BLUE 1,026 Posted July 30, 2015 Per Rotoworld.com: Contract-year WR Julio Jones says his agent is engaged in long-term talks with the Falcons. It's not known how far along the sides are. ESPN's Vaughn McClure reported earlier this month that there was a "general sense" a deal could get done by the start of camp, but it didn't happen. Week 1 is the new artificial deadline. Dutch 874 Posted July 30, 2015 Deserves at least 14 mil a year. A lot for a WR, yeah I know. But that's the rate of top flight elite WRs and he definitely is one of the best.
Cheesehead4life 6 Posted July 31, 2015 The Falcons need to lock him up for a period of time and he deserves a huge payday because he is a top 5 WR.
oochymp 2,393 Posted July 31, 2015 Dez and Demaryius both got $14M this season, the only WR making more is Calvin Johnson
RazorStar 4,025 Posted July 31, 2015 Julio should be getting the exact deal Dez and DT got.
Sarge+ 3,436 Posted July 31, 2015 14 mil is a lot to tie up in a receiver though. It's kinda one of those things where you don't have much of a choice. It's obviously a great thing to have an elite receiving on your team, but his pay hurts relative to what he is able to bring to the table.
oochymp 2,393 Posted July 31, 2015 also, Matt Ryan's cap hit jumps to almost $24M next season and stays there through 2017, not sure how their cap situation looks otherwise but he'll probably have to restructure to bring that number down before they can give Julio that kind of money
