He's decent, stout against the run, high motor, but I don't think he will do much from a pass rush perspective unless he has someone dynamic on the other side.
Pretty good signing for the Colts, especially at that price tag.
Thanks. We usually sign players who are on Geritol drip...so getting a player with some miles still ahead is great. Hopefully we'll get a win against you guys next year.

Sun gotta shine on a different dogs butt...sometime. That said, I disagree. As bad as our defense was, he got those sacks inspite of being our best pressure. Perhaps you just want to undervalue a player your team didn't sign?
Regardless, 11 sacks in the NFL is not an accident...it if freaking really hard to accomplish. I'll be elated if one of our players next season records 11.

Buy/Sell.....
Colts get at least 9 wins next season
Colts go .500 against the Texans
Titans beat the Colts in Indy

I see a lot of posters who are posting elsewhere. Hope more Colt fans show up. I like it here. It's not full of a bunch of whiny ass bitchy Colt fans like there are at .com
Sheesh that place has become a cesspool of trolling and the current moderation has zero spine to follow its own guidelines.

Erik Walden wasn't enough for you? lol
Walden did quite well. He earned all he was paid. The mantra was to get younger. I see Walden being let go as kind of what the Pats do, right when a player is going to begin to slide. Time will tell if he was let go too soon.
Do appreciate the lend!

Well, there is no where to go but up for the Colt defense. End of the year roster at the LB position with players having more than 8 starts averaged 236 pounds. We have just signed...
B. Mingo - NE - 241
J. Sheard - NE - 254
J. Simon - Houston - 257
Have to see it on the field, but maybe we won't get run over like a diesel powered combine when facing a big package.

SImon, a former Texan and younger player with his best play ahead. He was behind a couple of pretty good players. Nice addition.
Go Ballard......I like what I am seeing.

Yesss! First big move by the GM says, Do your job well and we will pay to keep you.
Good vibe to send to the Colts locker room.

Another fun draft contest I used when modding another board was to chose your best guess at the top 10 picks regardless. Highest number actually taken, wins. Tie breaker is the higher that your picks were taken.

You didn't exactly answer the question. Why you say only one or two guys from this class at CB can be starters immediately?
Sorry for the delayed response, been away for a bit. I was going by earlier information, and secondary prospects do look quite deep. You are correct. I think it was nj.com had 6 db's in the first 14 picks or some crazy prediction. However, I think CB is a pretty hard position to become a starter in year one. Colts now have let Adams go without resigning. He is getting older, but our depth is horrid, and Davis is coming off an injury filled season. Tabor looked a little slow at the combine, and the kid from Washington is pretty light in the torso. I don't see any way that we dont take a CB with one of the first two picks. For the love of god, I hope they get Butler in at S.
-
But to further the discussion about corners....the Colts have only taken a first round CB one time since 1985. That was Marlin Jackson...who made a huge int to get us past the Pats in 2006 to the SB.
I think that has long been ignored.
-
Also, CB is the deepest its been in years. Like 20 CBs could go in first four rounds.
Well, 21, 17, 18 over the last three years makes 20 actually average,,,,if 20 are selected. But to clarify, my definition was intended to indicate players near ready to start. I see 1...maybe 2 starters. The rest will likely need some time. The Colts need a starter if they go CB at 14/15. Tabor will be gone. Hope that clarifies.

I think I can do better than Grigson. I'll cover my Colts

Interesting stat, Eli's defense played on fire for most of those playoff wins despite ranking low in the regular season. Peyton rode his defense to both his rings along with having some of the greatest support casts offensively of all time in Indy and some damn good receivers in Denver. This stat makes Marino, Fouts, Brees and Luck look a lot better. Good stuff though.
If that is what you took from the chart? Are you in politics? You didn't see the obvious stats of Brady, Bradshaw and Montana?
Lol. Just really found your response a surprise.

This should bring about some lively debate.

According to popular opinion...this draft is deep at RB and pressure. The Colts have depth at RB to an extent, but we are possible in the worst position in the NFL when it comes to pressure. Our only sacks were from players who are now FA's, retired, or wayyyy past their peak. On another significant note, we simply cannot stay healthy at the CB position, which is NOT deep in the draft. At 14/15, it would be hard to pass on Cook if he were available, but CB is not a good value at that pick unless Tabor was still there, which just isn't freaking happening.
If Barnette or Charlton is there, I say go for it. Please for the love of god, no S, WR, or TE.
My choices at 14/15 if available are :
Tabor
Cook
Charlton
Barnette
or trade down. We need more picks. We even need a punter for shits sake.

God how I wish the Colts had a 10 year stud on the o-line like Mangold.

Hard to say with DA. I could see him really becoming a player for NE. However, his price...coupled with his inability to make the big catch when needed, pushed the team to sign Doyle, and probably use a later rounder for depth or pick up a cut player from a TE rich squad. Swoope shows promise, but there is now way we go into the season with just those two.
