BwareDWare94 723 Posted July 17, 2018 (edited) What are everybody's thoughts on the proclaimed Democratic Socialist who upset an incumbent in the Democratic primary in a district in New York? I'm a fan of the humanitarian side of her views, but don't really care for the exaggerated backstory. Don't tell us you came from nothing when you lived in a good neighborhood with parents who made over 6 figures. That being said, pretty sure we should be able to get past that considering her occupation is as a politician. Also she has the craziest crazy eyes I think I've ever seen on a woman. Like "overly-attached girlfriend" crazy eyes with a touch of Chucky the doll. Edited July 17, 2018 by BwareDWare94
Thanatos 2,847 Posted July 17, 2018 I admit I know very little of her outside of the fact that she has a very progressive platform and defeated someone heavily favored to win. And that said person was so confident of winning he didn't even attend the two debates, but sent a surrogate instead, which in at least one case was also a female latino, which just strikes me as so completely tone-deaf its hilarious. Also hilarious was him singing a song and dedicating it to his rival instead of a concession speech- probably because he didn't have one written. And Hannity showing her platform and downright shivering while he read it like it was a book of the devil or something just made me laugh.
RazorStar 4,025 Posted July 18, 2018 I think that's the narrative the media pushes because they want to make everything an "us vs. them" debate. Dichotomies drum up ratings.
BwareDWare94 723 Posted July 19, 2018 If you follow the right wing narrative, she botches one interview after another by not really knowing what she's talking about. If you follow the left wing narrative she's a firecracker with the potential to be a powerful young voice. They're both right. Let's see if she studies up a bit more or at least gets better at answering questions in interviews.
seanbrock 1,684 Posted July 20, 2018 What makes you think she doesn't know what she's talking about? Just the right wing narrative?
BwareDWare94 723 Posted July 20, 2018 What makes you think she doesn't know what she's talking about? Just the right wing narrative? I don't personally know if I think that she "doesn't know what she's talking about" but I was just saying that's the right wing narrative. There is evidence of that in her interviews, though. They're kind of hilarious.
seanbrock 1,684 Posted July 21, 2018 She's a political novice who is not used to being interviewed and she knows everything she says will be heavily scrutinized. I saw her PBS interview and she stumbled on the Israel/Palestine issue but you have to understand that to be too critical of Israel can be a very bad thing politically. I think once we get to see her in action we'll have a much better idea of how capable or incapable she is but I don't think it's fair to judge her on some of her first major interviews, personally. At least not yet.
Omerta+ 1,206 Posted July 21, 2018 (edited) I think she is a little doe-eyed and honestly has no fucking idea what she is talking about, but we are going to find out. I am more than willing to give her the chance and see what she has, because she is absolutely representative of the pulse of this country. The democrats got lazy in an election AGAIN and another heavily favored candidate lost to the upstart. In this case the consequence is lot less in this instance than Donald Trump. I think the party that realizes the people of this country are tired of the status quo, and the establishment itself, is going to have power for a while. I think both parties are on equal footing there, with maybe a slight lead to the republicans. If you look at the presidential race the alt left candidate was Bernie, and the alt right candidate is now our president. The republicans were pretty much put in a position by their constituency that Trump had to win the nomination no matter how much they wished it were Cruz or Rubio. Democrats undercut their upstart that people wanted, and actively sabotaged him. So the Republicans may have a slight lead in that area at the moment, which is shitty, but the Democrats have people like SOC who are starting to run and get young people excited, so we will see. I think it is also worth noting young conservatives and young democrats could find more middle ground than a lot of people realize, we just get hung up on 5 issues we are never going to change, and we put blinders on and ignore other things we COULD fix. The younger we get in politics I think the better we are going to be. Which is funny because you millennials outnumber the baby boomers but dont vote like they do. this country could already be yours. You just cant seem to find a relatively straight candidate who represents issues instead of just being a woman, and thus breaking history so you are with her, even though she was as flawed as her counterpart. Put up Lizzie, O'Malley, or a few others and you might just win an election straight out. Edited July 21, 2018 by Omerta
seanbrock 1,684 Posted July 21, 2018 (edited) Hillary is running again and they will rig it so she gets the nomination again Edited July 21, 2018 by seanbrock
Omerta+ 1,206 Posted July 21, 2018 And that will surprise no one. If they do let her run again and they rig it again (they probably will), but if they are dumb enough to do it again, they deserve another term of Trump. They have a few candidates to choose from, but Cory Booker is out, so is Kamala Harris, So are bernie and Biden, so that really only leaves Warren. Say it like this if they put her up again I would vote for trump, and I am an O'malley guy.
Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted July 21, 2018 LOL Warren.. *puke*Somebody get Tulsi Gabbard to run.

blotsfan 2,112 Posted July 21, 2018 Honestly, I just want someone younger. Not Hillary (which isn't going to happen btw), not Bernie, not Biden, not Warren. Doesn't have to be a kid, but I want the next president to not be in their 70s or 80s.

