    SENIOR BOWL!! :D

Dion's got a shoulder/labrum tear. So, not surprising he isn't attending. Was expected. Desmond Trufant has flashed a lot, as has the Poyer kid out of Oregon St. Leon McFadden is interesting at CB too, very undersized though. Actually all the CBs are undersized at the Senior Bowl. But those three have all the talent and skills in the world, I like what I see. This CB class is DEEP this year. If you're a CB starved team like my Jaguars, you have lots of middle round options at CB. Datone Jones has looked VERY impressive so far. I liked him prior to the Senior Bowl, and and if you look in the "Overrated/Underrated" thread he's listed as one of my underrated guys. Not to pat myself on the back or anything :grinno: Add Quinton Patton as one of my underrated guys impressing so far at practices too, same with Alex Okafor. Although Phillip Thomas hasn't been that impressive and I had him as underrated. I didn't put Dysert as underrated, but only because others already did, I do believe he's underrated but he's disappointed too and I had Landry Jones as overrated and he's been real solid so far in practices. But that's when you have to step back and realize this is just Senior Bowl practices, this isn't live bullets and you can't hang your hat on these performances. They mean something, but live game tape is still the best evaluation. A whole body of work. We'll get a better look in the actual Senior Bowl, but still, grain of salt. Most NFL teams have 90% of their decisions already made prior to these all star games and combines. There has to be some big time unexpected happenings for them to change on a guy. I feel the same way. I swore I had Wheaton as underrated in that thread too, but I guess not, I think I just mentioned him to someone who said he wanted their team to draft a WR, and I listed him as one of my favorites out of the position. He's been good so far too.

    UPDATE: Campin' not sad

Did you check out that article I posted? It's some detailed stuff, but very interesting in my opinion and shows you what kind of flexibility and different looks Bradley's defense can give an offense.

    UPDATE: Campin' not sad

Posted that on Jan. 19th in the "Gus Bradley hired" thread. I say some of the same stuff, but I expanded a little bit on who might be playing the Leo and some other stuff. See, I knew before your thread Vin! :grinno:

    UPDATE: Campin' not sad

Actually not sad. If it wasn't Gus Bradley's 4-3, then yeah, I'd be sad. But Bradley works a hybrid, which can use 3-4 principles. Most important, is that he already stated he's gonna utilize the Leo position, which means the 4-3 will be the same defense Carroll instilled on him in Seattle. The same defense Carroll worked in San Fran. An interesting and detailed breakdown of this defense is shown here: http://www.bigcatcountry.com/2013/1/19/3890928/gus-bradley-defense-leo-position This means, they can still move guys around like I wanted to fit their strengths. Alualu is not unlike Seattle DT Red Bryant. A bust as a regular DT, Alualu can be moved outside still in the 4-3 Leo package. There 3 DTs are on the line with one pass rush specialist at Leo. Which is basically a 3-4 with the rush backer hand on the ground, or standing up like they do with the Leo. It's constantly changing, which is great, keep the offense guessing. Or they can have two Leo's like how Seattle had both Irvin and Clemons on opposite sides at the same time. Many ways to mix and make offenses accountable. Once Bradley was hired I already knew it was staying 4-3. Babich isn't anything but DC by name. He's gonna be running Bradley's system. He's basically the manager of the system, not the creator.

Opinions are defined too much by "big moments"

Thanatos and Donovan pretty much ended this thread a plethora of posts ago. Mix both of theirs and you have the most level, objective outlook of this subject.

    Glasses or Contacts?

I use contacts for outside of the house, and glasses for inside the house. I don't wear the contacts too long. If I do they start to irritate my eyes. My eyes are little bitches, way too sensitive. That's why as soon as I get home I usually take them out and pop on the glasses. I don't like wearing glasses out because they just feel... in the way. I guess I could get used to it, but I don't like being restricted because something might fall off and break, etc. Then again I've never had a sturdy pair of glasses, they've always been frameless and fragile. The ones I'm wearing right now actually are broke. One of the frame temples or "arms" that sit on your ears broke and is gone, so I only have one now and I'm just too lazy to go buy a new pair or get it fixed for now. But that's what I'd recommend. Both, because you can't wear contacts all the time, and when at home and you want to see the TV from afar, or work on the computer without destroying your eye sight further, glasses are best.

