Deftones are super underrated.

Vin just keep listening to Hurt and hoping that they put out a new album. That's what I do. :p

For what it's worth I think Gemini Syndrome is a pretty decent band. Check them out if you haven't yet.

Hurt's lead singer just bought a building that they're going to fix up and live in and turn into a studio. We'll probably get something new in '16 if I had to guess. :yep:

Gemini Syndrome isn't bad. Might have to check them out.

Given Haken a try if you haven't already. The lyrics are a trip and the music is pretty great. The Mountain is their best album by far, but they have some gems in their earlier records. Also check out Fair to Midland. >_>

British prog metal. I am frightened.

Fair to Midland is good. I've only listened to a couple of their songs in the past though.

Job For a Cowboy have turned into a wonderful progressive death metal band. Check out their new album, The Sun Eater.

Anyone got any new rock/metal bands that have come out in the past few years that they'd recommend? I'd like to find a new band, as pretty much all I've been listening to lately is a ton of instrumentals/bands I usually listen to/whatever Pandora plays.

There are a lot of bands that come to mind, but I don't want to make a giant list just for the sake of making a giant list of newer bands not knowing what kind of metal or rock you generally like to listen to. But there's one that I will mention right now that I highly enjoy, and that's New Zealand's Razorwyre. They play an excellent mix of Heavy, Power, and Speed Metal.

Be sure to check out some of the signature tracks from their 2012 record Another Dimension:

The second one sucks, but Killer Mike does a song at 12:15.

EDIT:

This Despot guy is awesome. He was featured once on Run the Jewels 2 and is opening for them on their current tour.

Apparently a lot of people have been waiting for him to release an album forever. It's all you see on all of the comments and the radio DJ mentions it in the first video in this post.

EDIT 2:

Said fuck it and found all of his stuff that I could, aside from the songs he's only featured on. Made a little "unofficial album" out of the 11 songs.

320kb/s, tagged, de-clipped in MP3Gain, with album art that either corresponds to the release or one that I made from the video.

I've uploaded it in a RAR file here:

How's everybody feel about all of the genres encompassed by the "Americana" term? Folk, alt-country, etc, etc.

Artist examples:

Jason Isbell

Ryan Bingham

I used to listen to those guys back in high school. Saw them live at a music fest and they were the most boring live band I'd ever seen.

FYI - I found a (relatively) new app called Undrtone. It's like social media for music. You can post stuff you like and see what other people are posting (and what's trending). GREAT way to find new music. I've been signed up for 24 hours and have already found at least 10 new bands I'm really digging. If anyone joins follow me and I'll follow back - let's find some new music!!

Wouldn't think a band with progressive elements would be the most entertaining to see.

And they don't really have a frontman either.
