SteVo+ 3,702 Posted December 5, 2016 (edited) The market is open! Even though week 13 isn't in the books yet, I can post this a day early. Only Cherry, Vin, and ATL turned profits this quarter, with Cherry being our top shark by making a killing with the Bucs. Of the 16 participants, only 4 are turning a profit, so we all still suck. The market will close again at 1pm Eastern this Sunday, though if you want to buy/sell any Chiefs or Raiders stock, you'll have to do so prior to kickoff Thursday night. The market will re-open Monday January 1st, upon the conclusion of week 17. Those who have already bought shares: you may sell your shares and get your money back, buy more (if you have money), or retain it. If you take no action, all your shares will be kept. The Browns are still off limits for purchase. Reminder: all TGP members start with a balance of $100,000. Thanatos 2,847 Posted December 11, 2016 Sell all Eagles, Panthers, and Bengals stock. Buy with all remaining money, including any I might have sitting around, Steelers and Packers stock. 340 shares of the Pack. 285 shares of the Steelers.
SteVo+ 3,702 Posted December 11, 2016 Sell all Eagles, Panthers, and Bengals stock. Buy with all remaining money, including any I might have sitting around, Steelers and Packers stock. 340 shares of the Pack. 285 shares of the Steelers. After that you still have $14,215 to spend. Thanatos 2,847 Posted December 11, 2016 (edited) Yeah just realized that. Sell 200 shares of the Broncos and put that money, (12k), and the 14,215 into buying Colts stock. (o_O) Um. Colts are apparently $0 for stock, so I'd like a bajillion stocks in the Colts please. Just put all that money into buying as much Colts stock as I can. By my calculations that is 535 shares of the Colts. Edit: Jets are also $0/stock. Still don't want any. Edited December 11, 2016 by Thanatos
SteVo+ 3,702 Posted December 11, 2016 Sorry about that; the Colts are $49/share. So you can buy 351 shares for $17,199, leaving you with $16 left.
Thanatos 2,847 Posted December 11, 2016 So I now have 1000 shares of the Browns 535 shares of the Colts 340 shares of the Packers 285 shares of the Steelers $0 left over.
SteVo+ 3,702 Posted December 11, 2016 Plus the 300 shares of the Broncos you held onto.
SteVo+ 3,702 Posted December 31, 2016 Just so everyone knows, I will be re-opening the market on Black Monday, and it the next buy/sell period will be after the Super Bowl. So, during the playoffs, stock prices will likely only fluctuate for playoff teams. I say likely because, as a super random example, if Marcus Mariota decided to retire, the Titans' share prices would decline a bit.
Cherry 1,302 Posted December 31, 2016 Black Monday means what? This monday? Monday after week 17. Firing coaches and GMs.
SteVo+ 3,702 Posted January 2, 2017 The market is open! This was a less tumultuous period, with few major shifts in share prices. Most of us are in the red this quarter, so let's try to do better in the playoffs. The market will close this Saturday at kickoff of the Raiders/Texans game. The market will re-open Monday, February 6th, upon the conclusion of Super Bowl LI. So, share prices are only likely to shift this quarter for playoff teams. Those who have already bought shares: you may sell your shares and get your money back, buy more (if you have money), or retain it. If you take no action, all your shares will be kept. Both the Cleveland Browns and San Francisco 49ers are entering what I'm calling Chapter Eleven. All shares have been automatically sold to shareholders, and these teams are off limits for purchase until further notice. See below for further details/reasoning. Reminder: all TGP members start with a balance of $100,000. Team Share Prices For all prices, see the attached Excel spreadsheet. Some highlights: Largest Increase: Green Bay Packers $59 (+10.50) Atlanta Falcons $56.50 (+6.50) Pittsburgh Steelers $61 (+4.00) Largest Decrease: Denver Broncos $48 (-12.00) Seattle Seahawks $62 (-11.50) Oakland Raiders $65 (-10.00) Sell High! (top 5 share prices) Dallas Cowboys $84/share New England Patriots $82 Oakland Raiders $65 Seattle Seahawks $62 Kansas City Chiefs $61.50 Buy Low! (bottom 5) *Cleveland Browns $3 *San Francisco 49ers $9 Chicago Bears $22 Jacksonville Jaguars $23.50 San Diego Chargers $27 * - Chapter Eleven, shares unavailable for purchase TGP Members by Net Worth Cherry: $179,000 (-4,000) Vin: $146,450 (-250) ATL: $108,550 (-17,125) Bware: $99,550 (+850) Sarge: $99,140 (-2,908) seanbrock: $95,276 (-2,202) PhilElliot: $94,230 (-3,192.50) WentzWorld: $83,875 (+8,600) WeaponX: $83,875 (+8,600) RazorStar: $82,325 (-2,525) Thanatos: $78,920 (-1,030) Barracuda: $60,000 (0) Net worth includes available funds plus current value of all owned stocks. For a more detailed breakdown, see the Excel spreadsheet. Chapter Eleven So, with the Browns and 49ers share prices plummeting, a strategy became evident: just buy stock in shitty football teams and wait for them to improve their record. In the real stock market, the risk in buying low is companies going out of business. From now on, Chapter Eleven will be a risk buyers incur with crappy teams. The Browns and 49ers shares have been sold; the price will be re-evaluated at some point during the offseason. TGP Stock Market W17.xlsx
