As I do every year, I will have numerous mock drafts, this is version 1. Welcome.
*Picks are scheduled to change*
Indianapolis (2-14)- Andrew Luck
The best prospect to come out this decade, the Colts would be morons to not take him. With new management coming in the Colts will more than likely enter the season with a new head coach, and a new franchise Quarterback. Even if Manning is healthy the owner would be dumb to not draft the best player in the draft.
St. Louis (2-14)- Matt Kalil
More than likely there will be a trade here for someone to grab Robert Griffin III. The Rams need to help keep Bradford healthy so he can be that franchise guy and lead them back to the play offs like he did his rookie year. The best prospect in the draft besides Andrew Luck.
Minnesota (3-13)- Justin Blackmon
If Griffin is on the board here(and I am doing no trades in this mock draft) then this pick has a good chance of being traded. Minnesota could either go Blackmon or Cornerback Morris Claiborne out of Louisiana State University. Any way they go it should help the team.
Cleveland (4-12)- Robert Griffin
The Browns will more than likely make a move up into the top 3 to nab Griffin, unless he falls here. McCoy is not a franchise Quarterback, we have learned the hard way. We need a new face of the franchise and Griffin could honestly turn this team around. He is a better pure passer than Cam Newton and look what he did.
Tampa Bay (4-12)- Tony Richardson
Best player available for their biggest need. The Bucs have what seems to look like a franchise Quarterback in Josh Freeman and a solid running game could really help him and the team improve.
Washington (5-11)-Morris Claiborne
If your the Redskins and you haven't traded up for a Quarterback or acquired one you have to look at Landry Jones here, sure it would be a reach but it is needed. Ultimately I think they will draft the best player on the board. Washington needs help in so many positions. More than likely though, this pick will be apart of a trade.
Jacksonville (5-11)- Alshon Jeffrey
Jacksonville needs a Wide Reciever. I personally believe it is too early to give up on last years first round pick Blake Gabbert so they should add him a good target. Jeffrey tore up the SEC and I believe he will have a solid NFL Career. Also see Landry Jones here.
Miami (6-10)-Jonathan Martin
This line stinks, plain and simple. Matt Moore proved this year he can be a decent Quarterback so you don't need to burn a first on one right now. They need another dominating tackle across from Jake Long and this guy has the potential to do so.
Carolina (6-10)-Riley Reiff
The Panthers hit gold with Cam Newton. So they are going to make sure he has a solid line to keep him healthy. Defense is a huge need,as we saw in their last game against the Saints, but this pick makes the most sense if Miami doesn't nab him the pick before.
Buffalo (6-10)-Quinton Coples
The Bills need pass rushing help. With Aaron Maybin dominating for the Jets they look to bring in another end. Preferably he would be a 4-3 type end but in Buffalo you never know. He would be a solid pick up here for the Bills.
Kansas City (7-9)- Landry Jones
There is a great chance Jones won't be here either via a trade up or a reach. Matt Cassel is not the answer in Kansas City. With a new Head Coach he is going to want to put in his guy. Jones has the potential to be a franchise Quarterback.
Seattle (7-9)-Dre Kirkpatrick
With Quarterback their biggest need, and not another top 20 prospect on the board I think they draft the best overall talent on the board. Kirkpatrick who could easily be a top 10 picks falls down here into Seattle's lap. Landry Jones or Ryan Tannehill could be options here.
Arizona (8-8)-Luke Kuechly
Arizona needs a MIKE. Bad. They signed Bradley in the off season to a pretty heavy amount, and he played like he belonged in the UFL. They need a new man in the middle. He could easily become a leader on this defense and would be the most solid pick here.
Dallas (8-8)-Melvin Ingram
Dallas needs a solid Defensive End to replace Colemen. There were numerous ones last year, but made the solid pick of Tyron Smith. It should either be him or Devon Still here.
Philadelphia (8-8)-Micheal Floyd
DeSean Jackson is going to be in a different uniform next year. He is good, but too Cocky for Andy Reid's liking, and too much attitude. With him leaving they will need another number one potential target to go to and it is this guy. He had some problems at Nortre Dame but he has over came them. Would be a solid pick for Philly.
New York Jets (8-8)-Courtney Upshaw
Even with Wilkerson and Maybin the pass rush still needs improvement. This could be the final piece on that defensive line. A solid group just needs a little bit more youth and rush. Also worth mentioning their best rushing linebacker had an injury that might keep him out some of next year.
Cincinnati - from Oakland (8-8)-Alfonzo Dennard
Cornerback will be the pick here no matter what. Either Jenkins or Dennard. Both great talents. I think Cincy will pass on Jenkins due to legal troubles and such. Either way though both will help the team.
San Diego (8-8)- David DeCastro
The Chargers O-Line needs tons of help. Ageing is going to hurt them and this would be the most solid pick for the team.
Chicago (8-8)-Devon Still
Bears need help at Defensive End with free agency coming and players ageing. I like the pick for them if Ingram is off the table.
Tennessee (9-7)-Cordy Glenn
You know it's bad if the Head Coach blames the linemen for bad running back play, and that's exactly what Muschamp did. It'd be a surprise if he didn't start working on the line early in the draft.
Denver* (8-8)-Janoris Jenkins
Champ Bailey won't be here forever. It is time to start looking towards the future. A top 15 talent he falls to Denver due to issues in his career at Florida with authorities.
Cincinnati* (9-7)-Mark Barron
Kind of a reach here, but a well needed one. Reggie Nelson isn't going to get the job done and might as well work on the secondary while your at it.
Cleveland - from Atlanta* (10-6)-Kendall Wright
The Browns need one more Wide Receiver in my opinion that can help this offense and rookie Robert Griffin III succeed. Plus it always help to pair a rookie Wide out with a rookie Signal Caller
Detroit* (10-6)-Chase Minnifield
They can either go offensive line or Corner here, and obviously I think they'll go corner. The best one on the board still can really help a secondary that seemed to Struggle.(Matt Flynn 6TDS?!?!)
New York Giants* (9-7)- Lamar Miller
Honestly, one of my favorite prospects in the draft gets drafted to a good place. Jacobs probably isn't coming back and Ahmad Bradshaw is not a feature back as he has shown numerous times.
Houston* (10-6)- Nick Toon
Big reach, I understand. Houston needs another target outside of Andre Johnson and this is their best bet by far in my opinion. With Wilson at Wisconsin he dominated, he could take some attention off one of the best wide outs in the league.
Pittsburgh* (12-4)- Dont'a Hightower
Best defensive player available in my opinion. This linebackers group is aging quick and it wouldn't make sense for the front office to go out and add a young stud to it.
San Francisco* (13-3)- Zach Brown
San Francisco has good young linebacker crop in Aldon Smith and co. Brown could make it better, he is the best at his position available and with Hightower gone you either consider him or Perry here.
Baltimore* (12-4)- Vontaze Burfict
Baltimore finally finds a solid replacement for Ray Lewis. We saw the weight start to pile up on him this year missing games and such so they need to go out and find someone for the long term.
New England - from New Orleans* (13-3)-Jerel Worthy
Terrible defense, no brainier both their firsts should be used on solid linemen and Pass Rushers.
New England* (13-3)-Fletcher Cox
See above
Green Bay* (15-1)-Whitney Mercilus
Combo end/linebacker is just what they need on this struggling defensive squad. Mercilus can really help the pass rush in either a 3-4 or 4-3 defense.
Atlanta -> Cleveland: Julio Jones
New Orleans -> New England: Mark Ingram
Oakland -> Cincinnati: Carson Palmer
