So.

We got a situation here in Jacksonville. Doug Marrone after last night's game essentially said the starting QB position is up for grabs.

You have the moneyman in Blake Bortles... who led the mighty Jags on 4 drives last night to 4 punts

You have the stable Chad Henne who played with the one's longer than Bortles did last night (and played somewhat better)

And you have young Brandon Allen. Came in and played well against scrubs, but produced nonetheless.

Who are the Jags starting week 1 and why?

Can we just skip this football season?

No. It gets better, Erik.

The Florida Times Union's Ryan O'Halloran believes "it would make perfect sense" for the Jaguars to cut Blake Bortles this summer.

Whew. It would be quite the turn of events, but 1010 XL Jacksonville's Hays Carlyon suggested a similar thing Friday morning. The No. 3 overall pick in the 2014 draft, Bortles has melted down this summer, first experiencing a "tired arm" last weekend, whether that was an excuse by coach Doug Marrone in order to see more of Chad Henne or not, and then Bortles completely hitting rock bottom in Thursday's preseason game. He forced throws, missed wide-open big plays, and even his completions were a chore. Bortles' 2017 salary is guaranteed, but the Jaguars can't let Bortles on the field and expose him to injury, which would kick in a guarantee of his $19 million salary for 2018. Henne is the favorite to start.

I saw that.

I have lived through the nightmare of Henne opening the season before.

Bortles saved us all from that nightmare.

Now, the nightmare returns, and there will be no savior.

Yeah, after you come out and say what you did... Idk how you put him back in as a starter, even if you wanted him to be. Time to rebuild for the Jags...

I'm gonna say Bortles, but I'm not very confident in that answer. I think the Jags will give him a few regular season games to prove himself before pulling the plug. I'm not buying the buzz that they'll cut him pre-season, though I wouldn't be shocked if it happened.

Jags should trade for Brett Hundley. Packers already have Hall of Famer Taysom Hill on the roster.

Bortles is their best option, so Bortles

Absolutely the right decision. Henne is terrible. Bortles will improve.

Will he, though? lol. We've been saying that for years and he actually regressed last season. The guy relies on his coach / OC calling a shit load of passes to even have OKish numbers. His efficiency is, maybe the worst of any starting QB. He has struggled to hit 60% completion. Like, come on. lol

You might as well give Blake one final shot here and if he fails miserably, you get a good QB in the draft and hopefully in two years are competing for a playoff spot.

You know what Chad Henne brings. It's suckage.

To be fair, Leonard Fournette just got back in practice and if he can back up his words and become Ezekiell Elliot 2.0, then this offense will look a lot different on opening day.

Fournette and Zeke are nothing alike...

Zeke can actually be an asset in pass pro and in the receiving game...
