Mafia: CLUE Edition

Recommended Posts

My only goal is to not suck as much as Vin.

Welcome to mafia. For those of you who don't know how mafia works, there are two phases to the game. The day phase where we start consists of all the currently alive users attempting to figure out who the scum is, (murderer, werewolf, mafia, what have you). Once town decides whether to go through with a lynch or not at the end of the day, the result happens, the dead player's role is revealed, and night phase begins. Discussion and day phase should stay within the thread.

Night phase is where role players begin their actions. Cops investigate, doctors protect, and mafia arranges who they'll attempt to kill. You cannot talk with other players about the game during this phase unless you're mafia, in which case it's encouraged. Once all night actions are completed, I'll reveal who dies at the end of the phase, if anyone dies. Night Actions should be sent to me by PM.

The game will have more of a story to it than others have, so that just means more work for me. It will also have a CLUE-esquee feel or theme to it.

Vin is the only one who gets that honor. He enjoys fruit cake and pink tutus.

Awesome. I am heading to work now, won't be gone very long. And when I return I shall post a fairly lengthy narrative, and then send out roles... And then day phase will begin. Good luck and I hope you are as excited as I am! :D

Okay... Hmmm, Conshy is going to be out of the country and thus incapable of playing this round, it looks like.

It would really be ideal to have 12. So I will leave this open for a bit longer as I work on my narrative.

My role in the game is that of narrator. Thus, the following is a narrative. Nothing more. Descriptions of the house guests are purely for fun. Furthermore the names/titles for each house guest has no correlation to the role they may or may not have.

----------------------------------------------

The letters came in brightly colored crimson envelopes gilded in gold... It was a mysterious little parcel -- yet one that required little thought as whether to open or not. It had been far too long since any one of them undertook any kind of adventure or light-hearted fun. Whether it be the stresses of a family life, failing businesses, or just the doldrums of everyday life -- all of the invitees had their own reason for wanting to escape from the confines of reality.

Falling out of the envelope and onto the table was an invitation.

Dear Sir or Madam,

Life is much too dear to allow it to get the best of us.

It is of my observance that you seem due for a much needed adventure.

A once-in-a-lifetime experience awaits you.

I expect your arrival sometime on the day of May the 10th at 1200 Justice Lane in Somewhereville

Your Gracious Host,

Sir Auro IV

Sir Auro was busy stirring around in his luxurious study on the 2nd floor of his estate. However, it wasn't the historical artifacts he had on display nor the extremely rare books collected from around the world and now found on the mantle above the fireplace that demanded his attention. Not this time.

This time, it was a single sheet of parchment with twelve names scrolled on it that fascinated Auro. Only twelve names, but at the same time, they meant so much more than that. And this was no ordinary list of names, either. This list comprised of names that were soon-to-be guests of his. Guests whose arrival he anticipated very much.

The list reads as follows:

Miss Scarlet (Razor) - A woman with many friends, none of whom the presence of which she enjoys. Scarlet is a deep, mysterious, and enigmatic figure but always puts on a good show for everyone. If only they knew her secrets... If only they knew who she really was. But alas, such is the life of a high class escort catering to the wealthy.

Colonel Mustard (Ranga) - Never to be found without his trust revolver, Col. Mustard is a retired military man and decorated war hero who yearns for the adrenaline rush of his youth. Feeling as he is slowly fading away, he would give anything to once more feel alive.

Mister Green (Vin) - A businessman at heart, Mister Green knows nothing of the world outside of money. His ever-growing love for cash forced him to ignore his one TRUE love, his lovely wife. She has since left them, taking their three children with as far away as they could possibly get. Now, left with nothing but his own spoils, Mister Green is at a crossroads in his life and is looking for direction.

Mrs. Peacock (Cuda) - A woman passed her prime, Mrs. Peacock often finds herself in the company of cats as she strolls through her lofty penthouse spraying rose water that gives off that undeniable "old woman" scent. Her husband has recently passed away and she now spends her days toiling and asking what to do next.

Professor Plum (Thanatos) - Professor Plum is your stereotypical lab geek. He is a brilliant mind in society who is renowned for his breakthroughs and work in the field of quantum physics. He seemingly has everything... but remains socially awkward and left yearning for the more adventurous side of life that he passed up on. He now searches but for a small fraction of that he missed in order to finally solve the greatest conundrum of them all -- life itself.

Dr. Gray (Zack) - A world famous surgeon, Dr. Gray once had it all. A thriving business practice, a loving family, and the respect of his peers. However that all changed one day as an 8 year old heart transplant patient died on the table under his knife and watchful hand -- his first failure. It devastated him beyond belief, the guilt and questions that lingered haunted every waking moment. His hands shook violently and his practice fell apart shortly thereafter... Dr. Gray is now en route to regaining his life. He just needs a little push towards the light.

Mr. Slate (Sarge) - A self-made man on the NY stock exchange, Mr. Slate was known for taking risks. However he tried his hardest to be careful, coordinated, and precise. Unfortunately for Mr. Slate, everyone's luck runs out. One bad investment shook him and the risks became larger and larger. The losses grew exponentially and before long he had lost everything. He was at a local bar and twelve beers deep. He stood up and slowly staggered towards the restroom with a pistol loosely held in his waistband when a shadowy figure emerged and handed him the crimson envelope. It is unknown exactly what he was planning to do that evening...

Lord Steel (House) - Lord Steel had a thirst for adventure that could not be quenched. He had traveled across the world base jumping off the largest bridges and gliding from the tallest rock faces. He had suffered more broken bones than he could count, but no injury would keep him down. Nothing would nor could anything satisfy him. His invitation was delivered via carrier pigeon as he bungee'd off the Golden Gate Bridge.

