Vin+ 3,121 Posted January 29, 2012 ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Colts plan to hire Steelers linebackers coach Keith Butler as their defensive coordinator. Butler is in his ninth year on the Steelers’ coaching staff after joining the team prior to the 2003 season and has been instrumental in the development of James Farrior, James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley, among others. The Steelers have consistently led the NFL in total defense, rushing defense, and sacks, under his tenure. Schefter notes that Chuck Pagano, Bruce Arians and Butler were all on Butch Davis' staff in Cleveland in 2001. Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter
Milla4Prez63 678 Posted January 29, 2012 Haven't the Steelers kept blocking Butler from getting a DC promotion?
jackhammerslam 17 Posted January 29, 2012 His contract was up. Can't anymore, he got tired of waiting for LeBeau.

BLUE 1,026 Posted January 31, 2012 Per Rotoworld.com: Updating a previous item, Steelers LBs coach Keith Butler has decided against accepting the Colts' defensive coordinator job.Teams have been trying to lure Butler out of Pittsburgh for years, but he's Dick LeBeau's heir apparent and the Steelers want to keep it that way. They've done so by signing Butler to a new contract, according to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora. Butler was scheduled to "interview" with Colts brass on Tuesday, although it was just a formality. Indianapolis was intent on hiring him. Chuck Pagano will now have to look elsewhere. Jan 30 - 7:51 PM Source: Gerry Dulac on Twitter
BigBen07 285 Posted January 31, 2012 Odds of the Colts having a league worst defense in 2012? I'd say pretty good at this point.
