Carolina has scored at least 20 points in seven consecutive games against the Lions, the team's longest active streak against any opponent. Carolina lost 52-21 at Pittsburgh last Thursday night. The 52 points scored by the Steelers tied the most ever allowed in a single game by the Panthers, originally set in Week 17 of 2000 against Oakland. The Lions have lost three games in a row, each by at least 10 points. Detroit has four double-digit losses this season -- only the Cardinals (5) have more such losses among NFC teams. The Panthers average 138.4 yards on the ground, third most in the NFL. Carolina is 6-1 when eclipsing the 100-yard rushing mark. The Lions surrender an average of 132.7 rushing yards, fifth most in the NFL. When opponents rush for over 100 yards, Detroit is 1-5 this season. Christian McCaffrey was involved in all three touchdowns scored by the Panthers last week (2 rec, 1 rush). McCaffrey has gained more than 400 yards both rushing and receiving and has at least four touchdowns of each variety. The only other player this season who can claim that is Todd Gurley II. Kerryon Johnson has rushed for 554 yards this season, the most by a Lions player through nine team games in a season since Reggie Bush in 2013 (623). The Lions are 3-0 this season when Johnson rushes for at least 70 yards and 0-6 when he fails to reach that mark.
