oochymp 2,393 Posted November 28, 2016 Titans Release Perrish Cox; Promote Kalan Reed to Active Roster Jim Wyatt; Senior Writer/Editor; TitansOnline.com NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Titans have released veteran cornerback Perrish Cox, and the team will promote cornerback Kalan Reed from the practice squad to the team’s 53-man roster to take his place. Reed, a seventh-round pick (253rd overall) by the Titans in the 2016 draft, agreed to terms with the team on Monday morning. In four seasons at Southern Mississippi (2012-15), Reed played in 48 games with 39 starts. Reed registered 152 career tackles, eight interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), 35 passes defensed and 8.5 tackles for loss. Cox, signed by the Titans in March 2015, played in 11 games for the Titans this season, with nine starts. Over the past two seasons, Cox played in 24 games with the Titans, making 22 starts. Cox recorded three interceptions in 11 games this season, but he struggled in coverage in recent games. He played in 56 snaps in the team’s 27-21 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Reed lived in Nashville from the time he was two-years old until he was six. He started playing football in Antioch, Tenn., with the Flatrock Vols pee-wee team and played during halftime of a Titans game when he was five-years old. I'm a little surprised at the move, as we demonstrated this week we're not exactly deep at the position, maybe Reed can be an improvement? He can't be much worse. My guess is the team came to the conclusion that Cox is not going to be on the roster next season and wanted to see what we've got in Reed for offseason decision making. oochymp 2,393 Posted November 28, 2016 On an amusing note, this means the Titans now have to Mr. Irrelevants on the roster (Reed from this year and Ryan Succop from 2009)
56AceInDaPlace 110 Posted November 29, 2016 He has played like garbage. Good release. He just can't play corner.
