Vin+ 3,121 Posted March 13, 2014 Damn space, you scary. http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn25207-largest-ever-yellow-star-is-1300-times-bigger-than-sun.html#.UyEC-M4Wrag A monster version of our sun has been found, the largest known member of the family of yellow stars to which our sun belongs. The whopper sun emits light in similar wavelengths as our sun but its diameter is over 1300 times larger. That means it would engulf all the planets between Mercury and Jupiter if placed at the centre of our solar system. The star's size also means it is touching its smaller, companion star (see diagram, below). (Source: ESO) Dubbed HR 5171 A, the star is located in the constellation Centaurus around 12,000 light years from Earth. It was already known to be a hypergiant, the largest class of stars, but its exact size hadn't been well studied. Now a team led by Oliver Chesneau of the Côte d'Azur Observatory in Nice, France, has taken a closer look with the Very Large Telescope in Atacama, Chile. They report that it is twice as large as expected. It still isn't the largest star we know about – that crown goes to UY Scuti, which is around 1700 times larger than our sun. But UY Scuti is in a different stage of stellar evolution and so belongs to a different family of stars called red stars. Peanut sunBoth red and yellow stars can be hypergiants, but yellow hypergiants were previously thought to be at most 700 times the size of the sun. The new measurement of HR 5171 A shows they can be much bigger. HR 5171 A is 50 per cent larger than the red hypergiant Betelgeuse, which is located in the constellation Orion and is the ninth brightest star in the night sky. Another surprise for Chesneau's team was the discovery that HR 5171 A has a little brother. Previous observations suggested the star varied in brightness. Now the team has shown that this is due to a companion star that is around one third its size. The two stars orbit each other, forming a binary system. However, though their centres are separated by more than the distance between our sun and Saturn, HR 5171 A is so large that the two are touching, forming a continuous peanut-shaped structure. Guess this star system ain't big enough for two.
oochymp 2,393 Posted March 14, 2014 a quick google search revealed that in the process of cremation the temperature is raised to 1400 to 1800 degrees fahrenheit, since most ovens only go up to about 500 degrees that would definitely be a problem

Thanatos 2,847 Posted March 23, 2014 (edited) Over the course of history, there have been many troll statements made on NFL.com. I don't need to name them, you all know what I am talking about. But Rick Adams has created the single greatest troll post. It is not only coherent, it actually gives a cohesive argument, so there was obviously time put into it. Behold, the following explanation of why the Green Bay Packers best option at QB is... Mark Sanchez. Rick Adams Here is the deal.... Mark Sanchez would be GB's best option at starting QB. They would be very wise to sign him. Flynn is older and we dont know how many more years he has left to play. Rodgers is not only 30, (which is very old for a QB) but he no longer has the ability to play the position the proper way like you all used to think he could. Why? Because he broke his collarbone and the impact of his injury was so great, you could see when he came back he was physically limited even if the bone was healed, he was just flat out bad. This, Packers fans, is the new A-Rod. He might get hurt more now, and his inability to play at a high level will cost you games. He is a different kind of QB now. Even when he was good he wasent really a top QB to begin with. Heck, I had Matt Ryan listed as better than him not only as an athlete but as a decision maker and a QB all around. He did more for his team than little aaron rogers has done for his. Rogers has never had any great seasons ever so why are we making a former average guy look like a tom brady? makes no sense. im a seahawks fan, there's no bias and i understand this. im just listing all this out to make you idiots see the facts that havent been seen much. consider all this stuff and youll say to yourself, "did i really like aaron rodgers??" yeah you will. Point is here, Mark Sanchez is the future in GB, and A-Rod will be released. Edited March 23, 2014 by Thanatos19

BC 331 Posted March 24, 2014 LOL The regular "bad bracket" is boring. There's not much fun in mocking someone else's picks. We're all throwing darts at the same dartboard, after all. But the bracket you see above, which was sent to us by a tipster who is presumably in the same tourney pool, is something else. It's animpressive hot mess. The total wipeout of 1-seeds in the second round isn't even the craziest part of it. Look at the East region. At one point, Villanova plays itself in the most grueling Elite Eight game ever. Cincinnati's plugged in after, though Villanova still wins. Now look at the West. BYU beats Oregon, but Oregon advances to beat Wisconsin. It's a good strategy to cover all his bases. Finally, the championship game is fantastic, in that it's impossible. Louisville and Baylor would have to play each other in the Final Four. But maybe every team in the East and South will come down with a nasty cold, thereby forcing the Bears and Cardinals to play again, or something. You never know. If this is the first bracket by this guy, it's understandable. The North Dakota State upset is a good start. And technically, Baylor hasn't been eliminated yet! His champion's still alive! http://deadspin.com/we-have-found-the-worst-march-madness-bracket-ever-1548780292
