Thoughts for this week:

Bears gon' win.

Steelers/Pats may actually be the game of the week, and it's on SNF (and more importantly I'll be able to see it).

Lions are gonna lose.  I don't know why.  I don't know how.  But I feel it.

Ravens/Dolphins will be closer than the over/under implies. 

Browns torch the Titans by at least 2 TDs. 

Jags pull off the biggest upset of the new season season by a hair. 

Patriots remind me why I hate loving a team in their division.  Wish I knew how to quit those Fins.

From a roster talent standpoint, I agree.  But imagine the over-the-top shock if a team that went sub-.500 last year and had no offense in the pre-season beat the most hyped offense in football.  And if Mahomes actually has an average day...gasp.  Panic mode engaged.  It's more about the post-game media perception than the parity.

Cook and Mattison? Niiiiice. Now, don't get me wrong, Atlanta is a soft finesse defense and therefore not a good litmus test for Minnesota's running game, but it was nice to see some great runs on the highlight reel (harvest--can only listen to games on the radio).

After a bad first three quarters, Kyler Murray sure looked like the real deal.

Man, the Dolphins are going to be bad this season, aren't they? I think 0-16 is plausible at this point.

Chiefs and Patriots picking up where they left off.

Feel so bad for Nick Foles.

Don't know what the Eagles were doing in the first half but they woke up and looked great in the second half.

I think Dan Quinn is maybe on the hot seat. The Falcons have been an average team since losing SB51.

Carson Wentz looked like 2017 Carson Wentz. I think most of the offensive struggles in the first half were on Pederson but he got his shit together. Wentz was pretty sharp the whole game.

Texans released CB Aaron Colvin.

This the latest big move from a team without a general manager. The Texans signed Colvin to a four-year, $34 million contract with $18 million guaranteed just last offseason and still owe Colvin $7.5 million guaranteed with $10.5 million in dead money. Ouch. This won't help the Texans secondary issues, and there aren't free agents to bandaid the situation. Colvin had a down 2018 season and just allowed eight receptions, 117 yards, and one touchdown on Monday Night Football, but he should re-surface shortly. Perhaps a new coaching staff can get him back to his 2016 and 2017 form.

Waived by the Vikings following an August of missed kicks, Vedvik proceeded to cost the Jets dearly in their season-opening, 17-16 loss to the Bills, shanking both a field goal and extra point. A combo punter/kicker, Vedvik has a unique skill-set, but it is not yet up to NFL standards. Sam Ficken will serve as the Jets' kicker going forward.

Thomas didn't even make the Patriots' official 53-man roster — they wanted to avoid guaranteeing his contract — and they were still able to flip him for a sixth-rounder eight days after re-signing him. The Patriots will stay winning. Bill Belichick is moving on because there was no longer space on the roster following Antonio Brown's shock acquisition. In New York, Thomas will be reuniting with coach Adam Gase, who was in Denver for the best years of Thomas' career in 2013-14. That was a long time and one Achilles injury ago. The Jets had been carrying only five wideouts. Thomas won't have fantasy value in his new home, but his arrival is bad news for Quincy Enunwa.

NFL.com's Mike Garafolo reports Eagles DT Malik Jackson is expected to miss the rest of the season with a Lisfranc injury.

Garafolo reports Jackson will undergo surgery next week. Jackson had to be carted off the field after going down 32 snaps into Sunday's opener. Jackson was released by the Jaguars on the eve of free agency, and the Eagles pounced. It's a huge loss for the Eagles' imposing line, though Timmy Jernigan and Hassan Ridgeway will help pick up the slack. Going on 30, Jackson will be missing his first games since 2010. Although Jackson's contract was announced as "three years," it was functionally one year. It's not a guarantee he's back in Philadelphia next season.
