RazorStar 4,025 Posted February 18, 2015 (edited) Well it's the offseason, and that means it's time to rejuvenate the board with some ridiculous contests. Normally we go through and have a best players, or a top 100 topic or something, but I've decided to change it up. If someone else wants to start one of those up, that'd still be really cool. However I'm going to start this up, the most popular active players topic. I'm thinking I can do this as an X man single elimination tournament but I'll still accept any nominations even if we end up with a weird number because of it. So here are the nomination rules: 1. You may nominate up to 50 active players. If they retired this offseason or end up retiring you can still include them. There is no limit to how many players on a single team you can nominate. 2. The number of nominations will help with seeding, so if you like a guy and see he's already been nominated, go ahead and nominate him again. 3. That should be pretty straightforward, we don't need more rules. I'll let this go for a week or so, depending on when activity dies down. You can post reasoning for your nominations if you like, it's up to you. Here are mine for the moment. I may have more later which I'll edit in. 1. Russell Wilson (Seahawks) 2. Von Miller (Broncos) 3. Eddie Lacy (Packers) 4. Aaron Rodgers (Packers) 5. Demaryius Thomas (Broncos) 6. Frank Gore (49ers) 7. Chris Harris (Broncos) 8. Charles Woodson (Raiders) 9. Jordy Nelson (Packers) 10. Antonio Brown (Steelers) 11. J.J Watt (Texans) 12. Marshal Yanda (Ravens) 13. Geno Atkins (Bengals) 14. Brent Grimes (Dolphins) 15. Kam Chancellor (Seahawks) 16. Earl Thomas (Seahawks) 17. Larry Fitzgerald (Cardinals) 18. Calais Campbell (Cardinals) 19. Chris Long (Rams) 20. Thomas Davis (Panthers) 21. Eli Manning (Giants) 22. Odell Beckham Jr. (Giants) 23. Chris Borland (49ers) 24. 25. 26. 27. 28. 29. 30. Edited February 19, 2015 by RazorStar

