BwareDWare94 723 Posted March 13, 2017 http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000792763/article/broncos-lb-demarcus-ware-retires-after-12-nfl-seasons This is a sad, sad day for me. I respect his decision to ensure better quality of life later on but he has several good years left in him. I'm just glad we got to watch him return to form during the playoffs and Super Bowl victory a year ago.
RazorStar 4,025 Posted March 13, 2017 He was a hell of a player and it didn't take long for him to be a respected leader in the Broncos locker room. I'm glad we could win him a super bowl ring, and I hope he has a great life after football. How soon does he get into the hall of fame? Does he get into the hall of fame? Sarge+ 3,436 Posted March 14, 2017 10 years at most IMO. He's a sure-fire HOFer I think.
SteVo+ 3,702 Posted March 14, 2017 Hall of Famer with zero doubt.
Milla4Prez63 678 Posted March 14, 2017 For sure going to the HOF. Glad we got to see him win a ring, and even better it wasn't with the Cowboys.

seanbrock 1,684 Posted March 14, 2017 He's first ballot in my book. Oh yeah without a doubt. He had a run of a few years where he was arguably the best defensive player in the game. Zack would probably yell at you about Harrison being better in coverage but wtf does he know
Sarge+ 3,436 Posted March 14, 2017 I really think he'll have to wait a little beyond his first year of eligibility, but I might be wrong.
Warhorse 132 Posted March 14, 2017 He's in...second year probably at worst.

Zack would probably yell at you about Harrison being better in coverage but wtf does he know No I would say Harrison was as good if not better at rushing the passer, but was in coverage like 30% more. Both should be in the HoF. Edited March 15, 2017 by Zack_of_Steel
BwareDWare94 723 Posted March 15, 2017 The biggest difference between the two is that Ware was as good for a longer span of time, but I would attribute that to physical gifts that Harrison wasn't blessed with

Harrison has long been known as one of the strongest players in the league and he was our best LB at age 38. He just signed a 2 year contract. Additionally, the only reason Ware was around for a longer span was because Harrison was backing up Porter until 2007 when he was pushing 30. He was an undrafted FA that nobody took seriously for years, but he stuck on the Steelers roster that heavily favored vets under LeBeau by wrecking shit on ST. The two knocks I had with LeBeau were not giving the young guys a chance and not adapting to the Patriots.

I'm talking about length and speed, and James Harrison now is not close to what he was years ago, and hasn't been close to that since he went to Cincinnati. Ware's prime was longer, and would have been even longer if not for a neck injury. James Harrison was a great player. DeMarcus Ware was better and his later career years in Denver were better than Harrison's later career years in Cincy/Pittsburgh. Harrison may have played in coverage more, but as of right now we're talking about a 50 sack difference. All that being said, I'm glad we still get to watch James Harrison play. Zack_of_Steel+ 3,014 Posted March 24, 2017 Sorry, but volume rarely beats average and factoring snap counts and pass rush attempts, Harrison wins in Sack% while also being miles better in coverage. Not to mention he has a DPOY award and maybe the greatest play in SB history under his belt.
RazorStar 4,025 Posted March 24, 2017 well we all know the greatest play in SB history was the David Tyree Helmet catch, but the 100 yard pick six has a place in the top 5 I'm sure.
BwareDWare94 723 Posted March 24, 2017 (edited) You mean the pick 6 that only happened because of 2 or 3 uncalled illegal block in the back penalties? And sack percentage, really? Ware still has over 50 more sacks than Harrison. You can't base your argument on what might have happened. Edited March 24, 2017 by BwareDWare94

The minute I accept anything you have to say regarding fair play and reffing is the minute the line in my will kicks in and I head to Oregon to get assisted-offed. And yes, Sack%. Are you kidding me? Guess Favre and Manning are the greatest QBs ever. Stafford should be MVP because he throws the ball 600 times a year. Some RB avgs 2.5 YPC and rushes for 2,500--HOF! Sarge+ 3,436 Posted March 25, 2017 That play was a 14 point swing... lol. Literally the Steelers would not have won without that play.