Jags have found their OC and DC

Jedd Fisch is a great hire IMO. He was OC for the Vikings when they last went to the NFC Championship and had the #2 offense in the league (tho they had Favre and AP.) His offense at Miami recently was good as well. He runs the ball but attacks through the air very aggressively. Loves to run four verts. Loves to utilize the TE. The guys happiest about this hire are going to be Marcedes Lewis, Cecil Shorts and MJD (he loves to work the RB in the passing game as well.) He could likely extend MJD's career if it all works out for him in Jax. As far Bob Babich. Not a fan. He followed Lovie Smith around and has been Lovie's DC twice, but got demoted each time. The Bears defense struggled under him. But then again, he's likely just DC in name only. Gus Bradley is gonna be the guy running the defense. He's more than likely just going to be a sound board for Gus Bradley. Gus will probably let Jedd handle the offense and do his thing while he takes care of the defense and the game management. Love the Jedd Fisch hire. He's a creative, adaptable guy.

    2012 All Rookie Team

Like I said, I'd give Hilton and Gordon the nod above him. No arguments there. I just think saying he flat out blows (which was originally said, and not by you, but by the guy who propped you) — is off base — even if he did blow for the first half of the season. Simply because by the end of the season he didn't blow. It's just an obvious signal to me that some people saw him play bad in the beginning, wrote him off, and never looked back to see he actually came on at the end of the season and put up some actual pretty good numbers for a rookie WR historically (look it up, he actually did rather good for a rookie WR.) Obviously the biggest change was the QB, Blackmon isn't a guy who's gonna get wide open for you all the time. In the beginning of the year his routes were lazy, he was making mistakes and running the wrong depths, etc. As the year went on he progressively got better at all that. You need to throw the ball up to him and give him a chance to go get it even if he is "covered." Much like an Alshon Jeffery, though not as extreme a case as Jeffery. Blaine Gabbert doesn't do that, Chad Henne does. For better and worse on both QB's accounts. It's no coincidence once Henne started playing Blackmon's numbers skyrocketed. Blaine never took the chance, Chad did, and his numbers grew. Get him the ball, and he'll make plays after the catch, that's his game. But Chad Henne is still garbage. It's just he was a better pair off with Blackmon than Gabbert.

    2012 All Rookie Team

I'm not saying Blackmon was the best rookie WR, because he wasn't, that was likely T.Y. Hilton or Josh Gordon. But he was easily AT LEAST the third best, and his numbers say he's in consideration for the best. All this with Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne throwing to him (Josh Gordon gets props too for having Weeden as a QB yet performing.) Numbers for all the, "Blackmon blows" bros: • Justin Blackmon 64 rec. 865 yds. 13.5 avg. 54.1 yds/g. 5 tds. • T.Y. Hilton 50 rec. 861 yds. 17.2 avg. 57.4 yds/g. 7 tds. • Josh Gordon 50 rec. 805 yds. 16.1 avg. 50.3 yds/g. 5 tds. • Chris Givens 42 rec. 698 yds. 16.6 avg. 46.5 yds/g. 3 tds. • Kendall Wright 64 rec. 626 yds. 9.8 avg. 41.7 yds/g. 4 tds. So explain to me exactly how "Blackmon blows", bro? Numbers say otherwise. All done with two incompetent QBs throwing to him, with a very bad offensive line to give the same bad QBs time to find him. Gordon's numbers are just as impressive given his QBs too. Hilton has the best QB throwing to him, and Givens has a decent QB throwing his way. Wright is in the same boat as Blackmon and Gordon but his numbers aren't on their level. Also @ Chris D, how exactly was Kendall Wright a bigger factor than Justin Blackmon? You say "outside of one game", like taking a players best game out of consideration makes it a better judgement (which I'll never get), so okay let's do that. Blackmon's best game against the Texans (who by the way are a top 10 defense, but who cares right?), was 7 catches for 236 yds and 1 td. So we match up him and Wright's numbers taking away that game and we have: • Justin Blackmon 57 rec. 629 yds. 11.0 avg. 42.0 yds/g. 4tds. • Kendall Wright 64 rec. 626 yds. 9.8 avg. 41.7 yds/g. 4 tds. So as you see... even when you take out Blackmon's best game (which makes absolutely no sense), he still was more of a factor than Kendall Wright. Even with less receptions. Both are primarily possession guys, in terms of their roles with their teams. Which hurts both in yards per catch with the other three who are asked to be speedy deep threats. The reason y'all have this warped memory if because Blackmon struggled big time to start the year. He was on one of the worst teams in the league, and hadn't fully adjusted to the game. Or was he in camp as early as the others (tho Wright was also late, but got in before Blackmon.) But that doesn't even matter, because in the end his numbers make a case for him being the best rookie (although like I said, I'd give the nod to Hilton or Gordon myself.) But this perception that he sucks or isn't any good is hilarious. He became a consistent play maker halfway through the season. Along with Cecil Shorts, he makes up a good young WR duo with potential in the future. I bring facts here, you dig? Not just convoluted opinions based of unreliable perceptions... Suck it haters.

