1. Texans- QB Johnny Manziel Texas A&M

For as long as I’ve been on TGP, the one thing I harp more then anything else to death is drafting franchise QBs. That won’t change this year. Despite what the real scouts are saying, I, the armchair scout extraordinaire am not very high on him. The Texans won't pass up on him because he told them not to.

 

2. Rams(WSH)- OT Greg Robinson Auburn

Robinson has ridiculous power as a run blocker and a great anchor as a pass blocker but is a raw pass protector. He can develop by playing guard and then kicking out to tackle. His potential of being great is reason to be drafted this high.

3. Jaguars- QB Teddy Bridgewater Louisville

Continuing with the theme of franchise QBs, should Teddy be there, I see him being the pick. The best player in this year’s draft imo, and far and away the best passer.

4. Browns- QB Blake Bortles Central Florida
Sammy Watkins at this point would be more of a luxury then true help. Like I said at the beginning, I am a believer in drafting a QB early until you get one that is the answer. It’s no different for the Browns. I was big on Bortles since last year when I saw him in the bowl game.

5. Raiders- DE/OLB Jadeveon Clowney South Carolina

I’m actually higher on Mack, as I see him to be arguably the most complete player in the draft. But Clowney is widely viewed as the better pass rusher/DE prospect.

6. Falcons- DE/OLB Kahlil Mack Buffalo

The widely preferred Clowney goes right before the Falcons pick, so they end up taking Mack. Like I said I’m higher on Mack then I am Clowney. While Clowney has the potential to be a way better player then Mack, Mack comes from as great a coach you could find for LBs as possible. His flexibility makes him a perfect fit for Nolan’s multiple schemes.

7. Buccaneers- QB Derek Carr Fresno State
Lovie Smith learned his lesson from coaching the Bears. Mediocre game from your QB is what leads to the inability to win when it matters. Jeff Tedford is considered by many to be a “QB guru” and Carr has all the tools that coaches look for.

8. Vikings- WR Sammy Watkins Clemson

Personally, I’m more of a fan of Mike Evans, but the consensus is that Watkins is the better player. The Vikings add Watkins to an explosive offense to make it even more explosive. QB is still a need, but the higher tier guys are all gone. So the Vikings opt out for the bpa.

 

9. Bills- TE Eric Ebron North Carolina
This hurts me soul because I am very high on Eric Ebron. But the Bills decide to give EJ more weapons. He’s capable of causing mismatches all over the field.

10. Lions- WR Mike Evans Texas A&M

Jim Caldwell has made it clear that he plans to find a threat to go on the other side of Calvin Johnson. Mike Evans would be make the perfect guy to be on the opposite side of CJ, especially if the Lions plan on resigning Pettigrew, the Lions would have 4+ receivers over 6’4.

 

11. Titans- OT Jake Matthews Texas A&M

BPA at this point. Matthews slides because of all the talent available, and the Titans decide to jump on the opportunity to make their line even better. Matthews is my #2 tackle, and would be able to play from day one.

12. Giants- OT Taylor Lewan Michigan

I actually don’t know much about the Giants need outside of potentially receivers. But I do know Eli was sacked a lot, and Beatty is soft as hell. Taylor Lewan is the complete opposite. He’s got a nasty mean streak to him, and would be a great addition to an ailing offensive line.

13. Rams- DT Aaron Donald Pittsburgh

He might not make it this low with how he was at the combine, but lets assume he does. I’m pretty sure the Rams interviewed him at the combine, and he’d be a great fit in their defense. He’d be a part of a rotation, but eventually him and Brockers will make a deadly combo.

14. Bears- CB Justin Gilbert Oklahoma State

Perfect fit for the Bears, he fills a need, and is the ideal player in a conference where there are receivers everywhere who are big, and fast.

15. Steelers- CB Darqueze Dennard Michigan State

The Steelers go into the MSU pool again to see what the can come out with. The pass defense was a major letdown last year and the guys on that defense aren’t getting any younger. Dernnard had questions about his speed somewhat answered at the combine, but many will still question it (with good reason). Where he does excel however is with his physicality and ability to press.

16. Cowboys- DT Louis Nix III Notre Dame

The Cowboys were so thin at Dline last year and they seem to be getting thinner. Adding a talented DT in Timmy would be the first step in improving the depth and talent of the defensive line.

 

17. Ravens- OT Zack Martin Notre Dame

Martin’s stocks are rising fast, and he might be considered at some point a steal this late. Great technique, and very physical, the Ravens have said that they are looking to improve the running game. Adding someone like Martin would be a step in that direction.

18. Jets- WR Devante Adams Fresno State

The Jets still need help at receiver, and Devante Adams has the potential to be the best in a talented and deep class of receivers.

 

19. Dolphins- OG Xavier Silo-Filo UCLA

Best guard in the draft, the Dolphins’ offensive line has been dismal, and it’s gotten worse with all the offseason/late season drama. Silo-Filo would fill the gap that was lost by the bully.

