Vin+ 3,121 Posted February 22, 2014 Redskins coach Jay Gruden promises to fit his offense to his personnel, and that he's "not going to force-feed an offense down anybody's (throat)." In other words, just because Gruden didn't coach a dual-threat quarterback in Cincinnati doesn't mean he's not going to adapt to one in Washington. It's refreshing to hear a coach publicly promise not to adopt a square peg/round hole philosophy. Too many NFL coaches try to fit their players to their scheme instead of vice versa. Gruden is not the most imaginative offensive mind, but he's clearly approaching his new gig with an open mind. Source: Redskins on Twitter

Vin+ 3,121 Posted April 1, 2014 New coach Jay Gruden wants Robert Griffin III to be a diverse and balanced quarterback so the Redskins can tailor their offense to attack any defensive scheme. With Gruden at the helm, it is almost a lock Griffin will throw the football 500+ times, but his use in the rushing game is more uncertain. Gruden said Washington will continue to employ the read-option in some capacity, but the volume of carries may come down to how comfortable RGIII feels rushing the ball. Griffin will be roughly 20 months removed from his ACL tear when Week 1 rolls around. He's a prime candidate for a bounce-back season. Vin+ 3,121 Posted March 6, 2017 Redskins signed coach Jay Gruden to a two-year extension through 2020. Gruden was entering the fourth year of a five-year deal signed in 2014. The extension was a necessary move with OC Sean McVay gone to Los Angeles and GM Scot McCloughan's future role in doubt. Gruden has gained power in the organization. Gruden recently checked in at No. 16 in Rotoworld's head-coach rankings. The Redskins have gone 17-14-1 on Gruden's watch the past two seasons. Gruden's creative passing game has brought consistency to Washington's offense, but we'll be interested to see how it fares with both DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon looking likely to bolt in free agency.