Lady Ash (Arz) - Lady Ash was some form of royalty... However an heir to a throne that no one had ever heard of had more limitations than rewards. She was young, exuberant, and ready to take on the worlds challenges. However, her father would not allow this. She was ordered to remain prim, proper, and polite at all times as she never knew who would be watching and from where. Wanting to break free from his control, Lady Ash ran and ran... and ran never looking back. After many months had passed with little to eat, no permanent shelter, and few resources she figured she may have just had enough of this adventure... She ran towards the nearest phone booth (let's pretend these still exist. ha) and slammed the door behind her. And there she saw it... Sitting neatly atop the payphone was a crimson envelope.

Master Sergeant Pine (Bucman) - Pine lives for the military. He grew up in a military household, moving from base to base as his father served his country honestly and with integrity. He enrolled at the US Naval Academy and after graduating with merit, was commissioned to the US Marine Corps. While deployed overseas in an intense firefight he saved the lives of three other Marines but paid the price. He lost his left eye and with it went his outstanding career. And thus begun the questions... What next?

Congressman Crimson (Bay) - Elected into office at just 26 years old, the congressman grew up with a silver spoon in hand. His father is a wealthy businessman and a sitting governor. His father was never around as a child, but the butlers and maids seemed to do a fine job raising him on their own. The congressman was respectful, intelligent, and looking to make an impact.

Detective Celeste (Blue) - Celeste knew nothing but the look of her own office. To the left a window overlooking the city. To the right, a fold away couch that she often slept on and cursed in the mornings after waking with back pain. In front of her, a desk with mountains of clutter. Papers and manilla folders strewn about as if without cause. Except Celeste always had a cause. She makes sense out of chaos and makes the unthinkable imaginable. She dedicates her life to tracking down missing persons and has an unbelievable track record. There but remains one case unsolved, the files of which lay sealed in an envelope in a safe in the tiny office. This one case gives her a purpose in life, and one day she hopes to crack it wide open...

One list. Twelve names and twelve motives to accept an invitation to an unknown home of an unknown host in an unknown place. Nothing could go wrong... Could it?

The day had finally arrived. Four black sedans slid along the winding drive up towards the estate of Sir Auro IV. Approaching ever near, our house guests could now make out the large modern structure that Auro called home. It sat upon a cliff side, jutted out over the edge to the unassuming depths of the sea below. The cars pulled forward through a gate and onto a circular driveway that encompassed a large fountain just in front of the house.

The guests quickly shuffled into the foyer of the home as the sky blackened and small water drops began to fall. The mood immediately began to lift as Auro greeted all of his guests with warm greetings and open arms. Still, nobody knew the purpose of their visit, but they seemed content in the moment.

Auro had his butlers escort the guests to their rooms, but not before informing them about dinner.

6:00 PM sharp and the guests, dressed in their most formal of outfits, began to stroll down the elegant marble staircase towards the dining room. By 6:30 all of the guests had arrived around the large teak table and the hired help began serving course after course.

The guests took the time to get to know one another. Through out the meal and in between courses, the guests moved seats, ensuring they were nearest to those they felt most comfortable. A few strolled off to the bar in the next room, some went to the bathroom, other retrieved items or photos from their rooms, and yet others just walked the halls of the large home.

Mister Green was coming onto Miss Scarlet heavily, but with fleeting memories of home she quickly turned the conversation to something more pleasant. Mrs. Peacock was quite intrigued by the strapping Sergeant Pine, who came to dinner in full military dress. Mr. Slate and Detective Celeste were busy swapping cocktail recipes. Professor Plum and Dr. Gray were talking about something, but it is unknown what, as the terminology was above the understanding of the rest of the table. Steel spent his time with the Colonel covering proper base-jumping techniques while the Congressman was probing Lady Ash about a political visit of some sort after all of this was over.

For what seemed like one brief moment in time... All of the guests stresses were forgotten.

Finally, the last plates were removed from the table -- all of guests full beyond satisfaction. It was Miss Scarlet who noticed first... Sir Auro had not graced his guests with his presence during their meal.

And then they heard it -- a shrill scream that caused many of the guests' skin to crawl followed by a loud thump.

They all bustled out of the room and in line, began a full out sprint towards the scream. Up the marble staircase, through an elegant living room, passed a bathroom or two, and beyond the bedroom into Sir Auro's study.

Laying in a heap on the floor next to an intricate wooden desk was the maid. She merely fainted and would be just fine with a little rest.

The same cannot be said for sir Auro. His chair was turned around, facing the window and overlooking the gardens on the estate. Colonel Mustard and Sergeant Pike were the only men willing to advance in the room towards the chair. Halfway there, the Sergeant stopped. The Colonel glanced over at him as if to say, "It's okay." and continued on his slow trek towards the chair.

The Colonel approached the chair and quickly turned it about, to face all of the house guests. And there he sat... Suffocated with what seemed to be a fiber wire.

Their gracious host was dead.

Who did it? It's up to you to decide! Roles will be sent out shortly, after of which Day Phase 1 will begin.

Who would commit such a heinous act? To think that there would be a murderer here, I cannot fathom it.

Day Phase I has begun. It will end in a couple days. Maybe Sunday or so.

With 12 house guests, it takes 7 to Lynch. And there will be no plurality. It takes 7 or everyone lives.

Good Luck.

We're just gonna lynch people right in Sir Auro's house? Doesn't seem right.
