Top 3 Strengths and Weaknesses

Recommended Posts

:Seahawks:

Strengths:

1. Run game. Beast Mode + ZBS... enough said.

2. Defense. Unit has led the league in points allowed three years straight. There's a slight question mark with this group heading into the season due to ET's recovering shoulder injury, Kam's holdout (and its affect on the locker room), and losing Byron Maxwell. If the LOB takes a slight step back though, I can see it being negated by the DL taking a step forward with the addition of Frank Clark (who looked outstanding last night) and a couple of younger players coming back who've been marred by injury (Jordan Hill, Cassius Marsh, and possibly Jesse "The Monstar" Williams).

3. Play action. Homerism aside, I find it hard to foresee any team surpassing Seattle in big/explosive plays this year. Hawks led the league last year with 110, and the addition of Jimmy Graham's size to go with Luke Willson's speed... well, let's just say good luck to those defense facing our double TE sets.

Weaknesses:

1. Offensive line. Losing Unger (Saints) at center hurts, as does a road-grader at guard like Big Carp (Jets). The (big) holes in the line will be patched by unheralded, undrafted and late-round young guns, who may or may not be transitioning from the the other side of the ball. While Seattle called a pretty vanilla game plan for last night's game, a sieve would've bought more time for the QBs. Wilson's health and scramble ability will be as important as ever this year.

2. RB depth. Robert Turbin is average with rare moments of brilliance when spelling The Beast, but it remains to be seen if he could carry the load should the need arise. Former 2nd round pick Christine Michael has all the physical talent in the world, but his mental game leaves everything to be desired. Undrafted rookie Thomas Rawls threatens to replace him on the depth chart.

3. QB depth. Tavaris Jackson going down with a sprained ankle last night against the Broncos is unnerving. He's solid to get us through a couple games if needed, and from what I've read the sprain isn't serious and will only take a few weeks to heal. Our lack of depth at this position is more concerning considering the #1 weakness, which is the OL, particularly pass protection.
