Tate Forcier Transfers to Miami

Recommended Posts

Not so fast, my friend. /Corso

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Tate Forcier's career at Miami is over before it started.

A person familiar with his decision told the Associated Press on Friday that the former Michigan quarterback broke off contact with the Hurricanes about six weeks ago because undisclosed personal matters were overshadowing football. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because Forcier has not publicly revealed the decision.

ESPN.com first reported Forcier would not attend Miami. A message left for Forcier's father by the AP was not immediately returned Friday.

Miami added another transfer quarterback earlier this spring, when South Florida native Ryan Williams left Memphis after one season to join the Hurricanes. Returning quarterbacks Jacory Harris and Stephen Morris will vie for Miami's starting job for 2011 in training camp, and Williams would have to sit out until 2012 unless the NCAA grants a waiver saying otherwise.

Forcier's college career has been turbulent. He was dogged by transfer rumors last season at Michigan, despite his insistence that he would remain a Wolverine throughout his career.

He was declared academically ineligible for Michigan's trip to the Gator Bowl, and soon after revealed on Twitter that he would pursue a transfer. The 6-foot-1, 194-pound quarterback considered Kansas State, Washington, Arizona and Montana before signing an aid agreement with the Hurricanes in February.

Forcier had virtually no involvement with the program since. He never enrolled at the school.

Forcier completed 219 of 365 passes for 2,647 yards, with 17 touchdowns and 14 interceptions in 20 games for the Wolverines. Michigan went 9-11 in those games.

I think the thing that bothers me so much is that Foricer would fit in at Michigan so much better than Robinson would, and Robinson would fit in at Miami so much better than Forcier would.

We'll see what is next for Forcier. I really hope he ends up playing at a major university. I believe that he is a really talented player.
