All NFC East Team

Recommended Posts

Let's make All-Star teams out of all the divisions.

There are no formal rules for this. You can mix and match your players to fit any style you would want to play. This is especially true on offense, where I give you the option to choose a 2nd RB, a 2nd TE, or a 3rd WR. What kind of offense do you want to run for your All-Star team?

On defense, you can fill out a 3-4 or a 4-3. Or you can do both for fun, but only one could take the field in a hypothetical scenario. Let's get to it!

This I just based solely on making the best team I could with NFCE players. It was fun thinking about Alonso and Lee's coverage ability at outside LB in the 4-3 version plus McClain's physicality in the middle. It was also fun to think about how much pass rush you get on a 4-3 DL with Curry, JPP and Cox. Cox doesn't get a lot of opportunity to rush playing 5 tech, we've seen what he can do in the 4-3 before.

As for the offense, teams would be scared shitless of the deep threats and grin and bear it while Murray and Jason Witten take their hearts.Chip Kelly with Tony Romo and a good offensive line? Forget it. Everyone just quit now because you lose.

What has Badford (intentional) done to warrant shit except for acting like a pussy in the pocket and getting hurt all the time?

Offense:

QB: Eli Manning

RB1: DeMarco Murray

WR1: Dez Bryant

WR2: Odell Beckham Jr.

TE: Jason Witten

Utility player (RB2/TE2/WR3): Pierre Garcon

LT: Trent Williams

LG: Justin Pugh

C: Travis Frederick

RG: Zach Martin

RT: Doug Free

the NFC East has two teams with each formation, but I think more of the top players fit into a 3-4, so that's what I'm going with

3-4 defense

DE: Jeremy Mincey

NT: Pot Roast (Terrance Knighton)

DE: Fletcher Cox

LOLB: Ryan Kerrigan

ILB: Sean Lee

ILB: Rolando McClain

ROLB: Greg Hardy

CB1: Byron Maxwell

CB2: Orlando Scandrick

CB3: Dominique Rogers-Cromartie

FS: Barry Church

SS: Malcolm Jenkins

Return Specialist: Darren Sproles (I was very, very tempted to put DeSean Jackson here, but since the Skins aren't using him there I won't either)

Punter: Tress Way

Kicker: Josh Brown

Head Coach: Tom Coughlin

Offensive Coordinator: Pat Shurmur

Defensive Coordinator: Rod Marinelli

and the breakdown:
Cowboys: 11 players, 1 coach
Eagles: 5 players, 1 coach
Redskins: 5 players
Giants: 5 players, 1 coach
I'm interested by the number of people who went with Jackson as the third WR rather than Garcon, OBJ and Dez are the clear top two choices, but after that I thought a possession receiver would make more sense than another deep threat, I also think Garcon is overall a better WR than Jackson
and having five each from 3 teams was entirely unintentional

Please also add a CB3 to your team. I left it out in the beginning, but I shouldn't have.

I will never understand you people who insist on putting Eli Manning above Tony Romo...

they're really close (meaning I wouldn't call anyone outright wrong in choosing either) but Romo has always had better weapons, he's had Dez Bryant for five years, he's had Jason Witten for his whole career, he had Terrell Owens for three years, Eli hasn't had anyone as good as any of those three players, OBJ may get there, but he's not there yet, Victor Cruz had a couple of great years, but again I wouldn't put him on par with Bryant or Owens, the way I look at this Eli has done about as well as Romo with less talent around him, and that's without even getting into playoff performance

I wish Tony could have had one or two of the Giants' defensive units the last several years.

that's fair, but in terms of guys who directly impact a QBs performance I think it's almost indisputable that Romo's had more talent around him

This.

Plus on the offence as a whole Romo has had it better than Eli. If you compare the other positions, Romo has had had options year on year.

Compared to Eli who at times had the likes of David Tyree (The God) Eli has done bete with the players around him.

They are not really close. Eli is a turnover machine. Watch both over a 16 game season and it's clear who is better. Tony Romo is the 5th or 6th best QB in the game. Eli Manning sits at the 11-13 range.

Romo is better. More talented passer and more efficient. Eli has been a solid QB with some very shaky seasons. 2 out of the 5 times in the playoffs he had a hot and and played well. The actual superbowl games, two passes stood out but defense dominated those games.