    Early Draft Watchlist

Stedman Bailey isn't big in size, but he plays big. He'd be a good look for someone in the 3rd round. Other WRs I really like who haven't been talked about a lot: Markus Wheaton, Oregon St. Quinton Patton, La. Tech Not a big Justin Hunter fan (Robert Woods either.) I like Allen, Hopkins and Patterson a lot. Williams is decent.

2012 TGP Mock Draft Game Discussion Thread

I would've picked him in the 2nd I was a big fan of his going in to the draft and was heart broken when Seattle took him spots after Jacksonville drafted a fucking punter.

    Gronk'D Overrated/Underrated

^ I feel the same as you. Ridiculous. Not a fan, with proper coaching he can become a good LB though. He just plays too much like a safety (his old position), right now. Which means he's annoyingly inconsistent and unreliable.

Jags Hire Gus Bradley As New Head Coach

Bradley confirmed he's going to feature the "Leo" position in JAX like he did in SEA. Clemons was the most used player at that position, with Bruce Irvin playing there some — and obviously after Clemons got injured. Looking at Clemon's size, Jason Babin is the same height and close to the same weight. He has the quick first step too, and the Leo does line up wider than the other linemen so it's probably a good fit. I'd also like to see them use Andre Branch there too. But of course if they draft a stud pass rusher (which I think is most likely), obviously you'd like to see them used there instead with the others rotating in. Also you'll probably see Alualu moved outside to DE in the Leo, just like they did with Red Bryant (another perceived bust at DT who succeeded under Bradley and Carroll when they moved him outside), which will be better suited to Alualu's strengths because he's not a good vanilla 4-3 DT. Too small. I think they'll have Mincey play inside more too. It'll be interesting to see the changes Bradley makes with the personnel already on the team. Gus likes big physical corners, so expect the Jags to quickly resign Derek Cox, who's also far and away their best corner but is a free agent. He missed 4 games this year, and his injury history is likely to scare some teams that otherwise would be interested away, so Jags might be able to snag him up for a reasonable price. Even though I'm not a big fan, I wouldn't be surprised to see them go after Sean Smith of Miami either, another big physical guy, but he got beat a lot this year. He's been inconsistent his whole career.

    Do you remember?

For all the 80s babies (and thus, 90s kids) out there: Spice Channel, Playboy Channel, Free Boxing, Free Wrestling, HBO, Showtime, etc. One of the few benefits of my parents getting divorced was my dad no longer needing to feign a moral compass. So I'd go over to his place on the beach, watch illegal cable, and play cards with naked bitches on them with his roommate's kids. Then run around the streets at night breaking shit and being an all around punk kid.
