ATL_Predator+ 1,196 Posted February 25, 2014 Panthers LT Jordan Gross has decided to retire from the NFL after 11 seasons. Gross, 33, spent his entire career with the Panthers after being the eighth overall pick in the 2003 draft. He made it to the Super Bowl as a rookie and made three Pro Bowls. Gross missed just nine starts in his career. He's leaving the game on top, as Pro Football Focus graded Gross out as its No. 3 left tackle in 2013. It's a big blow for the Panthers. Gross was set to become a free agent in two weeks but had stated he'd only consider playing for Carolina. He clearly didn't feel he had enough left in the tank to make it through another grueling training camp and 16-game schedule. The Panthers are now in the market for two starting tackles. RT Byron Bell has been a major liability and is a restricted free agent.

Thanatos 2,847 Posted February 25, 2014 This seriously hurts. I was not expecting him to retire at all. Thanks for all the great games, Jordan, and I hope he gets what he wants out of this. As for Carolina, we may now be forced to go OT in round 1, and we desperately need a WR as well.

Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted February 25, 2014 WOAH. I don't pay a ton of attention to Gross specifically off the field... So this comes as a complete shocker to me. Wow.
RazorStar 4,025 Posted February 26, 2014 One of the unsung great players of this league. You'll never see his name mentioned with the top LT's of our generation, but he worked his ass off and was never a liability for the Panthers.
