? And even if they were, how is Bernie guaranteeing the new Senate/House leaders are behind his super progressive ideals? When was the last time a candidate ran on an idea and then had that exact thing pass as President without some crazy concessions prior to passage? I’m not sure ever. President Bern would get something passed, but it’d be a shell of what he’s championing currently.

Sean and Thanatos acting like one Medicare for All Bill is like every other Medicare for All Bill. Sean and Thanatos acting like because Tulsi has supported Sanders and/or his bill before or currently that that means her medicare for all would be identical. I take you all back to debate one. Question was point blank... Do you support abolishing private insurance. Bernie: Fuck yes, get rid of it tomorrow Tulsi: No That's a huge difference on it's own. That's the insurance plans of 150M people that Tulsi is valuing that Bernie isn't/doesn't. This is the Medicare for All Act Tulsi is co-sponsoring: Edit: And let me just say that this goes back to what I was talking about earlier. It’s really easy to shout vague and general ideas “ LoL Tulsi supports Medicare for all 2 guyz “. Issues and differences between candidates and their plans are more complex, however. Also, I think it’s important to note that the plans of (for example) Bernie and Lizzy will never pass as is. They will have to make a lot of concessions and the passed legislation will be much more moderate in lean. There’s a reason that the Dem controlled house made significant changes (less progressive) to Bernie’s version from the Senate. If people are voting for Sanders/Lizzy because of the sheer volume of ideas they are pushing — I’ve got news for you. It’s not happening. Not how they want it too anyway. Bernie has been doing this for 100 years and made very little progress. He doesn’t have the ability to whip Congress enough to adopt his bill without serious alterations.

How many people face medical emergencies compared to those who don't? Modernhealthcare.com says there are 43 M people with unpaid medical bills out there, there are roughly 150M in the American middle class. That's not a great trade off. I posted other statistics a few pages ago in a discussion with Sean that you can go back and read if you want to. And idk what plan you read, but the last version I read, he doesn't lay out what how he covers the cost AT ALL. He has a huge PDF document on his website with OPTIONS to pay for it... Not how he will pay for it, but how he MIGHT pay for it. i will read any literature you have that is newer than his website PDF though ( https://www.sanders.senate.gov/download/options-to-finance-medicare-for-all?inline=file ) Highlights Include: It DOES hurt the middle class, especially when you talk about abolishing private health insurance -- which takes away insurance from 150M people or so. 4% tax tacked right onto employees... 7.5 to the employer which you are CRAZY to think that employees aren't going to end up paying for.... 11.5% more of my check is going to be stolen from me? Fuck that noise. Find a better way. He has other options listed there, these taxes should not be seen as viable. Is "devastate" hyperbole? Maybe, I am not going to argue semantics with you. But this hurts middle class families A LOT. The middle class has already shrunk by 10+% in the last 50 years -- Bernie wouldn't help that. Bernie (and Sean) of course argued that middle class families, even though being taxed out the ass, will actually save money somehow. Multiple sources, including politifact, have already debunked those claims. The studies Bernie uses as his argument are outdated and extremely misleading (according to politifact, not me). His claims that families will save money have been rated as "mostly false". To help pay for this plan, Bernie is expecting hospitals to charge approximately half of their current rates. Hospital prices ARE insane, I agree, but... we pass this bill and we're expecting hospitals to just half their rates? Really? Good luck.

She isn't the ONLY one, but facts get you to poll at 1-2% typically ha. People don't like hearing facts (at least, that's what they tell us). I think that's more the media thinking everyone is stupid. I don't want to hear a senseless idealogue attack someone else based on vague ideologies and identity politics, " You're a socialist ", " You're just listing off GOP talking point", etc etc... What I do want to hear are those facts. Tell me not only what you want to do but how you are going to do it. It's why Bernie fumbles every single time they ask him how he is paying for his programs... It's easy to sit up there and scream " free Healthcare, free college, guaranteed jobs for everyone " etc... That's (mostly) easy stuff to blindly believe in. But you start losing people when you tell them to achieve those your plan calls for the decimation of the middle class. That's where you pique my interest. I want to hear those facts, facts about your opponents record that are shady. Separate yourself but do it the right way and that's what Tulsi is doing. I like it because on twitter for example... every post Kamala has made since the debate are people questioning her record now -- and they should. She still hasn't been able to defend it. I am sure she will be better prepared next time.

