ATL_Predator+ 1,196 Posted January 10, 2017 The Raiders may be keeping their offensive coordinator job in house. Via CSNBayArea.com, multiple reports point to quarterbacks coach Todd Downing replacing Bill Musgrave in the play-calling role. Downing has been with the Raiders since 2015, and would likely keep things reasonably consistent for a team that was headed for a top-two seed before quarterback Derek Carr suffered a broken leg. The Raiders were in the top 10 in the league in both yards and points, so it makes sense they’d want to maintain the direction, although promoting him would mean disregarding the league’s strong suggestion that teams comply with the Rooney Rule for coordinator jobs. People want to say our offense was top 10 and all that BS, but you don't understand that football is more than a game of stats. Time in and time out Musgrave's conservative playcalling led to predictablility and the lack of proper use of Latavius, Walford, Rivera.. and the entire middle of the fucking field. Our drives were either long and systematic... or three and outs. Put way too much of the workload on Amari and Crab. Downing is Carr's boy so hopefully moving forward they can see things clearly and be more efficient. As for us retaining Norton, someone please fist me.
