It's because Montana's nickname is "Big Sky Country" So I've literally seen 50 since I looked at that name. Ha I feel ya, I can just see someone leaving off the photography part and going holy shit.

Ok so as you guys remember I picked all of your brains as far as names. Well I've kinda narrowed it down. Peakphotography.com cost $2,588 so I'm not buying that shit. But .co and .org is available (.co is $25 a year, .org is $10 a year) This will be the logo (words changed accordingly)

Yikes, I just googled snowcap (without photography) and found out it's a kind of weed. I'd prefer not to associate my photography with weed :/

Which site are you referring to? Because peakphotography.com just comes up as a forsale page. I'm actually pretty damn good at SEO so I know if I do decide to use peakphotography I can beat out all of the other pages for google rank.

that's kinda what I've got it narrowed down to in my own mind as well. While leaning towards peakphotography.org. I did Search Engine Optimization (SEO) this summer as a job and it's all about getting your site ranked higher in google and all. Here are a few reasons why I've canceled out the others: Peakphotography.co - .co is expensive, but most importantly it can be confusing. People are so used to .com that they may forget it's only .co and type in .com. mtnpeakphotography.com- because my business is mostly spoken word it may be difficult to explain that mountain is abbreviated. You'd tell people to go to mountain peak photography, but would have to explain to them that it's mtn. bigsky-photography.com- once again it's spoken word, so having dashes can be confusing as well. Also, every business in Montana is named BigSky____. I saw 5 businesses named Big Sky whatever on a three mile stretch in my town. So it lacks originality.

    Photography: Winter in Yellowstone

I know it wasn't long ago that I posted my last one, but I figured I'd post up my day of snowshoeing in Yellowstone. I didn't get nearly all the shots I wanted, or even near the shots I got when I did my series of Fall in Yellowstone. It was because I was with my family and girl and of course they don't want to stop every ten feet for me to take a picture.... And then this last one isn't a good shot at all, but I couldn't resist posting the hilariousness that is me catching a Coyote taking a shit. He was a good 400 Yards from the road and I spotted him while we were driving and I knew immediately what he was doing. As always, favorites/comments/suggestions/critiques/nudes Sweetness..out

Thanks bro, that's Roosevelt Arch and it marks the North Entrance to the park. Heres a view from the other side, taken as a part of my series "Fall in Yellowstone" which now I can't remember if I ever posted here. But those photos blow these out of the water. I'll look and see if I ever posted it and if I didn't I'll post it.

These were taken in Yellowstone National Park, these particular ones were mostly in Wyoming, but I popped into the Montana side a few times.

    Photography:Week 2

Ok here is the second round of winter break shots. I have enough to form a set and I'll be getting so many this weekend at Yellowstone that it will be a thread of its own. and then there's this shot, which is mega hipsterish looking, and I hate those bastards. But it wasn't intentional and there was no touching up afterwards. But thought it might make a nice stock or something As always, comments/critiques/suggestions/favorites Thanks bros

Hell ya man, I love it out here. I've always been an outdoor person, but it's really been in the last three years that I'd rather be out in the backwoods than anywhere else in the woods. I did once, but it was before I had really started shooting portraits. I need to go back and shoot some portraits in there. The whole thing is filled with asbestos though so I shouldn't stay in there too long haha. Like this was the shot I took a while back This is one I tok

What gifts are you giving this year?

Well, Dad: a family photo shoot with framed prints, gorilla pod lantern, pistol air soft gun (all he does is talk about how he wants a new pistol so I'm screwing with him.... My fam actually got him a real one but we'll make him sweat. Stepmom: custom book cover for kindle fire, framed print Sister: framed print, trekking pole with fold out legs to make it a tripod Real mom: framed and matted print of her, my sister, and I we took a few weeks ago. Girlfriend: custom book cover for iPad, purple montana state under armor fleece, big wooden sign I don't have a lot of money this Christmas so I couldn't do too much, thats why a lot of people are getting framed prints that I took. Each one is worth like $75, but only costs me like $30 to make.