Yeah, I mean the nomination is still a long shot for Tulsi... but she helped Biden a lot and gave herself some name recognition. She’s put herself in a good position to be a cabinet member or potential V.P. (unless Harris still wins obv)

Her biggest opponent is going to be the military industrial complex. Now that she has a little momentum I’m sure the smear campaigns are going to intensify. She loves Assad , etc etc

Yeah, that's what you say when you have nothing else to say. When you can't defend the truths hurled at you. When you can't run from your past. Cunt.

https://reason.com/2019/07/31/tulsi-gabbard-calls-kamala-harris-a-drug-warrior-and-dirty-prosecutor-shes-right/ Harris really fucked herself tonight. She tried going after Joe again like she did in debate 1 but he was much better prepared. Then she side stepped (multiple times) Tulsi’s absolutely devastating comments about her record. Shes got to be the big loser tonight. From my view anyway.

    2020 Democratic Primary Race

Bernie was center stage last night (because he’s running the highest of the night one candidates) — that’s why they invoke him so much. That’s what happens with top candidates. Do you not think they will do something similar with Biden tonight ? I also contend that the polling is because Warren is threatening Bernie something fierce. And idk if Bernie and Warren being so friendly to one another last night is going to help him much. Those two are fighting for the same exact base. They are going to need to attack each other’s policies and give voters a real reason to choose one over the other. If they don’t their probably both losing out.

What was the last movie you watched?

I loved the Lion King (just got back from it). Some of the voices did stick out a bit... Donald Glover was awesome though, IMO. John Oliver (Zazu) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (Scar) were the biggest disappointments for me. Billy Eichner at first struck me as bad, but he grew on me as the movie went on. That Mufasa falling scene was indeed the worst scene, visually speaking in the movie. I don't usually hone in one something like that hardcore during the movie, but that stood out like a sore thumb. I think Disney has missed on their villains pretty hardcore their last few movies. Scar was kind of a let down for me and Jafar was trash tier. I think they failed Rafiki too. Voice was meh and seems like they scaled his character back. The scene (in the animated version) where he figures out Simba is still alive is one of my favorites. The slow burn (over a couple of minutes) of Rafiki siting up in his tree and slowly realizing what he has come across, the cracking off the coconut (or whatever thing that is) and using that residue to paint on the mane of the face of simba to symbolize the roots he crushes and puts on Simbas forehead when he's a baby... the crazed laughter as he he's painting that mane. It might be a small scene to a lot of people and I get that, but it was a really significant and vivid memory for me. They jsut rushed it way too much in the live action version with a shittier Rafiki and too much build up with the hair being carried by the birds, shit out by the giraffe, rolled by the dung beetle, carried by ants etc... Even though that was all cool, it felt like they added all that to take away from Rafiki. No thanks. The realism was almost too real for me when it comes to the characters / animals. but the scenery and atmosphere and everything was also CGI / photo realistic and it was gorgeous. I appreciated and demanded a very close live action carbon copy of the original, and that's what we got. I liked it much much more than I thought. Not as great as the cartoon, but an overall good effort. Probably like 7/10... 6.5 maybe.

Baltimore was ranked as USA Today’s most dangerous city last year and moved down to 3rd this year. Bernie calling Baltimore a 3rd world country is not far from previous Trump “shithole” remarks. Also... (former) mayor of Baltimore ? https://twitter.com/SteveGuest/status/1155574627869122560?s=20

Top 100 NFL Players of 2019

Kenny Clark is an elite interior defender. If you don’t think so, you don’t watch him enough. With that said, Hicks is also a monster and should be much higher on this list IMO. Thats the flaws of this list. Players don’t really study or do anything to make it... it just hypes the overhyped. The guys who are on sports center every week, the guys who get the most tweet mentions or whatever. Those are the guys that get higher up on this list.

Seems too specific of criteria, even at face value, that I am not sure how many people who really benefit. No doubt some, but undoubtedly nowhere near as many that deserve it. Pass.

Top 100 NFL Players of 2019

DISRESPECT. lol. I get not taking PFF at face value. But even assuming their stats are wrong, are they really so wrong that he goes from by far the best pass protector per snap to... whatever you are thinking he is? His skill set is far beyond what you give him credit for. Add to the fact that his QB holds onto the ball for 12 seconds every pass play and its even more impressive.

Top 100 NFL Players of 2019

Just for comparisons sake... Pro Football Focus had a list of its Top 50 players. Bakhtiari was their best offensive lineman and 13th overall. Over the last three years, he has the lowest rate of pressures in his protection of any lineman in the league. Crazy to see the disrespect from other places. Baker played well last year, but I am really interested to see how he fares this season. The Browns have loaded up, but I wonder if his ego will get in the way.