butta54 371 Posted February 24, 2015 1) Larry Fitzgerald: Winner of the first ever Art Rooney Sportsmanship award. Well-liked by all of his NFL colleagues, and well-loved by some. A player who has been around the game since he was a child and respects the game of football unlike anyone else. 2) Calvin Johnson: There is not many compliments higher than respecting someone's game. With Megatron there is nothing but respect in the league for a man who is a physical freak and loves to go out and compete. 3) Drew Brees: A Walter Payton Man of the Year award winner and superbowl champion. Players love QBs, but they love guys who get out and help off the field even more. Great teammate who is the heart of the Saints and a natural giver in the community. 4) Peyton Manning: We hate him, but players respect the numbers PeyPey has put up in his career. 5) Adrian Peterson: Despite the issues he had this year, AP is one of the most loved players in the league due to his competitive spirit and freakish talent. 6) J.J. Watt: Easily can be #1 on this list in a few years. Most dominant player in the league not playing QB. Loves the game, loves the fans, loves being respectful when the helmet is off. 7) Jason Witten: Long time player for America's team. A self-less player that took his diminishing role like a good teammate and contributed to the blocking effort. 8) Antonio Gates: Another OG in the game who has been doing it for awhile and at a high level. 9) Cam Newton: Electric personality like no other player in the league. Leading his team more and more every year. Loves to talk and love to laugh, usually with all the other players gathered around him. 10) Earl Thomas: A straight laser focused football player leading one of the best defenses the league has seen. 11) Andre Johnson: Beloved by all receivers in the league and respected by all secondary in the league. Another veteran who brings everything he has and can still leave defenders in his dust. 12) Aaron Rodgers: Hard to be popular with so many players hating him in the NFC North. But probably the next great MVP QB of the league taking the title from Peyton Manning. The top passer in the game who loves to win and loves to laugh. 13) Andrew Luck: If A-Rod is the next in line to be the greatest QB in the league than Luck will promptly take his place as the rising star. Student of the game and fierce competitor. While defenses may not like the fact he likes getting hit, there is not one player that wouldn't want him on their team. 14) Joe Thomas: One of the most down to earth blue collar workers in the league. A player who loves to get out and play no matter what state his team is in. Will laugh with his opponent and enjoy the game. 15) Nick Mangold: Another player that plays heart for his team no matter what is happening around him. Takes pride in his work and is a down to earth guy. 16) Arian Foster: Well-spoken and well-read. A player that isn't about the flash, but about the creativity. Respected for using his platform to do good things. 17) Thomas Davis: This year's Walter Payton Man of the Year Award winner. Humble background and humble works. Fought early injuries and has been called the leader of the Panther's defense over there more well known players. 18) Rob Gronkowski: A monster of a player in this league and new superbowl champion. Very loud and colorful with his antics, but loved because it is all natural and a part of his original personality and love for life. 19) Greg Olsen: A very hard working veteran that has been productive for years. Had trouble with his newborn child and the entire league seemingly gathered around him to see him through his troubles. 20) Darrelle Revis: The top corner in the game. Strictly business on the field, but hard to see him in post or pre game without a number of other players hanging next to him trying to gain some of his knowledge. 21) Russell Wilson: One of the NFL's top underdogs. Much like Luck he is a student of the game and lives to compete. Won't talk trash, won't gloat, and won't get angry. One of the best well-spoken representatives of the game. 22) Kyle Long: A very young player, but very social and very much about being one of the best in the game. Easily the most well liked on his team and always makes himself available for the media 23) DaMarcus Ware: Maybe on the back end of his career, but still one of the most respected pass rushers in the game. Players love to laugh with him, but hate to play him. 24) Clay Matthews: A hilarious guy who plays the game the right way. 25) Luke Kuechly: The next great LB in the game. Huge smile that disappears on game days. Plays with 100% energy and is one of the smartest players on the defensive side of the ball. 26) Patrick Willis: Still considered by many players as the standard by which the LB position is set. Has missed time recently, and in the middle of an organization that has been changing, but a few years ago was the leader of the one of the most feared defenses in the league. 27) Eric Weddle: Another guy who loves the game and loves life even more. Always looking to make a joke and laugh on the sideline. Plays fast and hard. A underdog who wasn't expected to be much but ended up a star on his team. 28) Pat McAfee: Yes a punter! One of the most sociable and camera friendly players in the league. Constantly on ESPN and the NFLN even during the season. Backs up all the talk and jokes by being hands down the best punter and kick-off specialist in the league. 29) Troy Polamalu: Not the most productive veteran late in his career, but still gives everything he has on the field and leads his changing defense. No matter who fans feel about him, the players know seeing that hair fly in the wind while his body goes floating over the offensive line is still one of best sights in football. 30) Tom Brady: A 4x champion. A league MVP. And one of the best QBs to ever play the game. Why so low? Well because he might just be too good. The reality is that Brady is highly respected for his winning, but also the target of many defensive players jealous of his success.
BC 331 Posted February 24, 2015 (edited) 1. Russell Wilson (#1 jersey seller, most role-model like person) 2. Odell Beckham Jr (NFL/Fantasy Football's hottest new toy) 3. Richard Sherman 4. JJ Watt 5. Aaron Rodgers 6. Rob Gronkowski 7. Tom Brady (greatest ever, late draft pick, disproved doubters, etc) 8. Marshawn Lynch Disagree about the Mannings. There's so many negative opinions out there about the Mannings that it pretty much offsets the positive attention. Most people are on the Peyton needs to retire now train. Popularity to me is jersey sales and how many people bow down to a certain player largely due to fantasy football. JJ Watt seems to embody what every man out there fantasizes in being. A pure master of brute strength and toughness, almost to the point of being another species. Players who I was shocked to see nominated: Josh Scobee Jay Cutler Marshal Yanda Jerick Mckinnon Alex Smith Brandon Meriweather Richie Incognito Edited February 24, 2015 by BC

RazorStar 4,025 Posted February 24, 2015 =O Well if you don't like them, they aren't popular to you. I suppose TGP popular is different from Casual Popular.

Is arguably the most popular Texan of all.
