  1. I think the Cardinals are a little too low. I know they haven't looked great and are 1-3, but I think they will turn it around. There is too much talent on that team and Arians is a good coach who will get them rolling.

I also think the Raiders are too high. I don't see them being any better than the Texans this year who both of you have way below them.

  2. Ravens are a top team in the NFL. Their defense is incredibly stout and it will keep them in all games.

They just happened to run into Derek Carr who is playing out of his mind right now.

Raiders and Ravens are both going to be competitive and between the Raiders elite offense and the Ravens elite defense it very well could carry both teams to the playoffs.

A team that beat the Jags and Browns by a combined 7 points is a top team in the NFL? I'm not buying that. Definitely not buying that they have an elite defense either.

Carr is playing well right now, but again, look at his opponents and their defenses. I want to see how he fares against a good defense before I say that he can carry them into the playoffs.

  3. I agree that the Cardinals should start panicking. They dropped 2 very winnable games against the Bills and Rams and have a tough stretch coming up. I'm not sure what's wrong with their offense, but they've looked a little out of sync this year other than against the Bucs who everyone has torched.

    How about the Jets?

  4. The Raiders actually have talent on Defense. They need to let Mack be a stand up rusher. Putting him in the dirt is crippling his ability. They should be getting Mario Edwards back soon too.

They have some talent, but it hasn't shown on the field yet. 27+ points allowed in 3 of their 4 games. I'll need to see them perform at a high level before I buy it.

  5. Ravens and Raiders both came to my mind immediately. Both have had very easy schedules and have barely beaten some bad teams. To go into more detail, I think the Raiders will be in a lot of shootouts due to their bad defense, and I don't think their offense is ready to win the shootouts against the better teams. For the Ravens, their pass D is atrocious and they just don't have the firepower on offense to keep up.

  6. I think the fact that we only have 3 days to prepare and game plan while the Browns had 8 or 9 played a reason in why we looked so bad on Saturday. The Browns were constantly throwing blitzes at us and the o-line was obviously not prepared for them. Winston obviously didn't look good and made poor decisions when pressured, but that's gonna happen with a rookie QB.

The defense started off poorly with that first drive but then had 5 straight 3 and outs. It was disappointing to see the Browns drive down their throats again to start off the second half, but I think there is definite improvement on that side of the ball from last year.

The fact of the matter is we're not as good as we played against Cincy, and we're not as bad as we played against the Browns. This is a young team that is going to go through a lot of growing pains this year. There are going to be some flashes of brilliance and some moments (probably a good amount for the offense) where we're just going to be shaking our heads.

Like BucD said, this is a 2-14 team, and also a very young team. We have 2 rookies starting on our o-line, a rookie QB and half of our starting defense is 25 or younger. As long as the team improves throughout the season and continues to make progress, I will be happy. By some of the reactions you see by Bucs fans, I really don't understand what people were expecting. I guess some people bought too much into the Winston hype.

  7. Trenches will hold the team back this year. I don't have faith in the o-line at all and Warhop is one of the worst coaches in the league. Can't believe he's still around after last year's mess. Just gotta hope that they don't Jameis killed which I'm very worried about with Dotson probably missing the first few games. Hopefully we bring in Cherlius and he can be a respectable starter.

D-line isn't as bad as the o-line but we have no outside rush. Unless Jacquies Smith plays like he does the second half of last year or George Johnson breaks out, we're in big trouble. Hopefully Lovie and Frazier can get creative with the line and move some of our DT's around. We're loaded there with McCoy, McDonald, Melton and McDaniel. Pretty sad that I have more faith in our interior guys getting pressure than I do with our ends.

With that being said, a lot of young guys are gonna be getting playing time and I'm interested to see who can step up in the next few weeks and throughout the season. Kwon Alexander sounds like he could have been a big steal for us in the 4th and watching the rookies on the o-line will definitely be interesting. Also excited to see if guys like McDougald, ASJ and Edwards/Pamphile can earn their starting roles on this team.

Anyways, I think we're still another year or two away from competing for the playoffs. Just gotta draft a lot in the trenches the next two drafts and I think we'll really be in the business.

