Jerry Jones V. NFL

Recommended Posts

"I'm gonna come after you with everything I have," Jones said. Then he mentioned Deflategate. "If you think Bob Kraft came after you hard, Bob Kraft is a p---y compared to what I'm going to do."

Nobody knows what Jones is going to do. But at the age of 58, Goodell is fighting to keep his job. In public, he looks fresh and energetic, and he is more resolute than ever to leave with a legacy of having come close to fixing football's long-standing issues. Up close, though, his face has changed due to relentless stress; it is now sallow and lined and tired. Roger Goodell is in a battle few saw coming, with the league's membership teetering on an all-out, unprecedented civil war.

If Jerry could get like some kinds of semi-harmful but not terminal or overly detrimental cancer or other disease, it could bring him some much needed humility.

Rich people can actually afford the treatments that work. It would just verify what he already knows. Cash is king.

Jerry Jones Makes Racially-Charged Comment About White Fan Being ‘With a Black Girl Tonight’

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones made a racial comment to a fan in a Dallas hotel after the man asked for a congratulatory message for his new fiancée.

The video was shot in 2013 at the Warwick Melrose Hotel in Dallas, Texas. Jones is walking near the bar and appears to be heading out of the hotel.

In the video, he’s asked to deliver a special message for the recent engagement or wedding of a couple who seem to be Cowboys fans.

Jones looks directly into the camera and says, “Jennifer, congratulations on the wedding. Now, you know he’s with a black girl tonight, don’t you?” He then busts up laughing.

We’re told the fan in question is white.

Even though the video was shot four years ago, we’re told the fan recently shared it with his group of friends because he thought the current temperature of race in the NFL and the country made Jones’ comments relevant. The friends were shocked after seeing the footage.

It was sent to The Blast because the individuals involved thought it was important for NFL fans to see. The source we spoke with said, “F**k Jerry Jones.”

Report: Adam Silver Contacted About Replacing Roger Goodell as NFL Commissioner

NFL owners have been discussing potential succession plans for commissioner Roger Goodell as debate continues to rage regarding his future in the league office, and one interesting name reportedly surfaced of late.

According to ESPN.com's Don Van Natta Jr. and Seth Wickersham, "a confidant of one owner reached out to gauge whether Adam Silver, the NBA commissioner, would be interested in running the NFL."

Silver, however, had zero interest in the proposition and "immediately said no."

That Silver would decline is hardly surprising.

The 55-year-old joined the NBA in 1992 and steadily worked his way through various roles, including NBA chief of staff and special assistant to the commissioner, before he took over as commissioner for David Stern in February 2014.

Since then, the league has experienced something of a financial and popularity boom.

In Oct. 2014, the NBA agreed to a nine-year, $24 billion television rights deal with ESPN and TNT—which was valued at three times the previous agreement, according to the New York Times' Richard Sandomir.

More recently, the league watched as the 2017 Finals between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors became the most-watched championship series since 1998.

The story has differed for the NFL.

Jones is in the right, so hopefully we're done with Goodell in the near future

I would take Jerry more seriously if he was like this all the time and not just vocal because his star player got suspended.

Goodell isn't going anywhere. You can count on that. He's going to have the support of the majority of owners, and why wouldn't he? He makes them lots of money.

I don't think it's so much that Elliot was suspended as it's about him being suspended without sufficient evidence. Jerry needs to be the whistle blower here or this will continue to happen.

That's why the next CBA negotiations are going to be interesting. The owners clearly won the last one, so hopefully the NFLPA do a better job the next go-around. Show DeMaurice Smith the door, if they know what's good for them.

Players are gonna have to give up some of their aspirations though. There is a lot they want (and most of which they probably deserve). A combination of their immense failure to produce last time around and the nature of negotiations say they won't be able to acquire a majority of what they want.

What is going to be more important to players and the union -- trying to get more money, guaranteed contracts. Obviously they will want to curb the power of Goodell / the commish , but what do they fight hardest for and what do they concede back to the league?

They thought they had a deal on independent arbitration this last time around... Look how that turned out. lol.

With the union licking their wounds from the last go around, I feel like we could be in for quite a dog fight. Probably gonna be extra aggressive and try to recoup what they lost in the prior negotiations -- not sure how much the owners will give into that.

I think the funniest part about this is people are expecting a reasonable result, or some sort of good faith negotiation on the part of either of the parties that are involved with this fiasco. The truth of the matter is that Goodell has been given such a large amount of power that he can unilaterally attack any player he wishes without almost zero repercussions. Another thing to consider here for Jones is that it is more probable than not that he will get this extension and all he has done is piss off the front man.

I hate Roger with a passion and think he is singlehandedly going to bring about a serious downturn in this sport because he is too concerned about profit over product, and like everyone else before him in that position, he will set the market for a while, and then it will collapse under its own weight. It happened with Tagliabue, and it will happen with Goodell.

As to the actual suspension I think Zeke was set up by a gold digging whore. That is all we really have evidence of. Now do I think he is some misguided saint? No. I think Zeke really is an asshole. I think he your typical affluenza douche bag who has been told how great he is almost his whole life and especially during his formative and early adult years. He acted that way because that is how he was made. Who cares how wrong he is, he has talent which will translate to money. That said when it comes to this allegation I think a woman is beating him at his own game because she is an even shittier human being. So I could care less who wins this little shit show.

Just my .02.

NFL compensation committee denies Jerry Jones' request for vote on Roger Goodell contract extension

ESPN 4:26 PM ET

The NFL's compensation committee has denied Jerry Jones' request that the league's owners be allowed a final vote of approval on commissioner Roger Goodell's contract extension, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
The committee also reiterated Monday that Jones should drop his threat to sue the league over Goodell's deal, saying in a letter obtained by the Journal that the Dallas Cowboys owner's dispute with the commissioner "reflects conduct unbefitting an owner and is damaging to the League."
Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, the chairman of the six-person committee, responded to Jones' request for a vote by citing a May resolution in which the 32 owners unanimously gave the committee authority to negotiate Goodell's extension.
In the letter, Blank wrote that Jones was ignoring facts "to satisfy your personal agenda," according to the Journal.
Sources familiar with the negotiations told ESPN that Goodell's extension still is on track to be completed at or before the owners' Dec. 13 meetings in Dallas.

The fact that the owners already voted to give the Committee this authority is going to make it really difficult to argue that Jones' suit isn't frivolous.
