The full list of Pats and Giants Pro Bowl replacements

Several of you have asked for the full list of Pro Bowl replacements arising from the absence of any and all Giants and Patriots players, since they’ll be getting ready for a slightly more meaningful game.

Our friends at NBC have complied.

Two Giants won’t be making the trip: quarterback Eli Manning and defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul. They’ll be replaced by Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and Bears defensive end Julius Peppers, respectively.

Eight Patriots get a Pro Bowl pass. They are: quarterback Tom Brady, receiver Wes Welker, tight end Rob Gronkowski, guard Brian Waters, guard Logan Mankins, defensive end Andre Carter, defensive lineman Vince Wilfork, and special-teamer Matthew Slater.

They’ll be replaced by Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton, Chargers receiver Vincent Jackson, Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham, Jets guard Brandon Moore, Ravens guard Ben Grubbs, Texans defensive end Antonio Smith, Bengals defensive tackle Geno Atkins, and Jaguars special-teamer Montell Owens.

We can just ask why Eli got the nod over Stafford, too.

Same with Romo.

Does someone want to explain to me why Cam Newton gets the nod over Matthew Stafford? 5,038 yards, 41 TD/16 INT not good enough? lolprobowl

Seriously. I thought subs were only determined by the pros.

fan vote, and Kila a lot of sports do have that set up (fans help pick the starters, pros do all the work for the backups) but the NFL uses the same system for everyone that goes to the pro bowl

Cam got an unfair boost over Stafford because the media loved his performance, he's a shoo-in for rookie of the year, and he was a rookie, (obviously because of #2).

In other words, they cut him some slack because he's a rookie and Stafford is not, which is bullshit- the pro bowl should be about the best players at each position, regardless of how long they've been in the league.

Of course, Romo should have been in here ahead of both of them.
