2020 Democratic Primary Race

Recommended Posts

Has nothing to do with Bernie. Has to do with the DNC forcing people to vote in-person in a pandemic and threatening Wisconsin with losing delegates if they postponed.

Saying they would rather have Trump than Sanders just sounded like Sean level conspiracy stuff and not like “unrelated to Sanders”. But that’s just how I read it, so probably my bad.

DNC is obv corrupt, and I agree with you Re:Wisconsin but the primary has been effectively over for weeks.

Sanders was too unmoving to be a real threat. DNC being shitters during COVID is Unrelated , I agree.

I think it makes perfect logical sense. If Trump wins re-election, who's hurt by that? The DNC? Hell no. They get to fan the outrage crowd and continue to garner huge sums of money. The media gets to keep posting his unending ridiculous lies day in and day out and keep people upset, which feeds into it.

In almost every other circumstance I would agree it was over. In this case, however, reality has endorsed Bernie Sanders, as someone else put it. He's a crotchety old man, but the voters showed in the primary they agreed with his platform more than Joe's, they were simply convinced Bernie wouldn't beat Trump and that was more important in their choice. I just wish the moderates had chosen basically anyone else. Any other dem, with the sole exception of Bloomberg, was a better choice than Biden. Biden is clearly suffering from the beginnings of dementia. Trump is going to destroy him.

I have said in here several times and it bears repeating, the Dems never did a proper post mortem of 2016. They just wanted to yell racism/sexism at the top of their lungs and refused to look into why Hillary lost. And then they went and nominated an arguably worse candidate.

I don't think its an exaggeration to say Biden's VP pick is his only shot at winning this thing. I still think his best pick would have been Castro, but since he's shoehorned himself into picking a woman, Warren is his best shot. You have to reach out to disaffected Bernie supporters. I don't know that that does enough, but ignoring them entirely loses you the general hands down.

The DNC's main objective was to defeat Sanders, not Trump. Both parties want to enrich their donors and themselves and that's it. The DNC isn't incompetent at all. They're doing exactly what they're supposed to do. Their function in this country is to beat down the left and when they win they do the same shit as the Republicans. Both parties steal as much wealth as possible from everyone at the bottom and the middle and transfer it to the top. We're just supposed to pat ourselves on the back because one rapacious party doesn't care who you marry or where you go to the bathroom. Continuing to support the Dems only perpetuates a continuing downward spiral. Declaring you'll vote Democrat no matter what is so dumb because you immediately give up all of your leverage and ensure that you will never have a voice.

I'm not sure what concessions Sanders thinks he'll get out of these monsters. I'm not sure what on earth makes him think that anything they promise can be trusted. To me it's just more political grandstanding. I'm sick of it tbh. Sanders should be leading, callimg for walk outs and rent/mortgage/credit strikes. He gave the nomination away already. Time to start looking in another direction if he truly intends on being a leader of a political revolution but he just refuses to use any of his power.

Bernie fucking sucks man lol. Young, mostly unemployed millennials who believe in socialism could only carry him so far. Bernie prob gonna buy another house with that donation money and laugh... he don't give a fuck.

Ya, you aren't wrong that Dems didn't want him. But people didn't really want him either. He lost support in the last 4 years... He got screwed with Hillary for sure... but he's gone against two of the weakest Democrats in my lifetime and couldn't beat them... Biden is probably going to die in office if he is elected (doubt he's elected, but if so). He can't form a coherent thought to save his life, and Bernie couldn't grow his base. That's almost unfathomable to me.

I know I have said this before, but he is a terrible candidate for President. He talks a good talk mostly... He has solid ideas mostly... But he isn't a builder. He isn't someone who I trust to create and push these ideas into reality. I know Tulsi is a small fish relative to the rest of the Dem field, but if he will treat her the way he did.... How will he treat anyone else that doesn't offer to blow him like AOC or Rashida or a few others?

Yes I realize the DNC behind the scenes mobilized the moderates in the party behind Biden, but did Bernie even TRY? Probably not, or not that hard if so. He didn't even make headway with Warren. Like, what was he fucking doing this whole time? lol. When other candidates drop out, you've seen Biden (let's be real, Biden's shadow team... biden himself has no clue where he is or what year it is) push slightly different policies or programs to attract as many of the other candidates voters as possible -- and he did the same thing with Bernie's voters. I am not saying it has worked that well, but that is the game and Biden's team played.

Bernie's strategy was to play the game (running for President is a game) but he refused to make moves once he was in. He couldn't or wouldn't adapt his strategy or shift focus even a fraction to try and attract more and more different people.

TL;DR - The DNC didn't want Bernie as president, correct. But Bernie's campaign is a failure that he himself has to own. This falls on him almost entirely.

I mean, it's hard to argue with most of what you're saying. Bernie showed no strength. He bent the knee to Hillary. He never defended himself against smears. He refused to go all the way and tell the truth and run an aggressive campaign. Whether you like him or not, Trump laid out the blue print for running as an outsider. Instead, Bernie decided to bring a spork to a gun fight, thinking for some reason that he could play nice with the sociopath's who run the party.

Lmao what debate. Biden has to use a teleprompter just having a conversation with Bernie. The man is senile.

I'm honestly not sure there will even be debates. Trump won't do anything not hosted by Fox News.

He should. Biden has negative chance of beating Trump in any debate. Trump should just do as many as possible, because Biden will look like an imbecile. I do feel bad saying that, because he probably has early stages of dementia or something but... this is the game he signed up for, so. Have fun.

If Trump doesnt do debates he is utterly and completely moronic. It won't matter where the debate is, Trump will kill him.

Ultimately Trump's ego would never allow himself to pass on being center stage in that way. He still talks about TV ratings as president lol.

Remember when i was bitching about nobody standing against Pelosi being elected speaker? This is how we got the garbage  4 trillion dollar give away to the 1%. She's more worried about making sure the health care industry can capitalize on this pandemic than she is people's lives. Not just the quality but with peoples lives. Why vote blue when all AOC can do is chastise but vote for anyway? People are so worried about the optics of taking a stand. Optics change. The Iraq War was popular at first. Almost everyone voted for it but years later it gave everyone that opposed it almost instant credibility. Make a stand, fight for the truth.

The time for electoral politics is over. We need action. We need more stuff like in Michigan and Cali where people are using their cars since they can't gather in numbers. We need that  and mass strikes. Our leaders are cowards.

Uh what? I'm not a Pelosi fan, but I don't understand why you have an issue with extending COBRA right now. We can't have people uninsured in the middle of a pandemic, they'll spread it even more.

Because it's not medicare for all. It's giving more money to insurance companies who are going to raise their premiums when this is over. It's executives profiteering off of the pandemic by stealing tax money.

If Pelosi puts forward medicare for all, right now, it gets voted down. What would that accomplish?

You sure about that? I know they have to go through McConnell to do that but medicare for is more popular than ever. If they really fought for it, i think they could get it.
