Seattle and Minnesota are currently occupying the NFC wild-card spots. The Vikings lost to the Patriots, 24-10, in New England in Week 13. Minnesota is 1-5-1 when it allows 20 or more points this season and 5-0 when it holds opponents under 20 points. The Seahawks defeated the 49ers, 43-16, in Seattle in Week 13, their third win in a row. The Seahawks are 5-0 against teams under .500 and 2-5 against teams at .500 or better this season, based on current records, with their two wins coming against Dallas (7-5) and Carolina (6-6). Russell Wilson threw for four touchdowns and no interceptions in the win over the 49ers, his fourth consecutive game with multiple touchdowns and no picks. Since Week 5, Wilson has 22 touchdowns, two interceptions and a 128.3 quarterback rating, second-highest in the league over that span behind Drew Brees at 128.9 (min. 100 attempts). Adam Thielen had 28 yards receiving and one touchdown on five catches last week. In the first eight games of the season, Thielen averaged 9.3 receptions and 115.6 receiving yards. In his last four games, he has averaged 6.0 receptions and 60.3 receiving yards. The Seahawks lead the league in rushing offense with 148.8 yards per game. The Vikings have the third-worst rushing offense in the league at 86.1 yards per game. However, Seattle allows 5.08 yards per carry, highest in the NFL, while Minnesota allows just 3.74 yards per carry, fifth lowest in the NFL.
Vin+ 3,121 Posted December 11, 2018 Quote Vikings fired OC John DeFilippo. The Vikings had big expectations on offense after signing Kirk Cousins this offseason, and they simply have not met them, especially as of late. The final straw was a disheartening loss to the Seahawks on Monday night in which Minnesota did not score until deep into garbage time. Considered an up-and-comer when the Vikings hired him, it will be interesting to see where DeFilippo lands once the coaching carousel starts spinning in January. Giants coach Pat Shurmur tried to take Stefanski with him when he left last offseason, but the Vikings blocked the interview request. There was some thought Minnesota should have just promoted Stefanski after Shurmur left, and now he will get his shot. Considering coach Mike Zimmer's recent comments, Stefanski will likely lean on the running game a bit more than DeFilippo did this season.
