Adrian College student’s high-tech shoe store design wins international prizeAn Adrian College interior design student is among this year’s International Design Award winners. Adrian College Joel Mbala-Nkanga is a senior at Adrian College. The project Joel Mbala-Nkanga submitted for the competition was a retail shoe store called HEEL. According to a news release from Adrian College, his idea was to create a sales setting that allowed customers to make transactions via their smartphones, or to have the option to interact with a salesperson. In his design, interactive touchscreens and rounded TVs let costumers view products, locations and costs. Yea, I get so tired of shaving the mustache, idk how some people pull it off but I'm getting rid of it. Did you come up with the name HEEL? Pretty clever, and a cool concept all around. Congrats man. I actually gotta give half the credit of the name to one of my colleagues, the name I came up with was Heels, she told me to change it to "HEEL", cause I guess it was more "classy". I minored in Graphic Design and worked with some of the people that did Interior at times when certain classes overlapped did you design 3D in CAD and stuff? Yea, I did the basic design on CAD, and rendered it on 3Ds Max, but seeing as we aren't taught how to use them. I did all the real work on photoshop. Haha.
