BucD+ 648 Posted August 8, 2012 Per PFT: Posted by Michael David Smith on August 8, 2012, 2:53 PM EDT So much for Trent Richardson’s knee being nothing to worry about. Whatever the Browns’ medical staff saw on Richardson’s MRI, they’re worried enough that they’re sending him to see the renowned sports surgeon Dr. James Andrews, who performed arthroscopic surgery on the same knee in February. “Trent Richardson is traveling to Pensacola, Fla., where he will have his left knee further evaluated by Dr. James Andrews tomorrow,” Browns coach Pat Shurmur said. Richardson hasn’t been practicing this week because of soreness in the knee and isn’t expected to play in the Browns’ preseason opener against the Lions on Friday. The Browns traded up to draft Richardson, viewing him as a big-time offensive playmaker for years to come. A visit to Dr. Andrews before ever playing in a game was not what Cleveland was hoping for. Hopefully it's nothing serious. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Richardson can do at this level.
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted August 8, 2012 Hopefully it's nothing... But if they thought it was nothing, would they have sent him to Dr. Andrews? Or maybe they are just being extremely safe?
Barracuda 629 Posted August 8, 2012 If it is serious...at least Hardesty doesn't have knee problems...oh wait. Ogbannaya get ready...
CribbsForTheWin 117 Posted August 8, 2012 I think that they are being overly cautious with their prized draft pick
Smell My Face 13 Posted August 8, 2012 Trent Richardson - RB - Browns Aug 8 - 5:10 PM ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Trent Richardson is "tentatively" expected to undergo another knee scope during his Thursday visit with Dr. James Andrews. CribbsForTheWin 117 Posted August 9, 2012 Supposedly could come back and play one or two preseason games. I hope he only plays one honestly, I would rather not rush him back and have this thing be a problem down the line. Like a meniscus tear, he will be able to start rehabbing right away (I would assume), so he should be in shape, and it will just be a matter of getting him a little experience prior to the season. BLUE 1,026 Posted August 9, 2012 Per Rotoworld.com: Browns coach Pat Shurmur confirmed Trent Richardson's left knee scope and is "hopeful" the rookie will be ready for the season opener."Trent Richardson underwent a successful routine arthroscopic procedure today on his left knee," said Shumur. "We anticipate that Trent will make a speedy recovery, and we are hopeful that he will be ready for our Week One game against Philadelphia." Expecting a lighter workload in September, Rotoworld has dropped Richardson from eighth to 14th among fantasy. Glanvilles Grits 142 Posted August 9, 2012 Entering the draft it was "Man this guy has had knee problems, hope he's alright" and everyone just kind of waved it off once they saw him do drills here and there. Now he's having surgery just weeks before the season begins and is questionable for week 1? Honestly, this guy might turn out to be a great running back in the NFL, but how long will his knees last in the league? Long enough for the Browns to even dig themselves out of the pit that they are already in?
Brownage 7 Posted August 15, 2012 When a pro-sports team sends a player to go see Dr. Andrews he might as well have a post-it note taped to his forehead saying "See you in a few weeks/months!"
BLUE 1,026 Posted August 20, 2012 Per Rotoworld.com: Browns coach Pat Shurmur stated Sunday that Trent Richardson has made "good progress" in his recovery from an August 9 left knee scope and "might be ahead of schedule."The Browns anticipate Richardson "back out there soon." While it's nice to hear Richardson's recovery has gone smoothly the past ten days, he remains unlikely to play in any preseason games, which will almost certainly limit his early-season workload. Richardson's left knee problems are also recurring, seeing as he had the same knee scoped on February 3. Richardson's early third-round Average Draft Position still seems pretty optimistic. We'd prefer to wait until the late fourth round or even the fifth before considering him. Aug 19 - 4:34 PM Source: Nate Ulrich on Twitter
Bucman 891 Posted August 21, 2012 This is why you don't blow your load on RBs, yeah he could be a great back, but the rest of the draft was stacked with good RBs.
Zack_of_Steel+ 3,014 Posted August 21, 2012 They could have gotten Kalil and DeCastro instead of Richardson and Weeden, lmao.
Bucman 891 Posted August 28, 2012 They could have gotten Kalil and DeCastro instead of Richardson and Weeden, lmao. Browns really needed to give Mccoy another year. Give him some weapons/improved OL, a Kalil/Decastro or Blackmon/Decastro. That Kalil Thomas tackle duo would be the best in the league.
BC 331 Posted August 28, 2012 The Browns have/had holes everywhere. It goes BPA imo
Bucman 891 Posted August 28, 2012 If you have holes everywhere you probably should trade a bunch of picks to move up 1 spot.
RazorStar 4,025 Posted August 28, 2012 If you have holes everywhere you probably should trade a bunch of picks to move up 1 spot. For a player that would have undoubtedly been there at number 4. Minnesota's GM totally played the Browns.
Barracuda 629 Posted September 4, 2012 Apparently Richardson practiced today with the first team, full pads. Supposedly ready to go Week 1.
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted September 5, 2012 For a player that would have undoubtedly been there at number 4. Minnesota's GM totally played the Browns. Pretty much what happened. I hate to admit it, but the Vikings played it perfectly. Pitted the Browns against themselves and boom.
CribbsForTheWin 117 Posted September 5, 2012 Pretty much what happened. I hate to admit it, but the Vikings played it perfectly. Pitted the Browns against themselves and boom. Eh, we had multiple picks in 2 of the 3 extra picks we gave up. What was it, 4th 6th and 7th? from the extra picks awarded to teams who lost free agents, the name of them escapes me. We really only just secured getting Richardson. The Vikings themselves said other teams were interested. I'm not gonna get to strung up on a trade like that. Not to mention with one of those picks, they took a kicker.
