ESPN President Demands Less Tebow Coverage

One thing to keep in mind is as sports fans, you will never be the target audience for ESPN. That sounds insane, I know, but think about it. Diehard sports fans will always check for ESPN, NFL/MLB Network, NBA TV, etc. They have that guaranteed static demographic. They don't have to cater to us. So like any TV station, they're out for ratings. What gets ratings? Gossip, entertainment, polarizing figures, controversy, sex, etc. etc. Basically, TMZ material. That's why ESPN/NFL Network and all these sports channels will never go back to the sports nerd haven they were created as. It sucks, but this is why it is the way it is.

Yeah actually I'd like the Jags to trade back too, hopefully get Buffalo to trade up to draft a QB or something.

While I stand opposed to most liberal views (other than social views, which is why I'm a Libertarian), I agree with this. Too many liberals and conservatives resort to name calling when someone doesn't agree with them politically. It's way too emotional for them I guess that they have to resort to it, and it's always a crutch for them in arguments (like for example when someone argues illegal immigration and a liberal might fire back that the other is racist instead of debating with actual legitimate points.) Ditto with some older conservatives with the whole, "entitled youth" fall back name calling.

Which Rookie Would You Want to Build Your Franchise Around?

I wasn't referring to who you voted for — which I wouldn't of known anyways because I can't see who voted for who — I was referring to that other thread where you kept saying it made no sense that I ranked Luck ahead of RGIII for this year. I would state why I thought that, then you'd go on trying to get me to change my mind or admit I was wrong. I understand debate and all, but I'm not here to convert people to my opinions, just to express them. I wouldn't say Luck's play is overrated really. You're saying that (I assume), due to his stats (Comp. % and INTs), and how those INTs were ugly ones. But when you have 6 game winning drives in your first 13 games, that's impressive. Hence the hype train (never said you should feed it either, I was merely humored by you trying to prove RGIII has less to work with on offense again.) Now if you prefer RGIII's skill set, and think he's performing better, and you're not saying RGIII is the better player, or that Luck isn't the better player... who do you think is the better player? You voted for Luck, yet prefer RGIII, yet don't commit to either being the player and bring counter arguments to people who think Luck is the better player... pretty strange. But whatevs, do you my friend, I love me some RGIII too. He's made me some money as well these past two weeks.

Which Rookie Would You Want to Build Your Franchise Around?

Donovan is hellbent on proving to people RGIII > Luck. They're both legit dude. RGIII definitely scares you though with his durability issues. He had them in college too. What a playmaker though. I still like Luck in the long run. Having 9 wins, with that team, is astounding honestly. He has how many comeback victories already now? He makes mistakes for sure, but he also makes plays. All you can ask of a rookie. Luck reminds me of Elway honestly. With a slightly weaker arm. Same mobility, composure (Elway was known for comebacks), sees the field, keeps eyes down the field when scrambling. Great potential with Luck. God dammit. Why is life as a Jags fan so hard? Colts have Manning for 13 years, now we have to deal with Luck for another 13 or so? Not fair. But seriously... The Colts actually have a WR named Brazzers?

10-5 going into MNF. God damn Bills choking at the end.

    Lions @ Packers

Happy for Dujuan Harris. Ex-Jaguar. Seems like all Jags that go to different teams flourish (except Mike Thomas of course ) Harris had potential. Good to see him make a play in a meaningful game.

    Jets @ Jags

Dude... Blaine is bad too. Both these guys are career backups. But to their credit their OL is horrible at pass protection. Bradfield is horrible. Eben Britton might be one of the worst OG in the league. He got destroyed today, just like when he did against Geno Atkins and got benched against Cincy. The guy is done, I know he only played because Brewster was hurt, but he's flat out bad. He's on Guy Whimper status right now. Matter fact, they're better off just switching Guy Whimper to TE at this point, he can catch and run better than he can block. Jags are a complete mess, blow it all up, players, coaches, front office, we only have a hand full of legit starters. Eugene Monroe, MJD, Cecil Shorts, Marcedes Lewis, Uche Nwaneri, Greg Jones, Montell Owens (mostly special teams but solid backup RB), Blackmon has potential, Paul Posluszny, Derek Cox, Dwight Lowery, Dawan Landry, Mike Harris has potential. That's it. The rest are mediocre to terrible. Most of those starters I listed are average too, only MJD, Monroe, and Lowery are close to being the best at their position. Cox is close too, but his injury problems are getting very old. Those are the only salvageable players. Jags might have the worst defensive line in the league. The losses don't even hurt me anymore, the team is so bad I'm just waiting for next year and hoping the new GM is actually competent and he gets Khan to fire Mularkey for a coach who actually knows how to adjust after halftime. I know Mularkey has had Butkus for talent to work with, and an insane amount of injuries, but even Falcons' fans know he lacks the ability to adjust in-game. A crucial component to winning games IMO. Jags constantly have kept games close at halftime this year, then got completely blown out of the water in the second half. That's on coaching adjustments.

