Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) Stream, stream, stream. Yahoo and the NFL announced Monday morning that the first-ever livestream football game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo Bills Sunday in London attracted 15.2 million unique viewers and 33.6 million total views. The NFL is sure to love the reach as 33 percent of the streams were from international users across 185 countries worldwide. The 15.2 million unique viewers is between the Thursday Night Football average (17.6 million) and Monday Night Football average (13.5 million), per King. All these numbers boil down to one simple fact: Get ready for more streaming NFL games. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000566104/article/yahoo-livestream-of-billsjags-attracts-336m-views Oh boy! Are you guys ready for more NFL streaming? Maybe even some prime time games?! Edited October 26, 2015 by Favre4Ever

Maverick 791 Posted October 26, 2015 When I heard this in the morning I was pretty shocked - especially considering the two teams featured (no offense Vin, Camp, blots). It's scary to think of how Goodell may run with this since the stream did so well.

It's scary to think of how Goodell may run with this since the stream did so well. Ya, I was going to mention that as well. I mean, the stream was on at like 9:30am in the United States and featured the BuffaLoL BiLoLs and the JacksonviLoLe Jaguars ... and still beat the average Monday Night game. Not sure the NFL could be more happy with this experiment. The only thing you have to wonder is, what was the average length of a view and was it something people wanted to try just to try or something they will use again? I am sure the NFL will want to answer those questions and follow this up as soon as they can.
Mentch 42 Posted October 26, 2015 This is probably the only thing anyone will ever use Yahoo for ever again. Kinda like Myspace where people only use it for music and porn
CampinWithaMissingPerson 2,025 Posted October 26, 2015 (edited) There's porn on MySpace? But yeah even people I knew who don't seem like huge NFL fans watched it too, they thought it was "neat." They were waiting in traffic for work watching on their phone. I even watched it outside on my porch on my phone too when I had a smoke. Had it ready to go in case halftime ended before I got inside — which it did. Pretty cool, it reminded me of NBCSports Extra's app where I can watch my soccer games on my phone and the stream quality is good and crisp like this one was too. I'm sure some people had probs with the stream, but overall mine went a lot better than I expected. In terms of future streamed games and continued I dunno if I care either way honestly. But yeah if I had to pay? Not sure about that because a stream is obviously less reliable then pumped in cable or dialed in SAT. Piggly Wiggly 960 Posted October 27, 2015 I had a wager on the Jags and I was out of town with my MacBook handy, so I ended up watching most of the game. Not really thrilled with the idea of more streaming in the future, though. I'd much rather watch a game on my 50'' plasma than my laptop or PC. But credit to the NFL's marketing department that incessantly pimped the ever living shit out of this #WatchWithTheWorld game on social media. Shit clearly got drilled hard into peoples' heads. BwareDWare94 723 Posted October 27, 2015 I'm fine with this so long as it's an option to stream the game along with watch it on TV. I don't want there to be one game on home soil a week that I have to turn on a fucking computer to watch. I mean, it's a simple fix with an HDMI cable but it's still a pain in the ass.
BradyFan81 404 Posted October 28, 2015 (edited) NFL exaggerated Sunday's Bills-Jags internet numbers When the league first disclosed “33.6 million” in connection with Sunday’s worldwide live stream of the Bills-Jaguars game, the B.S. meter should have begun to blare. Not long after that, the league reeled back its proclamation of 33.6 million streams to 15.2 million unique viewers for the Yahoo-only (except in Buffalo and Jacksonville) broadcast. But even that number is grossly exaggerated. Commissioner Roger Goodell said on ESPN Radio that “over 15 million people were viewing the game.” The true number, however, is much lower. Apart from the fact that any calculation of unique visitors includes as multiple people those who dialed up the game from multiple devices (with a viewer who clicked on the game from a computer, a tablet, and a cell phone device counting as three visitors, not one), the apples-to-apples comparison to the way television ratings are determined reveals a much lower audience. The Bills-Jaguars game on Yahoo averaged, according to SportsBusiness Journal, 1.64 million viewers. In contrast (and as noted by Peter King of TheMMQB.com), the Jets-Dolphins game from London, broadcast on CBS in the 9:30 a.m. ET window, had an average audience of 9.86 million. Of course, it’s unclear how Bills-Jaguars would have performed in comparison, especially since the home markets of the Jets-Dolphins game were much larger. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/10/27/nfl-exaggerated-sundays-bills-jags-internet-numbers/ Classic Goodell. What a dumb motherfucker. Edited October 28, 2015 by BradyFan81

DBR96A 87 Posted October 28, 2015 I like sitting on the couch in my living room with a big TV to watch football. It's not the same if I'm holed up in my bedroom on my dinky computer. Besides, my fucking internet connection likes to die for 30 seconds at a time every 10 minutes anyway.
Zack_of_Steel+ 3,014 Posted October 28, 2015 TIL it's impossible to stream through one's TV.
butta54 371 Posted October 30, 2015 (edited) I liked it. As I been out of the loop of most things didn't even know it was going to be a thing before that Sunday. As it happens I only watched it because it was on my fantasy football webpage. I didn't feel like getting out of bed to go watch it on TV so when I was laying in bed setting my lineup the stream popped up and I was like "yesssssss" so I stayed in bed and caught the game.