  8. I expect Victor Cruz to have a big season. Everyone is focused on OBJ because of him stepping in last year for Cruz, but he can still ball.

Didn't even realize the Chargers picked up Stevie Johnson. Definitely see a good year coming for him.

  9. Strengths

    1. Defensive Tackle - Gerald McCoy, Clinton McDonald, Henry Melton and Akeem Spence is a very, very good rotation. One of, if not the best rotation in the NFL.

    2. Cornerback - Alterraun Verner and Jonathan Banks are good starters, Banks really flew under the radar last year and played very well. In addition to them, we have Sterling Moore who should be a good nickel and Mike Jenkins who provides solid depth.

    3. Wide Receiver - Wouldn't really say it's a strength but it's the next closest position we have to list as a strength probably. Mike Evans is a stud and V-Jax can still ball, but behind them is where the problem comes. Louis Murphy had some good games last year, but was pretty inconsistent (to be fair, QB play was terrible). Kenny Bell is a 5th round rookie who a lot of people like and think he could be in the slot. Other than that, everyone else is a scrub.

    Weaknesses

    1. Defensive End - Relying on Jacquies Smith and George Johnson to start at DE. Smith looked great when he played last year, but he definitely needs to prove it for a full season before I'm a believer. George Johnson was a solid rotational guy last year on one of the best lines in football. He's gonna have a much bigger role this year and I'm not sure he's ready for it. Behind them, our depth isn't any better with Will Gholston, who is mostly a run stopper and Larry English. Lack of pass rush on the outside is definitely the biggest weakness for this team.

    2. Safeties - A lot of unproven players and mediocre/bad veterans. The fact that Major Wright and Chris Conte have chances to start really says it all. While they both know the system and Lovie, they simply aren't good players. Keith Tandy has not seen much significant time and hasn't been special when he has gotten it. DJ Swearinger sounds like another Dashon Goldson, outdated player that's a big hitter and can't cover. Bradley McDougald has shown flashes and displays the most potential and excites me most out of this group, but I wouldn't feel great with him starting.

    3. Offensive Line - This line was a disaster last year and probably the worst in the league. While we did add Ali Marpet and Donavan Smith in the draft, Marpet may not start and asking a rookie OT to start usually does not end well. Demar Dotson is solid at RT. Mankins was bad last year, but reports say his mind is back in the game and is in incredible shape (has a 6 pack). I think EDS is garbage and will be replaced by Marpet next year, but I hope he can turn it around this year.

  10. Obviously Jameis Winston. We could finally have ourselves a franchise QB, so I can't wait to watch him play.

    Other than Winston,

    - ASJ: Winston loved using TE's in college and Dirk Koetter likes using them, as well. ASJ is a big target with a lot of talent and I would love to see him and Winston develop some good chemistry.

    - Dirk Koetter: Finally, we have a legit, proven NFL OC and not some scrub who had never called plays before in his life. I think Koetter can do some good things with this offense and minimize some of the areas of weakness.

    - Defense: Defense started playing better towards the end of last year and we all saw how much Dallas' D improved after a year of experience with a similar D. The Bucs added a lot of guys from FA who are already familiar with the defense/Lovie (Henry Melton, Bruce Carter, Sterling Moore, etc) so that should make things better as well.

  11. Yea, not sure why people think Glennon is so good. I agree that Lovie shouldn't have named McCown the starter right when they signed him, but Glennon did not impress at all in the pre-season/few regular season ages and showed a lot of the same issues he had his rookie season. He had a shot to step up and take the job from McCown when he went down, but fell flat on his face after the Saints game.

  12. lol @ all the Cowboys fans slurping Sean Lee in this thread. Didn't see much of a drop off with Rolando McClain in there this year.

And if you haven't heard of Lavonte David or Bobby Wagner, there's really no point in even arguing with you. Both are better players than Lee.

  13. As of now, I want Winston because I don't trust the Bucs coaches to put Mariota in a good offensive system. With the right coaches, I think Mariota could be very good though. I just think Winston is the more prototypical NFL QB and has a lot of the traits you look for in a NFL QB. Yea, he has some question marks, but pretty much every QB does coming out of college, unless your name is Andrew Luck.
