Razor's 2016 NFL Mock Draft Version 2.0

Recommended Posts

Writeups are scarce since I rushed to do this up before the radio show, but whatever, let's get it.

Razor’s 2016 Mock Draft Version 2.0

1. Los Angeles Rams (From TEN) - Jared Goff, QB, Cal

Chance of trade: None

Positions of Priority: QB, Offensive Line, WR, Linebacker, Safety

I said in my first mock that the chance of the Rams trading was almost certain. I didn’t think they’d have the stones to jump up all the way to number 1. However, they trade up, they get their guy and hopefully have a QB for the future. Which is good because they don’t exactly have a way to protect him now.

2. Philadelphia Eagles (From CLE) - Carson Wentz, QB, North Dakota State

Chance of Trade: None

Positions of Priority: WR, CB, Linebacker, Quarterback, Runningback

The Eagles have moved from 13 all the way to 2 in this draft, to grab the second QB in this draft. I’m just wondering what stopped them from pulling the trigger on this sort of trade last year when the Titans were willing to move down? Regardless, Howie Roseman has shown us that the spirit of Chip has not left the Eagles, and now Carson Wentz is gonna make Sam Bradford into Sam Sadford.

3. San Diego Chargers - Laremy Tunsil, OT, Ole Miss

Chance of Trade: Medium

Positions of Priority: Offensive Line, Runningback, Secondary, General Depth

My pick hasn’t changed for the Chargers, but I could see them being tempted to move out of this spot as well, with Ramsey falling this far, some team might want to snipe the Cowboys for him, and the Chargers have a lot of holes they need to fill in this draft. However, no trades means the Chargers stay put and grab a legit LT to protect Philip Rivers.

4. Dallas Cowboys - Jalen Ramsey, CB/S, Florida State

Chance of trade: Low

Positions of Priority: Secondary, Defensive Line, Linebacker, Backup QB / Future Starter

The Cowboys staying put and grabbing the best defensive player is the best case scenario for them. I know Jerry Jones is really high on Ezekiel Elliot, but he’s been overruled before and he should be overruled now.

5. Jacksonville Jags - Joey Bosa, OLB, Ohio State

Chance of trade: Medium

Positions of Priority: Offensive Line, Linebacker, Edge Rusher, Cornerback

Build the defense, yadda yadda. This pick was originally Jack, but I have a sneaking suspicion they would like Bosa more, especially with this injury scaring teams away. Once Bitten, Twice Shy after the Fowler pick last year.

6. Baltimore Ravens - Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame

Chance of Trade: Medium

Positions of Priority: Offensive Line, Cornerback, Linebacker

The Ravens have been afforded more options, but I still think Stanley ends up being the pick. There aren’t many quality Left Tackles in this draft, might as well grab one before you need to get desperate.

7. San Francisco 49ers - Myles Jack, OLB, UCLA

Chance of Trade: Chip’s Wild Ride has no Brakes

Positions of Priority: Cornerback, WR, Centre, Right Tackle, Edge Rusher, ILB, Quarterback

I’m projecting a slight fall for Myles Jack, but not too far. He’s just too talented not to go highly, and by all means his recovery looks to be on track. It’s not potential nerve damage like what happened to Jaylon Smith. I am honestly thinking we’re more likely to get some ridiculous draft day trade from the Niners, so we’ll see.

8. Cleveland Browns (From PHI via MIA) - DeForest Buckner, DL, Oregon

Chance of Trade: High

Positions of priority: Quarterback, Starting WR, Offensive Line, Defensive Line, Linebackers, Safety

I’m thinking the Browns would like to keep trading down, the difference between the 8th best prospect and the 40th or so is slim unless they’ve really fallen in love with a guy. Failing that, they’d go with Buckner here on a BPA strategy, and he’s a good fit as a 3-4 end.

9. Tampa Bay Bucs - Vernon Hargreaves, CB, Florida

Chance of Trade: Low-Medium

Positions of Priority: Defensive End, Corner, Safety, Offensive Line

It’s smoke screen season so it’s time to spread rumours about players and drugs so they slip right into the trap the Bucs set. Bucs will do anything to get their guy, even spread vicious lies. After all, who cares if it works?

10. New York Giants - Laquon Treadwell, WR, Ole Miss

Chance of Trade: Low

Positions of Priority: RB, Offensive Line, Wide Receiver (depending on Cruz), Defensive End, Safety

Big Change for the Giants here, they continue to spread out the offense for Eli, give him another weapon to pair with Beckham, and just go to town and try to win football games 38-35.