Favre4Ever+ 4,476 Posted July 22, 2018 I dont mind Warren, I am not sure I like Gabbard, but as far as liberals go, I am an O'malley fan. Warren just seems too old school to me. And the word I am looking for is escaping me but she almost seems like a caricature of herself with these one liner sound bytes... I don't agree with everything that Gabbard does, but she's a young(er) fresh mind. I like her energy, she sounds like she actually knows her shit. I scroll through her and other politicians I like social occasionally and most of the tim eon hers I read stuff and am just nodding, "yep", "absolutely", "glad someone is saying it" For example... Last 3 Gabbard tweets https://twitter.com/TulsiGabbard/status/1020756048284708864 https://twitter.com/TulsiGabbard/status/1020711753607450625 https://twitter.com/TulsiGabbard/status/1020091418562482179 She's going after real targets... Big banks, big pharma.. She doesn't give a shit that Turkey is in NATO, if they fuck up they hear about it. Oh yeah and BONUS: https://twitter.com/nikoCSFB/status/1020323133801336832 It's not just fuck Russia / GOP or fuck the DNC for literally rigging an election... It's fuck everyone. You all suck.. this system is broken. I don't always agree with the way she wants to solve things. For example, I don't think Bernie's bill really attacks the heart of the opioid crisis, but holding Big Pharma execs responsible for shady ass shit is a good start in my book. But overall, I like where her head is at.
OSUViking 505 Posted July 22, 2018 I realize the likelihood of Clinton running again is nill. But if she runs again, I will absolutely not vote for her if she wins the primary and I don't care what the alternative is. Even if it's fucking Pence, if through some absolutely dumb bullshit Clinton is the Dem candidate I'm not voting for her. It'd be unbelievably dense for the DNC to sabotage to make Hillary the rep again, and to be clear I absolutely think it'd take a complete rigging of the primary system for her to be the candidate in 2020. (I say this having spitefully voted for Hillary against Trump. The way she handled the election and her defeat were pathetic.)
Omerta+ 1,206 Posted July 22, 2018 So you're saying....it's not...because she is a woman? I don't believe you lol. In seriousness a lot if people believe that is the reason she lost.

Hmm, I think you're mostly being humorous through this post can't but tell for sure. To clarify, I never thought she lost because she was a woman, I thought she lost because she had a shitty campaign and she thought she was somehow good enough or entitled to the presidency that the quality of her campaign didn't matter. My reservations against her had little to do with her being a woman. Though reading your post again I'm quite sure you were just being humorous, lol. seanbrock 1,684 Posted July 22, 2018 Hillary is going to run again she's psychotic. She also basically still owns the DNC because isntead of grass roots fund raising they'd rather sell their soul to the Clinton Foundation.

I do not think you are sexist, much like the majority of the country. It was moreso playing at the stupidity of the people who think that she lost because this country is so misogynistic we would not elect her, because she has a vagina. It couldn't be because she was the worst candidate in presidential history, and she ran the dumbest campaign that was possible....Noooooooooooo, not that.
seanbrock 1,684 Posted July 22, 2018 Bill Clinton and Barack Obama come off as guys that you would want to hang out with. They seem down to earth. Hillary has none of that charisma. The more she talks, the more people don't like her. She can't hide her contempt for most of the people in this country. She called young black men super predators but she also hates blue collar workers and liberals. She can't hide it, people pick up on it. I think that's the real reason she didn't campaign in the rust belt.
BwareDWare94 723 Posted July 22, 2018 There's a reason I referred to her as Pennywise the Clown during the election. She was so...devious. Everything was so fake. I think I knew she'd lose when she ended a debate with "May the Force Be With You!" when whichever Star Wars movie was released during that time. It was so obviously planned and fake. There's nothing to like about her, whatsoever. As a matter of fact, to double down on the Pennywise nickname, I'm tempted to have a custom made shirt made that has her face and the quote "Children taste so much better when they're scared!" on it. Jesus Christ, is she horrible.

The gay lobby is the only group of people who still think she likes them lol. I don't get it.
