For those interested in NASCAR but haven't followed changes made from 2011, or are just getting into it and want to see what is going on for 2012. Full Time Teams #1 Jamie McMurray Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing Chevrolet McMurray returns as well as sponsor Bass Pro Shops to run the full 2012 season. #2 Brad Keselowski Penske Racing Dodge Keselowski signed a new long term deal with Penske Racing this offseason, he and sponsor Miller Lite are locked up for the long haul. #5 Kasey Kahne Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Kahne moves to Hendrick after a year with the now gone Red Bull Racing. State Farm Insurance comes on board to be the primary sponsor. Crew chief Kenny Francis follows Kahne from Red Bull. #9 Marcos Ambrose Richard Petty Motorsports Ford Ambrose and sponsor Stanley Tools return for 2012. #10 Danica Patrick/David Reutimann/Tony Raines/Dave Blaney/Tommy Drissi Stewart-Haas Racing/Tommy Baldwin Racing Chevrolet Patrick will compete in 10 Sprint Cup races for Stewart-Haas and GoDaddy sponsorship. She will receive owner points from Tommy Baldwin's #36 team in 2011, and in return Baldwin will run the #10 car out of his shop in the remaining 26 races with David Reutimann driving. Reutimann drove the #51 for Phoenix Racing for one race while Kurt Busch was suspended and Dave Blaney drove the #10. Tony Raines ran the car at Michigan while Tommy Drissi drove at Sonoma #11 Denny Hamlin Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Both Hamlin and sponsor FedEx return for 2012. Darian Grubb, who just won the Sprint Cup championship with Tony Stewart, will become the new crew chief. #13 Casey Mears Germain Racing Ford Mears returns for 2012, sponsor Geico will also return for a portion of the schedule. The team is switching from Toyota to Ford for the 2012 season. #14 Tony Stewart Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet Stewart and sponsors Office Depot and Mobil 1 are back to defend their Sprint Cup championship. There is a change at crew chief however, as Steve Addington comes over from Penske Racing to replace Darian Grubb. #15 Clint Bowyer Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota Bowyer moves from Richard Childress Racing to a new ride at MWR. 5-Hour Energy will be the sponsor. #16 Greg Biffle Roush-Fenway Racing Ford Biffle and sponsor 3M will return for the 2012 season. #17 Matt Kenseth Roush-Fenway Racing Ford Kenseth returns for 2012, with new sponsor Best Buy supporting the team for most of the season after Crown Royal left the sport. #18 Kyle Busch Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Busch and sponsor M&M's will return for 2012. #20 Joey Logano Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Logano and main sponsor Home Depot return for 2012. Dollar General also comes on board to sponsor the team in select races during the season. #22 AJ Allmendinger/Sam Hornish, Jr. Penske Racing Dodge Allmendinger replces Kurt Busch in the ride this season. Sponsor Shell/Pennzoil stays on board and Todd Gordon becomes crew chief, replacing Steve Addington. Allmendinger was replaced following a failed drug test by Sam Hornish, Jr. #23 Robert Richardson, Jr./Scott Riggs R3 Motorsports Chevrolet The team plans on attempting the full schedule with Richardson driving the Daytona 500 and Scott Riggs replacing him after, and potentially other unnamed drivers could drive select races. #24 Jeff Gordon Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Gordon and crew chief Alan Gustafson return for 2012. Sponsors AARP Drive to End Hunger, DuPont and Pepsi also return. #26 Tony Raines/Josh Wise Front Row Motorsports Ford Ran the Daytona 500 with Raines driving. Wise has taken over the car since and is running for Rookie of the Year #27 Paul Menard Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Menard and sponsor Menard's will return for 2012. #29 Kevin Harvick Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Harvick and main sponsor Budweiser return for 2012. Jimmy John's and Rheem will also return for select races. Shane Wilson will become the new crew chief for the team replacing Gil Martin. #30 David Stremme Inception Motorsports Chevrolet The team plans on running the full 2012 schedule with Stremme. No word on sponsorship. #31 Jeff Burton Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet Burton and main sponsor Caterpillar return for 2012. Wheaties and BB&T come on board to sponsor the car in select races. Drew Blickensderfer becomes the new crew chief. #32 Terry Labonte/Ken Schrader/Reed Sorenson/TJ Bell/Jason White FAS Lane Racing Ford Labonte will run the Daytona 500 so the team can fall back on his champions' provisional to make the race. The team will be locked into the field following Daytona when the #6 team no longer becomes eligible. Schrader will run select races for the team, Reed Sorenson made a few starts in the car as has TJ Bell. John Wes Townley was hired to drive at Pocono but was replaced by Jason White #33 Elliott Sadler/Brendan Gaughan/Austin Dillon/Hermie Sadler/Tony Raines/Stephen Leicht Richard Childress Racing/Joe Falk Racing Chevrolet Clint Bowyer drove for the team in 2011, but left after sponsorship couldn't be found. Sadler will run the Daytona 500 with Kroger sponsorship. Gaughan will run the following four races with South Point Hotel & Casino sponsorship. Hermie Sadler will drive the car at Martinsville. Joe Falk bought the team from RCR and has run all races since then, mostly with Stephen Leicht driving. Austin Dillon will make an occasional start with RCR in the car with American Ethanol sponsorship #34 David Ragan Front Row Motorsports Ford Ragan takes over the ride full time after losing his ride at Roush-Fenway because of sponsorship. Jay Guy will be crew