20. Cardinals- DE/OLB Anthony Barr UCLA

Doesn’t really fill a need, but is the best player available, which makes this an easy decision. The Cardinals run multiple sets, and having an athlete like Barr is a major plus. He didn’t wow everyone with his athleticism like we all thought he would coming in, but its clear watching him that it’s there.

21. Packers- S Ha Ha Clinton-Dix Alabama

Getting the best safety in the draft this late would be a steal for the Packers. Clinton-Dix fills a need as well as is probably the best player available.

22. Eagles- MLB C.J. Mosely Alabama

CJ is an immediate difference maker. Can immediately start and make a difference. Not a huge position of need for this team, but still a position of need. Eagles sound like they are moving more towards the BPA stuff, and Mosley is that at this point in the draft.

23. Chiefs- Ra’Shede Hageman Minnesota

The receiving class is really deep… And the Chiefs know this. So the Chiefs get the talented Hageman to fill a void at DE. Many people steered clear of Dontrari Poe because of not showing the athleticism and ability in pads that he showed in shorts, and he’s paid off. So the Chiefs take another high potential player to develop.

24. Bengals- CB Jason Verett TCU

Only thing missing for Verett that allows him to fall this far is size. Playmaker that would thrive in an already talented Bengals defense.

25. Chargers- DE Kony Ealy Missouri

Pass rush is the biggest hole on this Chargers team imo. Corners aren’t the best, and NT is also a need, but the pass rush can cover a lot of the blemishes on the back end of the defense. Kony was the best defensive player on the Tiger’s roster last year. He’s a little big for the OLB position, but I’m convinced that he’s more than capable to rush the passer standing up. One of, easily, my favorite guys in this year’s draft, a real steal here.

 

26. Browns(IND)- WR Odell Beckum III LSU

Widely viewed as a top 20 prospect, slides down because of depth of receivers this year. Can play all over the field, plus special teams which makes him a great fit for the Browns.

 

27. Saints- S Calvin Pryor Louisville

Saints need a dynamic defensive playmaker, and they get that in Pryor. I don’t see much difference between Prior and Ha-Ha. He can play both safety positions and would probably start from day one.

28. Panthers- WR Kelvin Benjamin Florida State

Teams like the Panthers who go strictly by bpa are always kinda hard to project. I had them taking Brandin Cooks because he is the next best player in my opinion, but his height might scare away some teams.

29. Patriots- TE Austin Seferain-Jenkins Washington

The Patriots do need weapon offensively, and I have them taking a great receiving tight end who is at the very least a willing blocker. ASJ has some red flags, but that hasn’t stopped the Patriots in the past. I feel like they are more likely to take a receiver or a DE though.

 

30. 49ers- CB Kyle Fuller VT

A lot of people have the 49ers grabbing a DT or a receiver, I’m a believer that they go the route of corners. The receiving class is deep, and the corner class isn’t anywhere as deep. Fuller is a bigger corner with abilities as a press corner.

31. Broncos- OG David Yankey Stanford

Yankey fits the needs of everything the Broncos are looking for. He's physical, athletic, and smart. He'll fit nicely next to Clady and Ramirez, and should easily replace Beadles.

32. Seahawks TE Jace Amaro Texas Tech

The Seahawks are big fans of using two tight end sets, and while McCoy could return, it’s no guarantee. Adds another receiving option, as well as blocker.

I think this would be a great first two rounds for us, Jake Matthews falling to us would be awesome, but I don't see it happening, he'd start right away at RT after we cut David Stewart then we'd probably let Roos walk next year when his contract is up and Matthews would shift over, and with Tre Mason we wouldn't miss CJ at all

 

that said, if that's the way we go in the draft I hope it means we addressed our defensive front in free agency because we're gonna need a lot of help there with a new defensive look

Bortles and Beckham is fine by me. Bradley Roby is overrated though and it's not really a need. Would rather see a guard or MLB at that spot.

I admit I did struggle a bit with the Eagles. It was either a corner or a WR. The safety class has good mid round talent, but up top.. I'm not sure...

Robinson has the potential to be an all-universe guard (despite his height) but there's no way he'll be there at #8 imo. Zack Martin also could play guard, and I have him as a top 15 talent, but he isn't a top 10 talent.

 

But yea, the guard class isn't overly talented at the top.

Gonna sound a little back assward, but I prefer him to Ha-Ha who is my #3 safety. But this is based more on how I think they'll turn out. Not really how I think it should.

 

I see him falling possibly because there is question as to whether or not he'll be more then a box safety. He'll still go in the first round, but later imo.

As a FS, Ha Ha > Pryor.

 

Pryor is that Cyprien/Swearinger type enforcer who can dabble in some high coverage and match up well on backs and TEs though. Just depends what you're team is looking for honestly. I can see Pryor lasting as long as he did on Dmac's mock. I could also see Jimmie Ward possibly getting picked ahead of him if another team likes him better too. I like all three though, great players.
