BLUE 1,026 Posted June 1, 2011 Per Rotoworld.com: Pro Football Weekly is "hearing" that the Jaguars may target free agent FS Eric Weddle after the lockout.Jags GM Gene Smith has made it known that he'll sign at least two defensive starters in free agency, and there's no greater need on the roster than free safety. Linebacker is another weak spot. Weddle, 26, is going to cost a lot of money. At the very least, teams in pursuit may have to be willing to match Colts FS Antoine Bethea's four-year, $27 million pact signed last June. RazorStar 4,025 Posted June 1, 2011 A good choice definitely. Not only do you need the line to beat the Colts, but the secondary as well.

BLUE 1,026 Posted June 14, 2011 Per Rotoworld.com: Jaguars GM Gene Smith confirmed that he plans to sign a starting free safety when the lockout is lifted."We're going to try to bring a veteran in here, somebody who can come in here and start," said Smith. Pro Football Weekly reported early this month that free agent Eric Weddle could be among Jacksonville's top targets. Other free safeties with expiring contracts include Michael Huff, Dashon Goldson, and Danieal Manning. Abe Elam and Gerald Sensabaugh may be cheaper options.