chief. #36 Dave Blaney/Tony Raines Tommy Baldwin Racing Chevrolet The team sold its' 2011 owner points to Stewart-Haas so they will have to qualify the first five races on time. Blaney returns with a new crew chief, Ryan Pemberton. Tony Raines drove the car in both Pocono races. #38 David Gilliland Front Row Motorsports Ford Gilliland returns with a new crew chief, Pat Tryson. #39 Ryan Newman Stewart-Haas Racing Chevrolet Newman and main sponsor U.S. Army return for 2012. Quicken Loans and Outback Steakhouse join the team as sponsors for select races. #42 Juan Pablo Montoya Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing Chevrolet Montoya and main sponsor Target return for 2012. Chris Heroy becomes new crew chief for the team. #43 Aric Almirola Richard Petty Motorsports Ford Almirola gets a new ride, replacing AJ Allmendinger who left for Penske. Smithfield Foods will be primary sponsor for most of the season. #47 Bobby Labonte JTG Daugherty Racing Toyota Labonte returns with sponsors Kingsford, Bush's Baked Beans and Little Debbie returning. Todd Berrier becomes the new crew chief. #48 Jimmie Johnson Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Johnson and Lowe's returns for 2012. #49 JJ Yeley/Jason Leffler Robinson-Blakeney Racing Toyota The team plans on running the full schedule with Yeley as driver. No word on sponsorship. Yeley left for a different opportunity and was replaced by Jason Leffler. #51 Kurt Busch/David Reutimann Phoenix Racing Chevrolet Busch comes to Phoenix Racing after a rough breakup at Penske. Hendrickcars.com will sponsor the team for the Daytona 500, no other word for sponsorship beyond that. Busch was suspended and replaced by Reutimann at Pocono, Busch resumed driving duties after the suspension. #55 Mark Martin/Michael Waltrip/Brian Vickers Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota Team changes number from 00 to 55 as Mark Martin comes on board to run a part time schedule with Aaron's remaining as sponsor. Waltrip will run a handful of races that Martin won't run. Brian Vickers will run a handful of races, with an unknown driver running the two road courses. #56 Martin Truex, Jr. Michael Waltrip Racing Toyota Truex and sponsor NAPA return for 2012. #78 Regan Smith Furniture Row Racing Chevrolet Smith returns 2012. #83 Landon Cassill BK Racing Toyota The team bought the assets from Red Bull Racing's #83 team from 2011. Cassill is expected to run the full schedule with Burger King sponsorship. #87 Joe Nemechek NEMCO Motorsports Toyota Nemechek returns for 2012. No word on sponsorship. #88 Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet Earnhardt returns with Steve Letarte as crew chief for 2012. Diet Mountain Dew will sponsor the car instead of AMP Energy Drink. The National Guard remains as a sponsor for the other races. #93 Travis Kvapil/David Reutimann BK Racing Toyota The team bought the assets of Red Bull Racing's #4 team from 2011. Reutimann will drive the Daytona 500 with Kvapil taking over for the rest of the season. Burger King is expected to sponsor this team as well. #98 Michael McDowell Phil Parsons Racing Ford McDowell returns for 2012 as the team changes numbers from 66 to 98. They also switch from Toyota to Ford. #99 Carl Edwards Roush-Fenway Racing Ford Edwards and crew chief Bob Osbourne return for 2012. Aflac returns as sponsor, but for less races. Fastenal and UPS join the team as sponsor for select races. Part Time Teams #09 Kenny Wallace RAB Racing Toyota The team will run the full Nationwide Series schedule with Wallace and will attempt the Daytona 500. No word on if the team plans to run any other Cup races. #6 Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. Roush-Fenway Racing Ford UPS left the team as sponsor as sponsor and David Ragan was released as driver as the team doesn't plan to race without sponsorship. Stenhouse will drive the Daytona 500, but the team will run no other races without sponsorship. #7 Robby Gordon Robby Gordon Motorsports Dodge Gordon attempted the first 5 races of the season but announced they will scale back and only run limited races. #19 Tim Andrews Go Green Racing Ford The team plans to run 10-12 races starting with Andrews as driver starting with Bristol in March. #21 Trevor Bayne Wood Brothers Racing Ford Defending Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne returns to run a part time schedule with the team. The team could add more races to their schedule is sponsorship is found. #37 Mike Wallace/Timmy Hill/JJ Yeley Rick Ware Racing/Front Row Motorsports Ford Wallace will attempt the Daytona 500, with Timmy Hill running the remainder of the season in a rookie of the year effort. Hill was replaced after struggling early with Tony Raines and the team shut down operations until a merger with Tommy Baldwin brought JJ Yeley into the car. #40 Michael Waltrip Hillman Racing Toyota Waltrip will attempt the Daytona 500 with Aaron's sponsorship. No word on if the team plans to run any other races. #50 Bill Elliott Turner Motorsports Toyota Elliott will run Daytona in July for the team with Walmart sponsorship. #73 David Reutimann/Travis Kvapil BK Racing Toyota The team ran with Kvapil at Darlington while Reutimann drove the #93, but Reutimann drove at Charlotte. The team was supposed to run Reutimann in all races where Danica Patrick drives the #10, but those plans were scratched and the team didn't show up to Bristol. #74 Reed Sorenson/Cole Whitt/Stacy Compton Turn One Racing Chevrolet Sorenson will attempt several races with the team throughout the season. #95 Scott Speed Leavine Family Racing Ford The team plans to run 15 Sprint Cup races in 2012 with Speed as driver. #97 Bill Elliott NEMCO Motorsports Toyota Elliott will run the Daytona 500 in a 2nd NEMCO car.
