It helps the government get richer. It's a money grab, plain and simple. The only logical thing is the gov would use it to pay down the deficit. But then again, that's like giving the kid who just charged an Aston Martin and twelve mansions more money so he can pay off his credit card bill. Will they actually do it? Or continue to use it how they please? As our government has shown in the past, they'll likely use it how they want, not how it should be. But again, this does absolutely nothing to help out specifically the middle class. When I first heard Obama say that months back I just had to hit him with the:

No. 10 Clemson at No. 4 Florida State

I remember watching this game. The entire first half Clemson was getting chunks of yards and TDs off of gadget/trick plays. I said to the people watching with me, "When they run out of trick plays, they're finished." That's exactly what happened, though they did get another TD later on, but it was in garbage time.

How'd your team do this week, TGP?

First Bengals drive, the Jags pass rush actually drives the tackle into Dalton forcing the bad pass behind his receiver who tips it in the air and Kyle Bosworth intercepts it and looks like he might return for the TD, so I'm all like: Then Bosworth inexplicably just drops the football even though nobody touches him and the Bengals recover #BecauseJaguars and I'm like: The drive continues, Dalton gets pressure again and throws towards A.J. Green who is perfectly covered by Rashean Mathis who jumps the route, with all green in front of him for the pick... but he drops it, #BecauseJaguars, leaving me: Bengals get a FG, then the next drive Gabbert dinks and dunks his way down the field, finally getting in 1st and goal and I yell out loud, "PLAY ACTION TO MARCEDES LEWIS!" in which the Jaguars do exactly, as Gabbert hits Lewis for the TD with a perfect throw and catch. 7-3 Jags, the perfect answer to their defense dropping the ball (literately), and I'm going: After that the offensive line can't block a 12 year old girl, Gabbert reverts back to Girl Hair Gabbert, and the defense let's Dalton sit back like he's VIP at the local spa and deliver balls to A.J. Green who burns ACL Mathis all day. Also letting the Bengals run down their throats. Leaving me: But suddenly, on 3rd and goal from the 1 yard line, with the Bengals likely about to run it in for a killshot, the normally sure handed Green-Ellis has the ball punched out of his hands by Jeremy Mincey and the Jags recover for a touchback and suddenly the Jags are back in the game, so I'm thinking: Out of nowhere. The Jags can pass block, and Gabbert is actually hitting WRs like Blackmon and moving the chains. They drive down the field, get all the way inside the red zone and threaten to make it a 17-14 game. Gabbert throws too low for his WR Elliott who still makes the catch but because of having to dive low he is short a yard on 3rd down. So it's 4th and 1. The momentum has finally shifted to the Jags, the defense has been getting beat by Dalton's quick throws, and the Jags have lost all semblance of a pass rush. They're deep in Bengals territory and with a 4th down conversion here, the momentum could slide even more in the favor likely leading to a TD and making it a game. BUT... #BecauseJaguars, Mike Mularkey sends out the kicking team, and kills all the momentum as the crowd becomes silent for the remainder of the game, causing me (and most of the fans in attendance) going: Rest of the game is the Bengals just dominating and the Jags not able to do anything. But at that point I was:

So sad. Gene Smith just isn't getting it done. I've held out patience with him longer than a lot of guys, but there's just no excuses left. Hated the Gabbert pick, but was hoping I was wrong and Gene was right. Gabbert wasn't even impressive in college at Mizzou, another one of those QB's that light it up in Pro Day's and the Combine with "big arms" that just can't cut it in the NFL. I saw bad eye level, can't operate in tight pockets or change delivery in crowds. Both huge red flags, it looked like he changed the eye level thing in the preseason and against Minnesota but old habits are hard to break. I think he could be a serviceable backup in a couple years though.

