Oh, I forgot about predicting the Cup Finals so we can look back in a month and find out who was right...

Give me Anaheim over Montreal in 7.

St. Louis over Pittsburgh in 6 just because. :shifty:

I have a tough time seeing the Habs making it past the 2nd round, though. Don't think they're well built for a deep postseason run.

Pens, Rangers, and Bruins are the only teams that I can legitimately see repping the EC in the SCF. I'd say the Caps too, but they always blow their load in the 1st or 2nd round.

I like the St. Louis picks. :yep:

I see what you mean about Montreal but I just have a feeling about them, if that makes sense. Regardless, playoffs start tomorrow. Looking forwards to Ducks/Wings the most out of the Tuesday games.

Most likely going to have the Kings-Blues game on more Tuesday Night unless somehow the Wild are in the game.

Red Wings and Ducks doe - game of the night.

East Conference QF's

#1 Pittsburgh Penguins vs. #8 New York Islanders

OK, why don't people read history? This is the 4th meeting between the two teams, with the Isles winning the previous three. Two of the playoff meetings are notable: the 1975 series saw the Isles come back from being down 3-0 to win in 7, being the 2nd team to do that in NHL history at the time. The 1993 meeting also saw the Islanders take another 7 game series from a Pens team that had not only posted a 56-21-7 (including a 17 game win streak) record but had also won the previous two Cups and were going for a third.

I think NY will make it a tougher series than most people think, even with everyone coming back from injuries on the Pens. And if everyone still thinks Pittsburgh will win easily, they only need to look at the Kings last season to prove otherwise. IMO, NY is dangerous and shouldn't be taken lightly, although a lack of experience for them could be the difference.

My pick: Penguins in 6

#2 Montreal Canadiens vs. #7 Ottawa Senators.

First playoff meeting between these teams and the first playoff series between teams from Montreal and Ottawa since 1928, when the Montreal Maroons defeated the original Ottawa Senators.

This is one that could go the distance. Ottawa overcame an injury plagued season to get in by playing a close-to-the-vest style, while Montreal sleepwalked to a division title. Price in particular struggled, as did the Habs defense late in the season. They'll need to step it up and have Price shine again, otherwise it'll be a short playoff series. As for the Senators, they just need to keep doing what they did all season. If they can keep the scoring low enough, the upset possibility is there.

My pick: Senators in 7

#3 Washington Capitals vs. #6 New York Rangers

Oh, boy, here we go again! This is the fourth playoff meeting in the last five years between these two, and the 8th overall, not to mention a rematch of last year's 2nd round series that the Rangers won in 7.

The Caps have gotten little respect, despite a recent surge that allowed them to win the Southeast. The team boasts the league's best PP unit, as well as a solid offense in general. Meanwhile the Rangers had an up-and down year, but got hot at the right time as well to get in. The defense struggled early due to injuries but has picked it up recently, and Henrik Lundqvist had another Vezina-type year. This has the potential to go the full 7 as well, with the deciding game probably going to OT.

My pick: Capitals in 7

#4 Boston Bruins vs. #5 Toronto Maple Leafs

14th all time meeting between these two, but the first since 1974. The Leafs have won 8 of the previous 13.

The Bruins took 4 of 5 regular season meetings but almost all the games were decided by one goal. Boston has also struggled lately and it cost them a shot at the divsion. However, they still have an excellent offensive corps, good defense, and good goaltending. Power play scoring remains an issue, but they did win the Cup with a poor PP unit back in 2011.

The Leafs are making their first trip to the playoffs since 2004. Put simply, they surprised the hell out of everyone with solid defense play, timely scoring, and consistent goaltending. Also Toronto's PK unit was stellar this year, including a stretch where they killed 42 of 44 penalties, which will cause serious issues for the B's PP. Interestingly, most of the Leafs success came when the team was badly outshot, with James Reimer especially prospering. Toronto will need to cut down on the shots allowed though, if they want to win this series.

This one will probably go at least 6 as well. The Bruins late season struggles could give the Leafs a chance to win the series, and both teams do play similar styles. I think that the Leafs lack of playoff experience will be too much for them to overcome though. Expect another tight, entertaining series.

My pick: Bruins in 6

West Conference QF's

I'll just wing it. (No pun intended)

Hawks over Wild in 6

Ducks over Wings in 7

Sharks over Canucks in 6

Kings over Blues in 6

What a night to start off the playoffs.

Remember Quick did but of course he got back in time on a Parise wrap around IIRC.

Quick kept the Kings in the game. St Louis just flat out manned the kings. But all of Ken Hitchock teams play great defense. At the beginning of the 3 rd Elliot only faced 12 shots lolz. ALMOST TIME FOR LEAFS!!!!

What, and have the score end up 8-1? :troll:

I kid. The Leafs simply have no playoff experience. They'll adjust as the series moves on.