11. Chicago Bears - Shaq Lawson, OLB, Clemson

Chance of Trade: Low

Positions of Priority: Offensive Line, Defensive End, Cornerback, Skill Position Depth

While I wouldn’t call this a need position, I see this as Chicago banking on a potential playmaker. Lamarr Houston and Pernell McPhee are strong contributors, but they aren’t the kind of players who take over a game. Shaq has that potential though.

12. New Orleans Saints - Will Fuller, WR, Notre Dame

Chance of Trade: Low

Positions of Priority: Defensive Line, Interior Offensive Line, Wide Receiver

13. Miami Dolphins (From PHI) - Ezekiel Elliot, RB, Ohio State

Chance of Trade: Low

Positions of Priority: Runningback, Guards, Corner, Defensive Tackle

14. Oakland Raiders - Darron Lee, LB, Ohio State

Chance of Trade: Medium

Positions of Priority: Linebacker, Corner, General Depth

*Boston’s More than a Feeling blasts on your speakers*

15. Tennessee Titans - Taylor Decker, RT, Ohio State

Chance of Trade: Medium-High

Positions of priority: Offensive Line, Starting WR, Defensive Line, Secondary

The Titans certainly have the ammo to bounce around some more, but if they settle here, they’re gonna grab another offensive linemen. I know they’ve drafted a lot highly without a great track record, but why stop now, right? Marcus Mariota is still at risk of just turning into a puddle before his 4th year, and you would think the Titans have learned something about protecting fragile QB’s after the Jake Locker experiment.

16. Detroit Lions - Sheldon Rankins, DT, Louisville

Chance of Trade: Medium-High

Positions of Priority: Offensive Line, Wide Receiver, Defensive Line, Cornerback

17. Atlanta Falcons - Kevin Dodd, DE, Clemson

Chance of Trade: Low

Positions of Priority: WR, TE, OT, Pass Rusher, Defensive Tackle

18. Indianapolis Colts - Derrick Henry, RB, Alabama

Chance of Trade: High

Positions of Priority: Everything that isn’t QB or WR

Because Colts.

19. Buffalo Bills - Leonard Floyd, OLB, Georgia

Chance of Trade: Low

Positions of Priority: Offensive Line, Edge Rusher, Defensive Tackle, Secondary

20. New York Jets - William Jackson, CB, Houston

Chance of Trade: Low

Positions of Priority: QB, Linebackers, Depth in Secondary

21. Washington Redskins - Eli Apple, CB, Ohio State

Chance of Trade: Low

Positions of Priority: Inside Linebacker, Interior Offensive Line, Secondary

They may have just signed Josh Norman, but they still need more secondary help than a single player provides. I may be high on Xavien Howard, but not a lot of teams are. Luckily for them Eli Apple is still in play here.

22. Houston Texans - Corey Coleman, WR, Baylor

Chance of Trade: Medium

Positions of Priority: Receivers, Defensive Line, Secondary

23. Minnesota Vikings - Jarran Reed, DT, Alabama

Chance of Trade: Medium-High

Positions of Priority: Holder (LACES OUT, JEFF), Wide Receiver, Defensive End

24. Cincinnati Bengals - Reggie Ragland, LB, Alabama

Chance of Trade: Medium

Position of Priority: Wide Receiver, Linebacker, Defensive End, Corner

25. Pittsburgh Steelers - Karl Joseph, S, West Virginia

Chance of Trade: High

Positions of Priority: Secondary, Linebackers, Nose Tackle, Left Tackle

26. Seattle Seahawks - Jack Conklin, OT, Michigan State

Chance of Trade: Medium

Positions of Priority: Offensive Line, Cornerback, Defensive Tackle

27. Green Bay Packers - A’Shawn Robinson, DE, Alabama

Chance of Trade: Low

Positions of Priority: Linebackers, Offensive Tackle, Defensive Line

28. Kansas City Chiefs - Xavien Howard, CB, Baylor

Chance of Trade: Medium

Positions of Priority: Wide Receiver, Secondary, Inside Linebacker, Offensive Line

Man I don’t give a FUUUUUUUCK.

29. Arizona Cardinals - Noah Spence, OLB, E Kentucky

Chance of Trade: High

Positions of Priority: Offensive Line, Cornerback, Depth

30. Carolina Panthers - Josh Doctson, WR, TCU

Chance of Trade: Medium-High

Positions of Priority: Offensive Tackles, Wide Receiver, Secondary Depth

31. Denver Broncos - Brian Kelly, C, Alabama

Chance of Trade: High

Positions of Priority: Offensive Line, QB, Inside Linebacker, Defensive End

Same position as last, different player though as I hear Brian Kelly is either surging up draft boards, or the media caught on to the fact that Kelly is high on draft boards just in time.

If Ragland is still on the board at #22 and the Texans don't take him, I'll be projectile vomiting all over the place.