Jags need to switch to a 3-4. The draft is stocked with 3-4 OLB pass rushers.

    A Football Life: Barry Sanders

Props man, not sure if I DVR'd this or not. I wanted to see it, so you just gave me a plan B if they didn't work out. Watching Sanders growing up was jaw dropping.

5 ways to enjoy the play offs if your team sucks

Since my Jags are usually out of it by now, I just gamble on games, makes it much more interesting.

Bob Costas and His Halftime Anti-Gun Rhetoric

Exactly. And Amen to Jerome Harrison. I'm not even a gun owner either guys, I've never owned a gun, and have shot them only a handful of times. So i'm not completely biased here, I'm no gun lover/enthusiast. I just got by logic, facts, and judge accordingly. Guns don't create crime. They prevent it far more than they indulge it. Can they be used wrongly? Of course, but so can any a pen, a fork, a 2x4. This is just a typical over emotional reaction after a horrible tragedy. It's like giving up your right of privacy because some terrorist attacked your country.

Schefter: NFL views Matt Barkley as late 1st-round pick

Oh my god, if Matt Barkley goes #1 I might never stop laughing, ever. Which would make life pretty awkward from that point. Geno, Tyler Wilson, Glennon, Dysert > Barkley.

Bob Costas and His Halftime Anti-Gun Rhetoric

Yeah, crimes of passion tend to be the most lethal — and least thought out. Emotions gone haywire. Again, back to my emotional IQ point. In my opinion America has slowly drifted into a more feminine society, more emotional. Hence the politically correct movement. Feelings come first nowadays. Anti-bullying outcries, rampant forced apologies for mere words instead of actions like it used to be. Some call it "progress" or a "progressive society", while I disagree, it's just merely more feminine and emotionally driven. Whereas in the past we were more masculine of a society, more logic driven yet bull headed. I'm not saying either is the right way, like with a family, an equal amount of both is needed. View America as a macrocosm of the predominant family structure. Single mother households are at record numbers, hence, America is being raised by women. The latest generations are more feminine (I'm 26, so I'm included, although I obviously am aware of this and thus still have a significant amount of logic and rationale in me to be able to see this.) It only makes sense that we're becoming more and more feminine of a society, more in touch with emotions and feelings. For better and as in this case — worse.

Bob Costas and His Halftime Anti-Gun Rhetoric

With me, I don't get caught up in the whole liberal/conservative war, politics, etc. I understand it all, but it seems very trivial to fight for (kind of like the War on Drugs.) Of all those groups, I side Libertarian, but I'm not going to preach and slander any other theory because people are who they are, and believe what they believe. I'm more of the thought that no one knows better than the person themselves, what is best for them. If they don't? Then that's their fault, their loss, and they'll die off. One less unintelligent person on the planet. That's why personally I don't even believe in Democracy. I think it's a flawed system. I think it awards the mediocre — which is the majority — and harms the intelligent — the minority. You know, the whole rule of the mob dynamic. That's why with everything I look towards nature, not in the sense of the environment or some hippie green peace deal. But in terms of survival of the fittest, in terms of balance, in terms of how this whole system (Earth) was made to function. But to get caught up in human politics is a young mans game (which is ironic since I'm only 26.) But even now I can see how trivial it is. There's no finish line. Even total domination comes crumbling down and gets replaced. I'll just find ways to enjoy my stay. I just laugh now at people who are passionate about politics, it's cute.

Bob Costas and His Halftime Anti-Gun Rhetoric

The problem isn't the guns, it's the emotional make up of most of the country. Meaning we are entirely too emotional and irrational. Fear is paramount to this society. Regardless, I don't value looking to fix everything like most people do. I'm a nature rules kind of guy. Nature always sorts itself out. Trying to play nature/god/whatever you want to call it by "fixing" everything never works in the end. I also believe morals are subjective, and not black and white. Most people go nuts when I say this, because we live in a very judgmental, quasi-righteous society. No one's a saint, most know nothing about which they speak, yet most act as if they are/do. All civilization did was make sure we live longer and reproduce more, otherwise, it's a complete failure, and is always our own undoing.
