  1. Kids got "Jim Harbaugh angry eyes" on the field. A few of us Colts fans have recognized this in comparison to the old Captain Comeback here.

Which is funny since off the field he is so calm and polite.

  2. I would not mind some opinions on him from fans of other teams.

Me? I love the guy! I find him extremely likable as a person, smart and he has a good head on his shoulders. I said before last season started I was not going to be too fussy when it came to stats from him or the overall team. I wanted to see intangibles/leadership and signs he was the right "one." And I believe I saw what I wanted.

I think pressure is mounting a bit earlier then expected though which concerns me at times since this is supposed to be a rebuilding phase, but it's normal for this club where making the playoffs is supposed to be a given. Going to be a tough division ride though with Houston being Houston, the Titans looking to improve and the Jaguars are often sneaky vs. the Colts.

A new OC again this year, but one Andrew knows well. I am not sure what to expect, his interception numbers SHOULD go down. Pass protection was often poor last year, the run game was inconsistent and while I will miss Bruce Arians I preferred him as a HC/motivator over an OC. I did not often love his play calling, too boom or bust and I did not feel we had a good enough o line for the big plays he prefers. Sometimes I felt it was a miracle we survived the year without a Luck injury. The kid is sturdy as a rock....

Personally, I don't think Andrew will have a sophomore slump even though some expect it. I think his numbers WILL go up. He was sacked/hit a lot last year and threw a lot of interceptions. I think when people speak of a slump they are thinking more of a team slump/win total slump. And that is a fair argument since matching/exceeding 11-5 will be difficult.

This team has a lot to clean up on but the talent/potential is there. I think the world of Pagano too and pray he stays healthy and cancer free.

Last season was ridiculous and exciting to watch. So many comebacks, clutch moments and emotional rides. It's going to be tough to match in 2013. We need to improve as a road team too, at home I like our chances to overcome a lot but we showed a lot of inexperience/shakiness on the road.

Needless to say I feel so fortunate at times. Going from Manning for all those years to the potential of Andrew Luck. Not comparing the two, you can't...for me they are too different and it's not fair to Andrew yet. Just saying I am pretty pleased we seem to hit on another good QB who hopefully will be here for many many years.

  3. I went with Mike McCoy since I am always waiting for the Chargers to get going again. And without Norv finally maybe it can?

And who knows, Rivers is still an extremely talented QB. Maybe he can get him going in the right direction again.

I also like the pick up in SD of Freeney (great guy). I was not surprised the Colts let him go either since Indy is very stingy with aging veterans on the roster now too as they are still building this new era..

Besides, the AFC West needs a challenger for the Broncos. It's too boring. Many think it will be KC but I am not jumping on that wagon right now. :p

I would love for it to be Arians in Arizona. Excellent motivator and I prefer him as a HC over OC but the competition in the NFC West is going to be brutal for him. :yep:

  4. I have to say Joe Flacco.

He was bought and paid for on the potential of what he could be in the regular season. If he wants to keep every dime of that obscene fortune he has to produce consistently in the regular season. The caveat is if he limps in and has another historic post season than it will again quell the masses.

If not though, I am not sure the media can rag on him much more but if there is a chance they will and he will earn the ire of his fanbase.

Good post. I forgot about Mr. SB MVP and his big contract. :grinno:

Yeah I want to see if he can become consistent as well. I ususually feel every offseason that the Ravens will end up in the playoffs though regardless. Too well coached and well run.

Yep, what a postseason by Flacco though. I was damn impressed.

  5. And so it begins. The poor Pacers now go against the Heat....AND Stern.

    Fingers crossed.....

I am not expecting to win the series but I would go insane if the Pacers won it. Just try to steal one in Miami in the first two please.

I try not to get too emotionally involved with the NBA but at least the Pacers had a great showing this year. They have regained a lot of fans back. :corn:

  6. The more I think about it why not Eli Manning? With that fanbase, that city, that media and a home Super Bowl? :corn:

You know it's only a matter of time before they start hyping up a Peyton/Eli Super Bowl which never happens even though I have been hearing about it since Eli came in the league. Or Brady vs. Eli.......the rematch part 3. Sigh. Manning vs. Manning or New York vs. Boston in NY/NJ!!!!

Besides, I swear the Giants almost always start 6-2. I never looked it up but a Giants fan once told me this. After 6-2 it's just a matter of them either making the playoffs or falling apart.

Oh and Romo, poor bastard. I actually think he is underrated but he has the worst luck I have EVER seen. :yep:

  7. I agree. If any QB were to win it, Rodgers was the guy. To perform and put up the numbers that he did being the most sacked QB in the league is boss. Rodgers got lost in all the Manning hype who don't get me wrong, deserved to be in the conversation but not over Rodgers.

I'm glad that A.P won it too. A.P is a fucking machine. J.J Watt had a phenomenal season as well; the defensive equivalent to A.P's season. A lot of people don't recognize the magnitude and appreciate greatness of Watt's season. I was fine with A.P or Watt winning it even though I was rooting for A.P.

Rodgers is a maniac on the field. I just hope that pathetic D gets going or else they are going to keep wasting his prime years. Oh and the run game......well they took a RB in the second round, maybe he will help. Still will the crap o line improve?

    Sigh.

