For example assume you could draft Ben Roethlisberger or Joe Thomas you take Ben despite Thomas being better at a vital position. On the flip side if I had a choice between drafting Joe Thomas in the first round or say Alex Smith, I'll take Joe Thomas. You make it an elite defensive prospect like Von Miller or in this case Myles Garrett then you complicate things further on my scale. Man does it suck to the Browns. Go 0-16 and you do it in a year with a questionable QB class but is it actually a good thing? I mean, the Browns have wasted so many first round picks on QB's it's not clear if they know what to do if they get a good QB. I'm usually against picking running backs in the top 15-20 picks, never mind number 1 overall, but could Leonard Fournette be the guy they need to just get something going on offense. To have some identity. So even if the QB carousel keeps going around you have 1 constant on offense? Maybe then your team can develop and identity and you can have a plan for the future. Be a run first, physical team with a good defense. Ideally they'd trade down a couple spots but who wants the number 1 overall this year? Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I think as we get closer to the draft teams are going to recognize that this QB class is actually very deep and start making moves upwards to go get their guy. I'd be shocked if the first player off the board isn't a QB. Maybe Browns trade back and get a few more picks, but there are enough teams that want QBs to go for the #1. I'm of the opinion that if you don't have a franchise QB on your roster, you should go for one until you get one. The Browns have the luxury of probably having two very early draft picks, at least one should be spent on getting a QB with 1st rd. talent. It's a bit interesting because Kizer is the only guy I have right now as a top-ish talent at QB, and only him and Watson are 1st rd. QBs for me right now. Trub I know has been gaining steam, and will gain more as the draft season picks up, but through three games I've watched of him, one being the storm game... Other than that, they need just about everything. A center, first and foremost. Cam Erving is the absolute worst center in the league. They need lineman, they need receivers, they need a quarterback, they need defensive lineman, linebackers, cornerbacks, safeties. They need a new defensive coordinator. Seems like insanity to me. Also, the idea of aquiring talent, fixing OLine, etc, then trying to pursue a QB is always proposed, and it's a great one way ticket to mediocrity and being a treadmill team. It's safe to say the Browns will have a chance to draft a QB they like next year after going 1-15 and they're not then they probably did something right. I know we're talking about draft picks here but you have the right coach. I have a lot of faith in Hue Jackson. It's been a long time coming for him to get a shot at being a head coach. To that point I think there's a case to be made for waiting on a QB and taking a gamble on a guy number 1. Jackson is a good offensive coach so on one hand you have to have faith he can make Kizer into a good QB. Especially with the actually decent talent at the skills they have. You can also look to the success he had with a second round QB in Dalton during his time with the Bengals. I think ultimately they go with a QB first overall. That's what you do when you get an offensive specialist as your HC but the Browns must invest in the offensive line this off season or thet'll continue to struggle and risk hanging yet another rookie QB out to dry.
