Who you got...?

I hate LSU and I hate the honeybadger...but

When you're playing at FS, SS, C and rushing the passer and having so many roles on a defense. I think that makes you pretty special.

I'm sure there will be voter fatigue for Watt this year, but anyone who doesn't think he is the best defensive player in the league is either ignorant or trying to be different for the sake of just being different.

It won't be a Bronco, even though it probably should, because DPOY is entirely stats based. So many different guys have sacks and tackles that no one guy has outrageous numbers...

Some numbers:

Von Miller - 7 sacks, 2 FF

DWare - 6.5 sacks, 1 FF

Malik Jackson - 3.5 sacks

Shaq Barrett - 3.5 sacks, 3 FF

Sly Williams - 3 sacks

Antonio Smith - 2.5 sacks

Shane Ray - 2 sacks

T.J. Ward - 2 sacks, 2 FF

Derek Wolfe - 2 sacks

Corey Nelson - 1 sack

Vance Walker - 1 sack

David Bruton - 1 sack

Lerentee McCray - .5 sacks

Brandon Marshall - 1.5 sacks, 2 FF

I have no way, or desire really, to see if that kind of spread has ever been done before. Von and Malik have easily been top-5 defensive players this year, but they don't have gaudy stats so you probably won't see them in voting.

JJ, Josh Norman, Luke Keuchley, Kawann Short, Marcus Williams, Geno Atkins, Deonne Bucannon, Corey Graham... all guys worth a nod.

Like Fart said, it should be Watt, but I bet Keuchly wins because 11-0.

Meh - only counts if they go 16-0.

If Texans make the post season, that advantage disappears.

Keuchly is good, but also missed 4 weeks.

Norman would beat Kuechly out, IMO, solely because Luke missed three games.

I'm gonna argue that Luke is in the same league as Watt. Watt is the best defensive player still, but the gap has narrowed.

How has the gap narrowed...

I wouldn't argue with that. Kuechly and Norman definitely deserve to be in the conversation. If Watt were to win it again this year, it wouldn't be unanimous like it was last year.

Not really sure what else Luke has to do to convince you at this point. He's the best MLB in the league. He's not gonna have the sack stats that Watt does, but he is the captain of that defense, has the best instincts I've ever seen shy of perhaps Ray Lewis, and very rarely misses tackles.

If Fart is conceding that Luke is on the same level as Watt, Watt doesn't deserve the award.

Give it to Josh Norman.

Luke is having the best season by a MLB by PFF since they started grading such stats, (2007, so eight years), and he is breaking their scale. Even if he didn't play another down this season, he'd still have the best season by a MLB.

He has missed *one* tackle in the run-game, and is the only LB to miss just one tackle in 30+ attempts. He has the highest percentage of run-stops by any linebacker. QBR throwing his way is 47.7, the lowest among all linebackers.

I feel like Norman's issue is that no one is going to throw at him anymore. Rodgers only did the one time because he was in desperation mode. So he won't have stats to back up his claims and I feel like that will prevent him from beating someone like JJ Watt.

It hurt JJ Watt's chances that he didn't play against the Bills. :troll:

Luke is the best MLB easily. Norman would definitely be a candidate as well.

If Houston makes the playoffs, something tells me they give it to JJ Watt.

If any of those 3 win it I'd be fine with that.

Yeah, lucky for you guys he is battling a groin injury.

We're all hoping he's good for the Pats game.

I was a big fan of Luke winning it, still am, but there are too many pass rushers playing too well. Specifically two in Watt and Mack.

The guy wearing honolulu blue and silver is getting a lot of sacks too, but just hasn't been as dominant as those two.

I love how many defensive playmakers there are this year. Feels as if a balance is being restored...

^Balance won't be restored until Rodgers, Brees, and Brady get knocked the fuck out.