    Photography: Week 1 Winter Break

Alright, been a while since I've made a big post. But now I'm winter break so I've shot everyday since I've been on break... figured I'd post up what I've got so far for you guys. Here we go: now night shooting, it's a little tougher now that I'm back in a bigger city. As my college town it's easy to get away from a small town... my home town is a little tougher, lot of light pollution. As always, comments/suggestions/favorites appreciated Cheers, Cha boy

Thanks dude, and I'm sure I could document everything in and around it through pictures for you. It's on my dad's property so I'm always out there shooting. That place is awesome, we found a newspaper in there from like 1904. Thanks dude, and that's all one photo ha, that's why I love Montana. This is actually just off the interstate, I took a quick exit and was shooting within minutes from the highway. The train tracks are facing west towards one set of mountains, and the barn is facing North towards another set of mountains.

    Star Stacking Photography

ha ya 20F, and that's actually pretty warm for up there. It's 20 minutes from my house but it's a good couple thousand feet elevation gain. It's around 7,000 ft (or around 2,100 meters for you aussies) elevation where I shoot. It's usually anywhere from 20 above zero to 20 below when I go to do night shooting. Sometimes it can get much colder. I really want to go night shooting tonight as there is a huge meteor shower tonight...but I have a big final tomorrow

    Star Stacking Photography

So I'm getting to a point where I'm only sharing one at a time with you guys, it's just because I'm not doing assignments anymore. So I now go to a location I want to shoot to get one particular shot. Well this is by far my best night shot I've ever gotten. A combination of my new fisheye and a technique called "star stacking". Basically this particular shot is actually 100 individual shots of 25 seconds each...layered later. This allows for a much longer period of exposure without losing image quality and darkness. anyway, I really hope you guys enjoy this one, as not only is my favorite night shot... but I think it's my favorite shot of mine, period. Keep a look out in the next week for when I finish my two time lapse videos I also shot last night during the full moon. Cheers

    Star Stacking Photography

The brightness of the foreground isn't actually coming from the stacking, but rather the full moon that was out last night (it's the reason I almost always refuse to do my night shooting under a full moon). I decided to mix this one up because all of my night shots to this day have been dark and on a no moon night. I do plan to go back to star stack on a dark night though. Here are some examples of my darker night shots: http://www.andyaustinphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/IMG_8005-2.jpg http://www.andyaustinphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/IMG_5305.jpg http://www.andyaustinphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/IMG_7999.jpg http://www.andyaustinphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/11/IMG_8021.jpg The point of stacking is to actually keep the darkness of the sky, because the star trails up there were done on 15 minute exposures alone, and the sky begins to become bright. On a normal night stacking will Appreciate the input brotha Ya it's nuts, if only our eyes could see it. I've seen exposures of the North Star done all night, and the circles are nuts, and colorful too usually. I plan to do that next summer (I was out shooting three hours last night and at 20 degree tempertures my camera ended up freezing.

    Star Stacking Photography

This was taken in Montana, about 20 minutes from my house. The full moon (the flares off the side) added the lighting for the foreground. This is in a Canyon where I love doing my night shots at, it's far enough away from my little 30,000 person town to not have a lot of "light pollution" The stacking is actually the easy part, I let my camera continulously shoot for 45 minutes on a tripod. Then there is this awesome computer program that stacks them for me. Before that you would have to stack each layer individually in photoshop

    Photography: fisheye stadium

While my site has been temporarily shut down, I'm still shooting. Well I finally splurged and bought myself a fisheye lens, I mainly bought it for my night photography.... but I can see how I can use it for lots of shots. This is my stadium, the fisheye really works because you really can't tell it's distorted because the stadium curves anyway. Probably my favorite shot of the stadium I've ever taken, but I want to hear your thoughts
  23. sweetness34

    Photography: fisheye stadium

Ya I've always been a panoramic shooter, I love em. Which is a main reason I bought the fisheye, it reduces a panorama into a single size image. Thanks guys

    The NCAA screwed me

I agree, it seems off. But I'm not going to fight the NCAA, it's easier just to change it. It's screwed up because I'm a non scholarship athlete, and well with football there is no way I could possibly hold down a real job to make money on the side I feel ya, thanks for the input.. I thought of a new one possibly, Maybe bigskylandscapes.com... Montana is known as Big Sky Country for those of you who don't know, and most of my shots will be here.