When the Colts came back and beat the Packers last season a few Colts defensive players said that they did not respect the Packers run game and knew all they had to do was get after Rodgers.

Watt is another maniac. Andrew Luck's worst nightmare too sadly. If I could take any guy in the league on another team and put him on the Colts then Watt is my choice. Fat chance though they give MVP to a defensive guy again! You knew it had to be offense!!!! :p

Manning and Brady were also both VERY good last year but they are always in the mix so it gets boring after a while. Besides, both have had bigger wow years, we all know this.

  8. Well I personally don't like the MVP award voting....too popularity based. It's like the media decides on a few prospects by the halfway point in the season and hype them up to the heavens until the final week. And seriously this is coming from a Colts fan who saw their old QB win 4 of these things.....they are NICE but they do not compare to PLAYOFF WINS.

However, I did strongly argue for Rodgers vs. Colts fans last year if they had to give it to a QB. I just felt with the shaky o line/the shaky run game/the shaky D...that team was toast without Aaron. Much like a few of our old Colts teams with Manning in years he got MVP consideration or won.

Besides, I have seen much better from Peyton in the past which makes me feel almost like I am criticizing him now post injury. However, he was more the comeback player to me....the feel good story return from injury/missed season.

I was fine with Peterson getting it too. He was a beast last season and I liked seeing a non QB win it for a change again.

You can also argue the Texans D would be trashed without Watt lol.

Many threw Brady in the discussion as well.

I did not think anyone was running away with the award all last season either.

  9. Ugh, I go back and forth on this one. You never know if with Payton back they go on a tear, grab the first seed and end up in the SB but will it just be on offense if they do improve? That D was absolute puke last season......

    Competitive division. Tough to say.

But, I really don't want to pick the Falcons either since nobody repeats in the South.

So I am down to the Panthers and Bucs. :ghey:

  10. The way I see it, they can't get much worst than last year; historically the worst defense in nfl history. Not having your coach present is going to take something from the team in general; not just a particular unit. I think having Payton back will make the team more sound. Saints are convering to a 3-4 and they picked up Rob Ryan who's defensive resume is mediocre at best. They went 8-8 with the historically worst defense in Nfl history and without their head coach which isn't bad at all when you think about it; especially having the worst defense ever. I can see them getting back into contention this year.

This is what makes me hesitant on the Saints. I do not like Rob Ryan. The D could be the downfall of New Orleans again but their offense can sometimes carry them as usual for most games in the regular season. Does not mean they will make it to the SB though with that D or even to the division title.

I think I am trying too hard here to find someone new in the South. Panthers? Bucs? Can either surprise?

  11. The Falcons are where the Eagles were not too long ago; superbowl or bust. The Falcons have everything they need to make a run for a Lombardi. Talented teams like they have don't last forever.

Oh btw did your new HC get rid of something called "Fast Food Friday"? I swear I heard that.

If true your team is instantly better without all that garbage in their bodies!! :grinno:

  12. :yep:

Ryan couldn't ask for much more talent around him. Falcons need to make it to the Big Game.

Good comparision, they are similar, and I agree that Manning is/was better than Ryan is. Both teams had/have very explosive offenses with a lot of playmakers, are/were consistently contenders, etc. Peyton was able to bring a Lombardi to Indy. Now, Ryan has to do the same for the Falcons.

And yea, the NFC South literally changes division winners every year, it's ridiculous lol. I could honestly see any team winning it this year, it's a very competative division.

For me a lot hinges on what the Saints offer this year with Payton back. And if that defense improves since it was a joke last year.

  13. I don't know. I think Falcons fans are getting tired of just making it to the playoffs and not getting anything out of it. The Falcons have a lot of talent and if they play like they do in the regular season, they can be a Superbowl team. I think Ryan will continue to be under the spotlight until he leads them to the Superbowl; He might want to do that soon seeing as Gonzo will be retiring soon.

I agree with all of your other points though. Welcome to the boards, BTW.

You could be right, I really don't know the general feeling with the Falcons fanbase but it sounds a bit like what we went through with Manning before we finally got a Super Bowl win. Getting your hopes up every regular season. Granted I don't think Ryan is as good as Manning in his prime but I have known several Colts fans compare the Falcons to the early Colts. And we crossed paths with the Pats prime Super Bowl runs too so it was even tougher.

And heck does anyone in the NFC South even repeat as division winners every year? lol I will probably pick one of the other 3 to win the South this year.

  14. -Peyton-For the playoffs. Super Bowl or bust and I actually kinda hate that he was put in this situation but it is what it is. He is 37 years old now and the clock is ticking loudly. And I have had my doubts ever since he went to Denver that he would ring there....

-I think many might quiet down a bit on the Matt Ryan thing since the Falcons managed to get a playoff win.

-I am not sure I feel much over the Sanchez thing, nobody seems to expect much from him anymore either.

-I think there is a lot of pressure on young Kaepernick too. The 49ers are not just expected to be a playoff team. They are expected to WIN the SUPER BOWL.

-If Michael Vick manages to stay healthy for most of the season I think a parade is in order lol.

-Romo? When isn't there pressure on that poor guy haha.

-I think there will be pressure on ELI Manning this year too. Home Super Bowl and Giants fans might have let last year pass since they were still drunk off the Super Bowl win but maybe not this season.

    But, who doesn't have pressure?