    Bengals @ Jags

Yeah I'm talking more like seeing what we have with Gabbert for the rest of the year, and if by the end of year two we're not seeing big improvements, you gotta start competition at the position via a vet like Henne or another rookie. It's not all Blaine's fault, the offensive line is letting guys in there within 2-3 seconds which is unacceptable, there's WRs having their routes ran for them by CBs and even LBs (Burfict did this to Blackmon twice Sunday), that's unacceptable as well. Most Jags fans are saying Blackmon had a good game but I disagree. I thought he just played okay, and was inconsistent. He had 6 catches on 10 targets, we were forcing him the ball, and a lot of the times he wasn't running good routes. He at times (or maybe the play just allowed him to be that open), and obviously he made the plays when he did, but too often he's getting blanketed by coverage because he's not running effective routes yet. But he's a rookie WR, that comes with experience. He has to be a technician at the position because he doesn't have the speed or big size to just physically dominate in the NFL. He needs to improve his route running. I've been a supporter of Gene Smith because of guys like Cox, Monroe, Jennings, etc. but he needs to stop trading away extra picks to go up and get guys he falls in love with. He always talks about trusting his board, but at the same time you see the Blackmon pick, and it looks like a need pick for sure. No doubt Blackmon is a good young player, but he's not top 5 worthy IMO. But Gene trades up, and gets him. We could of stayed in our spot, and picked up Fletcher Cox who we were rumored to be looking at in our #7 spot. He's an absolute beast for Philly right now, last night It pained me to see him tossing Gs around like rag dolls and breaking up plays in the backfield. Meanwhile earlier in the day I'm watching Alualu get driven back and pancaked as an average RB like BGE running through his gap and churning out 6 yard runs. I know Alualu is still recovering from knee surgery, but man, it's painful to watch. Or we could of traded back, racked up more picks and got a Chandler Jones. Janoris Jenkins too if we traded out of the first into the early 2nd. Not a character guy though, so I doubt they even looked at him (sigh.) Jenkins is an absolute stud at CB for the Rams though. This team is so frustrating man. We need some changes or else we'll continue to be mediocre. By now this is year 4 for Gene Smith, in the beginning we had to rebuild, so I exercised patience, but this is the year when you're supposed to see the fruition and it looks like we're still in year 2-3. Ugggh.

    Bengals @ Jags

Yeah, the entire roster needs upgrading. The offensive line is built to run block and seem to know nothing about technique and communication for pass blocking. Eben Britton played so bad he got benched for an undrafted Free Agent today... think about that. He let Geno Atkins eat for most of the game, when the UDFA came in, the Jags actually moved the ball somewhat and Gabbert didn't have two dudes interrogating him in the backfield. But Gabbert and the WRs continued to suck it up even with time. Meester let a guy run unblocked right into Blaine for a sack and he blocked... nobody. Obviously a miscommunication with the carousel going on at LG. All those empty sets were the dumbest thing I've ever seen. In empty sets you need quick, or supremely big physical WRs to get off the press. As well as a precise, elite talent QB. The Jags have none of those. It invites the blitz, the bump and run, and almost always ends in a sack if you don't have those two crucial elements to your passing attack. Just like the Texans game, the Jags got out played, out coached, and it exposed the lack of talent on the team. The good news for them is Eugene Monroe looks legit, instead of inconsistent like past years. Same with Derek Cox, he looks legit as well. Rashean Mathis still looks like a FS playing CB (he was drafted as a FS actually and moved to CB.) I've said time and time again he struggles in man when he has to run with the WR and turn around to play the ball. He's best when he's looking towards the QB, reading his eyes and the WR's body. That's how he's gotten all his INTs (and how he nearly got one today, but "Because Jaguars" he of course dropped it.) The only players I would keep on the Jags are MJD, Monroe, Cox, Nwaneri, Knighton, Mincey (but not as your #1, he's a classic "other guy"), Posluszny, Landry, Lowery, Daryl Smith (been hurt all year and it's killing the defense, but he is getting old), Rashad Jennings, Branch (just off potential, he's a rook), Blackmon (see Branch), and Shorts. Everyone else? Blow it up. They suck. Alualu is a bum. Gene Smith (GM) is just not that good. He's actually worse than Shack Harris and I didn't think it was possible. Jags missed out on so many players so Gene could move up and get his guy. They've had I think the 3rd least draft picks since he's been GM. Because he trades away picks to move up and pick guys like Blaine Gabbert. I hated the pick when it happened (didn't like Gabbert coming out of the draft), gave him a shot and have actually always been patient and supportive, but he's just not good unless you have the best offensive line in the game. He's like a poor man's Drew Bledsoe but with some front line speed and absolutely no instincts in the pocket. Poor eye level, runs into sacks, short arms throws, can't operate in tight pockets. You can't do that in the NFL. That's David Carr type stuff right there. Gabbert would be a decent backup IMO. Time to tank for Geno Smith.

