BLUE 1,026 Posted March 10, 2014 Per Rotoworld.com: Dustin Fox of the Browns Radio Network reports free agent SS Donte Whitner is "likely headed" to Cleveland "when the signing period begins." The signing period begins Tuesday at 4PM ET. The Cleveland Plain Dealer previously reported the Browns were "very serious" about signing Whitner, who played his college ball at Ohio State and would replace free agent T.J. Ward. Bay 2,003 Posted March 10, 2014 Only miss his physicality. Thanks for that memory of knocking Pierre Thomas out cold, Donte.
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted March 11, 2014 Seems like a pretty obvious fit to me. Heard the Packers might make a run at him if Byrd and Ward didn't go their way, but it looks like Whitner has his mind made up. Too bad.
Wannabe scout 33 Posted March 12, 2014 I don't get the browns moves? They spent more money to get older and weaker at safety
HadenIsland23 42 Posted March 12, 2014 I don't get the browns moves? They spent more money to get older and weaker at safety How are we getting weaker at safety? Whitner fits the scheme better, coverage wise.
Dutch 874 Posted March 12, 2014 T.J Ward is considerably better at coverage than Whitner.
HadenIsland23 42 Posted March 12, 2014 T.J Ward is considerably better at coverage than Whitner. I disagree. Playing in the box, no question. Also, I don't think we really had a shot to keep Ward once he hit the market. He took 5.5M to play for a winner.