Uhhh... how are Johnson or Paul your normal, run of the mill puppet? These guys have like zero chance to get elected BECAUSE they aren't your run of the mill puppet. Obama and Romney are, they're basically paid for by the financial giants that run this country. But yes, the system is a load of shit.

    2013 Bacon Shortage

I will eat potatoes, but never been a fan. I generally don't like anything that qualifies as, "comfort food." Anything that's a bunch of stuff to fill you up. Speaking of stuff, I absolutely HATE stuffing, like what a lot of people eat for Thanksgiving. Matter of fact, I hate Thanksgiving, just because of the food people usually eat at Thanksgiving. The only thing that I don't dislike is green beans, and pecan pie. But turkey? Meh. Potatoes? Meh. Cranberries? No thanks. I dunno, I'm a skinny dude though, I usually just stick to chicken, tuna, salmon, beef, vegetables, limited fruit and... well that's about it. I don't even really eat bread, or any grains (including beans, which is a grain) for that matter. My last doctors appointment he came back after I did the check up, blood work and all and he sat down and had to pause and had a look of disbelief and said, "Well... I never get to say this but, well, keep doing what you're doing, you're in immaculate health. In fact, the most healthy person I've come across in a few years." I don't even really exercise that much. I play basketball every other week or so. I do push ups, squats and pull ups every so often. Just when I feel up to it really. I do ride my bike around town for errands instead of driving (mostly because of gas prices though.) I don't go running at all (except basketball.) In fact I've heard doing a lot of long distance and long extended periods of running is actually bad for you. They say it's best to just sprint for 15 minutes (not entirely, but sprint as fast and hard and long as you can, take a breath, then do it again during a 15 minute time period.) Walking is also I guess the best thing to do instead of jogging forever. It's what humans were made to do. Walk a lot, and sprint when predators came about or when you had to kill something to eat it. Makes sense, When he talked about my health, I told the doctor about my diet, and he was surprised I didn't eat grains. Then I told him, "Well if I'm the healthiest person you've met in awhile, there you go..."

    General Election 2012 Thread

A-fucking-men brother. He's getting my vote as well. I actually had never registered to vote, and did just to vote for this guy over Obama and Romney (I'm 26 by the way.) In regards to Obama's tax the rich more plan to give everyone a fair shot: How in the world is taxing the rich more going to help the middle class? Seriously, I don't get how that's going to work? All it looks like to me is a cash grab by the government. Some of my friends who are Obama supporters seriously think they're going to be given money by the government that was taxed away from the rich, like the government is some giant monolithic Robin Hood. That shit just blows me away. I always ask them how it's going to help us, the middle class (although I'm more lower middle class.) They can't come up with an answer, and I haven't heard how Obama plans to make that happen either. I'm guessing he'd say they'd use it for more social programs or something? I dunno, sounds like a stupid plan to me, and I'm no rich Republican. Just using common sense here.

L.A. City Council approves downtown stadium

Yeah I think Jacksonville's lasts to that same exact year too. Like I said though, teams only move due to stadium issues, Bucs and Jags will stay, the Jags are even adding on to the stadium, so that's not really the sign of an owner trying high tail it out of there. Jayrus, if it helps, the Chargers are the most likely team to move to L.A. so technically California will not be getting another team, they'll merely be moving one north about an hour and a half (used to live in San Diego myself.) I mean, I know you want a team in Oregon (actually lived in Portland myself too lol) but if you're a Seahawks fan what would you do? Immediately dump the Seahawks and root for the new team? Or would your allegiance be strong and you wouldn't even root for the new team in your area? None of us really want another team in L.A. regardless, but I don't see the reasons for you getting so angry is all.

L.A. City Council approves downtown stadium

Miami is second last in attendance above Cincinnati, but they won't move. Too much history, and it's a big market. Tampa has slightly better attendance than Miami, 4th worst, compared to 2nd worst. But not as much history and a smaller market than Miami. It's possible. But I've heard nothing once about the Bucs moving. Plus they have a newer stadium and teams always move because of stadium issues. San Diego has the bad attendance, black outs, and the stadium issues. Plus they're originally from Los Angeles. It's looking like they'll be the poor team taken away so football can fail in L.A. again. They've always talked about taking two teams though, so who knows. It's such a bad idea though, L.A. just isn't a football city. Hoops and baseball, always.
